The Bayonet at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course

About
It was upon this land that General Bob McClure constructed the Bayonet Golf Course in 1954 and, due to Bayonet's initial acclaim, Fort Ord decided to expand the course. In 1964 a second 18-hole championship course named Black Horse was officially opened.
The Bayonet and Black Horse courses are steeped in rich tradition and have played host to PGA Tour greats such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson, as well as several U.S. Presidents and foreign dignitaries. After a practice round in 1997, PGA Tour Professional Billy Andrade said, "If they play the U.S. Open here, the scores would be over par. It's tough, but it's fun!" One thing is for certain, the Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Courses offer golf enthusiasts and history buffs alike, an experience that they are unlikely to forget.

Bayonet GC is Challenging
Bayonet GC is a challenge. Fairly narrow in some places, greens look a bit different and putts were rolling true. Bunkers were quite deep and not easy to get out of. Views of the ocean are awesome. Best thing about playing there was the cool weather compared to the hot weather away from the coast.
Course was in great shape. Played combo tees. Has a tee for every level of player! Been playing there for over 25 years
Good Course
All aspects of the course are in good condition, though I found the greens to be a touch slow. The layout is pretty fun and demands good tee shots. It was a good value for what I paid on a Hot Deal. Unlike Black Horse, there is no construction going on at Bayonet.
Best experience
Couldn’t ask for a better experience. Course immaculate, challenging,and fun, not to mention the views of the ocean. Plan to play more often. Very friendly staff.

Love this course, cant beat it for the price. Golf now has the best rates!
Amazing weather
Couldn't complain about the weather. Greens are immaculate. Fairways pristine. Well kept couse maintenance.

Course is amazing
We’ve played here in the past but something about this round really impressed us. The course is in top shape from fairways to the greens. I highly recommend it without hesitation!!
Range closed
Played here a lot. Pretty much my favorite course but yesterday there was a reservation on the range, so it was closed at 2:30. Not a big deal but one of the events going on was people hitting balls at a target aimed almost directly at the fairway on hole 2. There was about 100 golf balls in the fairway and no one picking them up. Kind of frustrating couldn’t find the ball I hit in the middle of the fairway. Would recommend if there are events like that, that someone monitor where all the balls are landing
