Worth the money!
My husband and I absolutely enjoyed this course. The holes on the ocean are stunning. Overall, it was a great experience and definitely worth the money. We were just passing by for a day and found a deal on Golf.now so decided to stop and play. Great experience. Super relaxing.
stunning
Loved it. Front fairways were a little thin. Greens were great. Views were awesome. Back nine was really nice.
No April Fool
My wife and I decided to play here at the last moment. So glad we did. The course was fantastic, the staff at the pro shop are awesome. I wish I could remember their names and the golf cart attendant Steve was a blast. The views are incredible along the ocean and the greens are in good shape. Make sure to practice some putting before heading out. The first fairway was just aerated but don't let that deter your thoughts.
Taste and smell the salt-water breezes on Ocean Links
My first impression after playing Ocean Links in 2004 was a negative one. It felt too tight and the routing had too many quirks. Fast-forward the 500-plus courses I've played since then, and my tastes have matured. Ocean Links breaks so many rules of architecture - starting on a 296-yard par-4, serving up back-to-back par-3s at holes 6-7, only having three par-5s, ending on a par-3 - but it all clicks. The five beach holes are some of the purest ocean holes in all of Florida. It's worth the price of admission alone just to see those beautiful dunes.
Challenging Greens
For late March the course was in great condition. Overall course is short and very scenic. Some great ocean views. The greens are extremely challenging with steep slopes. Stay below the hole or expect to 3 putt. Enjoy.
Glad I did not pay full price
Course is not in great shape. I certainly expected more from a high end resort. I don't know what's going on at this facility but buyer beware. If you get a great price play.....otherwise avoid.
Ocean Course Fun but Over Priced for the Conditions
Fun course, short, fairly challenging, greens in good shape, ocean holes were fun and tough. The unfortunate thing was that the conditions of the fairways and tees were drastically different from hole to hole. Some holes the fairways were practically dirt and others were in good shape. Some tee boxes were grassy and others were chewed up. I will say, for me, the enjoyment of playing an ocean course out weighed the negatives and it may be that way for you. If the ocean course thing doesn't matter to you then this course is not really worth the high price. When the conditions improve, however, this will be a gem in no small part also to the amazing staff and beautiful clubhouse complete with top notch 19th hole.
Just missing a clowns mouth
Somebody sold out when they put their name on this course design. Poor turf conditions.
Great round of golf
One of the most fun rounds I've ever played. I was surprised the course was not in better condition (considering the cost), but the views of the island, ocean, and friendliness of everyone there more than made up for it.
Course is not in good condition
We were really looking forward to a beautiful and challenging course at seeing the Big Break on TV. We had just played the Hall of Fame courses. GolfNow had a GREAT deal for the Ocean links course and we grabbed it. The holes along the Ocean were beautiful and in good condition, but the rest of the course was not. The fairways had taken a beating over the winter and were very disappointing. The greens were wonderful. If we had paid full price, we would have asked for our money back.
Very bad condition
No grass on fairways. Bunkers very inconsistent. Greens ok but dyed. Tees were in awful condition. Doesn't look like any money has been put into the course in years. Not a good value even at $64.
The grass is greener...
Unfortunatly not here. The fairways had some brown grass but were mostly dirt. The layout and scerery were great but the conditions should never have been discribed as good. Look forward to playing again. Hopefully maintenance will provide better conditions.
Beautiful Amelia Island Plantation
Beautiful course with 3 of the holes on the front nine on the ocean and a couple in the back nine as well. Facilities are impeccable.
Absolutly to recommend to golfers
The fairways along the ocean give an outstanding view.
Great views....not so great conditions!
Maybe it is the time of year, but fairways were mediocre at best. Layout and ocean views awesome, but ruined by conditions.
include information
It was a discount rate . And the condition of the course was poor. That information should be available when booking.
Great Course
Very challenging course requiring all the shots especially into the greens which are all elevated and balls routinely roll off if not placed on correct side.
Nice with an impossible hole
All in all, it was a good time. Except for #5. That hole pretty much ruined the entire day. It was impossible to get a ball to stop around the hole. What I mean is that a really good shot or putt ended up at the bottom of the hill. We played a total of 6 balls and the best score was like 10 and I am a 5 handicapper. It just stinks when one hole ruins a good round. You also better know the lines because some shots are blind and trouble is lurking. Pretty safe if you hit to 150yds from the green. Probably would not go back.
Ocean Course
Mid-February in north Florida much of the grass is still dormant but staff does a good job if making the course playable. Incredible views on the ocean holes, however the crowned/heavily sloped greens on the Par 3's seemed somewhat foolishly designed to make par difficult. Probably because of the time of the year (they were very firm) nice, high shots still didn't hold the greens. Otherwise a very enjoyable course.
Great views minus the fog.
The facility is great. Staff real friendly, have two options to play the ocean links and oak marsh. Greens are fast. Worth buying the yardage book gives you good insight. The holes along the ocean are beautiful, except when the fog rolls in then you can't enjoy the signature 16th hole. Would definitely enjoy playing their again.
