The Bayonet at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course

Bayonet course wasn’t up to the normal quality that we were used to.. Greens were terrible, uneven, bumpy and very poor quality. Tee boxes were very tore up and fairway’s were thin and grass was spotty. I’m not sure how this course could go from a 5 star to no better the a 2 star. I hope they bring it back to the top condition it used to be.

Great views of the ocean from most holes, I played both courses and course condition is for sure an issue, fairways are not in the best shape, or are the tee box’s also the greens are maybe some of the worst I have ever seen, and I play a lot of courses, almost like painted dirt, and no way can u get a ball to check and stay on green, so many good shots just flying off the green, there is no reward for good shots on this course, not a lot of fun to be had here, very frustrating golf courses, and I was playing fairly well! I will not play here again!! Also on one hole there was a very large squirrel caught in a trap and very much in pain, so very disturbing , it was a horrible experience, night mare material !!!

Really need to let there greens grow out. Greens are in BAD shape

It has been a few years since I've played here. Course conditions perhaps not as good as I remembered before.

Tee boxes were full of divots as well as some fairways. Could be because of CA is basically in a drought. Greens were still pretty quick and difficult though. Course used to always be pristine and in great condition. Course is still quite challenging and tough.

Have played both courses many times, enjoying the layout, views, and conditions. While the first two continue, the conditions (tees, fairways, and greens) have deteriorated significantly. Sparse grass patches make up the fairways, tees are hacked up, and the greens are super hard with thin grass. Nothing holds on the greens. Hopefully, Troon can bring the course back from the depths.

The facilities are quite nice and the staff extremely friendly and helpful.

Surprisingly one of the most difficult courses I have ever played. Fairways were hard (probably due to the lack of rain in that area this year). Greens were very sparse in places and extremely fast. The pin placements were in “US Open condition territory” for sure.

Since it was my first time playing, I would now love to go back to play knowing where NOT to hit it.

Played Bayonet yesterday for the first time in two or three years and was very disappointed with the conditions. Tee boxes were rough. Fairways were thin with lots of bare spots. Several greens had large areas that had little to no grass at all. Also they were building 65 houses on the front nine. One of the features I liked best about the course previously was the feeling of being out in nature. Sadly, this will not be the case anymore. I have taken the course off my list of must places to play when in the Monterey area.

Blackhorse instead of Bayonet- said it was less busy.

Played in 2.5 hrs. Warm, sunny and no wind- ideal conditions for January!

Have been playing these courses since the 70’s - both are World class courses, and a great test of your game!

Hopefully Troon Golf will maintain the integrity of this facility and keep it reasonably priced for locals!

Excellent course, beautiful day. I would highly recommend.

Played in light fog for the first 6 holes and enjoyed the well sanded bunkers in both the fairway and greenside locations. Plenty of rakes.

Greens are large, receptive and fast.. Tee boxes are beat up for the most part but usable. Fairways are firm and in good shape, the Bermuda rough is as cantankerous as when the base owned the course.

Great day on the links! Greens were very challenging, but made for great competition around the greens.

Beautiful ourselves. Great facility. Always in great shape.

It was my first time playing there had a blast will be back again, have to play black hours now
