The Bayonet at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course

It was a beautiful day at Bayonet! There was no one in front of us or behind us. Conditions were great. Staff was friendly as always.

Fun course, very challenging. A really good variety of challenges that make challenge you on every hole and every shot. I would love to play this course again. Also excited to try Black horse next time!

My only disappointment is that I play these 2 courses only once a year

They punched holes on the greens and the fairways recently and made the course look like it was in bad shape. It was cart paths only too so that was a surprise inconvenience. But very few were playing which made the pace really good that Monday noon. I also noticed a terrible invasion of puho grass that's spreading throughout the fairways and greens. This grass grows faster hence is adversely affecting the roll of the ball on the green. Several greens were being repaired as well in preparation of the PGA Champions tour this July.

With Aeration I expected poor greens but fairways and tee boxes were not good at all. Great couse but I would wait at least a month before playing again.

One thing that impressed me about a course, are the greens. The greens were pristine. The fairways were perfect. Layout was beautiful. I will return. The course is a challenge. LOVED IT. Recommend this course for avid golfers.

Nice layout, but very poor conditions from tee to greens.

The course was in great shape. The staff was extremely accommodating. I came from San Francisco and the traffic was murder, so I missed my tee time. They basically told me to take my time and check in when I was ready. I would definitely come back and play this course again!

Great course for the money! Best value in Monterey.

First time here, as I was unloading equipment a young employee pulled up in a cart and asked if I neede it. I told him I wouldn’t tee off for about two hours and he said that’s fine, take the cart. Glad I did as the practice facilities are away off. Great driving range, mats but it looks like sometimes it’s ok to use grass, nice short game area with bunkers and a nice putting area. The course is run with a professional, friendly and accommodating air. Everyone was kind and extremely helpful, I felt relaxed. The layout is fun and thought provoking but not punishing. The groups are not crammed together but spaced properly, we finished in four hours which is great for a public course. It almost feels like a private course. I missed out on the ribeye sandwich as the kitchen closes at three but that is fine as I went to play golf, not dine. Beautiful views, weather was wonderful but bring a windbreaker as you’re close to the ocean. Very good golfing experience.

They should be able to get it in shape by the time PGA championships rollaround

Bayonet and Black Horse are two wonderful courses of 18 holes each. When one course (Black Horse) is closed, as it was 29 Mar the other (Bayonet) is negatively impacted. Someone, either Golf Now or B/BH should have advised the Golf Now registrants of the course closure.
