Chesapeake Golf Club
About
Chesapeake Golf Club sits tucked away in the idyllic village of Las Gaviotas, conveniently situated just 15 minutes from downtown Norfolk. Boasting some of the best greens in the Tidewater area, the club offers the amenities of a private club with the fees of a public golf course. The layout will challenge you with rolling fairways and tricky doglegs. Water hazards come into play frequently so be prepared for a few intimidating blind shots over water. Mature trees line the rolling fairways and there are also strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The manageable 6,278-yard length is approachable for beginners yet there are still holes that long hitters will enjoy. Chesapeake Golf Club is a course that will test your skills but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Good course
Good course, pace of play was great on the front nine, back nine was a lot slower. Overall it is a course I recommend and will be playing again.
Pure Garbage
From the moment we stepped foot into the pro shop it was clear they were either too busy or didn't care people were there to golf. The Marshall from what I could tell never left the club house. 3 hour front nine I guess is normal. Made the turn and ran inside real quick to ask where the Marshall was only to see a old folks foursome jump in front of us on the tee. Pro shop said they sat down to eat lunch and they couldn't do anything about it. Credit card machines were down. Couldn't chip on an actual green for practice. Range was completely closed. This place is an absolute garbage excuse for a golf course with incompetent staff.
On point course
Chesapeake golf course has definately stepped up there game. This course is in great shape and a bargain as well.
The greens were excellent
Was there. Early around 7:17 tee time and was complete at 11:20 , there was a tornament at 8:30
Course management
It's a great course that I have been playing for years. Many of the holes make you think about where you want to be off the tee. Some of the par 4s and 5s require an iron off the tee if you're not a long enough hitter to clear the water mid fairway. Well managed facility.
Great course
I played this course again this past week and it is looking great. Greens are green, smooth, and fast. Tee boxes are cut low, and the fairways are coming out of their "winter slumber". Rates are very reasonable, and the Associate Membership is a fantastic deal. There are lots of great courses in Hampton Roads, and I like playing many of them, but I always come back to my "home course".
Not What I Expected
After reading all the positive reviews I was disappointed in course conditions, I know it's the shoulder season but even for this season the greens, tees and fairways were in poor condition. The LOUD barking dogs on several holes were extremely annoying. I know the course can't do anything about them, so just beware if you play here. On course porta-pots were gross and you don't get back to the clubhouse until hole 12 or 13 to use a clean rest room. My wife says "women beware".
This course has great features
We were down here for vacation and it's off-season. The course was beautiful. The weather was perfect. It gave us a challenge, especially with the water and sand traps. The staff was incredibly friendly. We liked it enough to come back again and get another round in before we leave for home. I can only imagine how pretty this course will be when it's the prime time season! Definitely recommend.
Good Deal
I didn't play my best, by far. Enjoyed the round anyway.
Great Value
This is a great course for the money. Greens are in pretty bad shape right now but other than that I have no complaints
Great Day for Golf
Played Chesapeake on a NICE Febuary day. Staff very friendly.. Course is in good shape considering all the rain we have had. Greens are in good shape,, looks like they had a couple of issues on a couple of greens that they are resolving, esp #2 Still greens in good shape. Received shots well and had to fix ball marks when I hit the greens. Course has all types of holes, long holes, short holes, even a par four you have to tee off with an iron unless you can carry 225 over water.. Played course many years ago and course had issues. Management has done a great job with this course. Keep up the good work, can't wait to play on a dry day.
The Jewel of Chesapeake
This is a challenging course (lots of water), but laid out well. My husband and I enjoy playing 18 followed by lunch in their excellent snack bar. I've recommended Chesapeake Golf Club to friends. The staff are friendly and the facilities are great.
FIRST TIME WILL BE BACK NICE COURSE EVEN FOR WINTER CONDITIONS
