South/North at Fernandina Beach Golf Club
About
South/North is one of three golf courses at Fernandina Beach Golf Club. The facility is home to three distinct nines that form three different 18-hole combinations. Winding through thick forests of oaks and pines, Fernandina Beach Golf Club's South/North course offers a glimpse at native Florida wildlife. The South nine depends more on accuracy rather than distance while the north nine, the shortest in length of the three, features undulating greens. Water hazards also come into play throughout the golf course. Fernandina Beach's 27 unique holes are made even more appealing by the affordable rates and convenient proximity to Jacksonville and the beach.

The course greens are in excellent shape
It's an old course and worn around the edges. The fairways are oak lined making it difficult to maintain the grass and the f/w needs weed control. Overall it's a good value for the money
awesome course
Staff over the top friendly and fee includes lunch...unbelievable
Good value
Greens are getting better. Rough was not so good. Lots of ants on tee boxes
Don't bother
Wow, not worth the money at any price. Greens were ok. Rough was US OPEN +++, UNCUT clumps of grass around greens, lots of fallen trees, terrible cart paths, staff lied about conditions and the carts were old gas and dirty.
Needs more work
I played the South course first. They have put in new greens and they were in good shape. However the rest of the course wasn't. Could land in the fairway and not have a good lie. Forget the rough, no grass or lots of weeds. Hard to play out of. Then I went to the North course. I liked the layout a lot better and the course was in better shape. Greens were good too. Course in a lot better shape than last year, but they still have a ways to go.
Rocking a golf outing with mysons!
Great location, great staff, great value for your dollar. Played the South 9 first - great challenge for us (99-105 score golfers). Played West 9 for our back 8 and really enjoy that course, hoping the "greens under repair" with the aeration process doesn't take too much longer.
Thanks for another great game of golf!

Very good shape for a coastal course.
Greens are in excellent shape. Fun to putt with. Fairly challenging course. Fairways are also in hood condition.
the roughit's too long
the greens were in good shapebut the fairway in the rough we're in terrible shape you would lose your ballif you went out of the fairway just a few yardsthis is not the US Openso try cutting the rough down a little bit
Fernandina golf club
This corse was average, the fairways could use some touching up and the greens on the north course are very small some about 10 yrds wide if that??
work pays off
First, thanks to the management for spending some time and money on the GRASS. I am happy to say there is grass in the fairways, around the greens and the greens are green! The course has come back. It is in better shape than it has been in 2 years. GO PLAY! Oh, the south is now reopened with many changes, all good.
Fernandina Beach GC
Course was in so so condition. Good warm up round. Good deal for the money.
Much improved
This course is 100% better than the last time I played. Course management are doing a great job. Still needs a little, but overall, a good place to play. I'll be back.
Fair Value For Money
Do not let the Amelia Island location fool you, this is your typical municipal course through and through. This is both it's greatest attribute and greatest drawback. The staff was incredibly friendly and laid back, as you would expect from a community course. However, the course itself was in only fair shape. It was generally well maintained, but lacked the finer details of nicer courses on the island. For example, the rough was patchy in spots and contained a variety of grasses. The greens, though in good condition, were long and slow. Overall, the course was a good value for the fair price they charge.
Left
The course was SO crowded with elderly seniors that it was impossible to play. I left after 9 holes. Fairly easy course. Greens in good condition but VERY slow. They desperately needed cutting.
We apologize that you did not enjoy your experience at Fernandina Beach GC. If you are in the area again, we would like to invite you back to play at a time when the course is not as crowded. We will be opening our South course on August 1st and invite you to experience our new Champion Bermuda greens which will be a much quicker putting surface than the West and North courses. Thanks for your feedback!
Course was in great shape
Played on the forth of July , 12 hours after a strong storm came through. Course was dry and in great shape. I wish they would have blown the greens off, they were in great shape except for the amount of Pine needles on them.
Can't beat the value
Played here while vacationing, not the best course in the area, but can't beat it for the money. Got a $20 dollar tee time off GN, so couldn't beat that deal. Greens were in alright shape, a little slow. Fairways were in good shape. Nice pro shop, didn't see a ranger or starter, so we had two groups on the first tee right behind us which was a bit annoying. First time playing a course on the coast in a couple of years and the loose sand/sentiment under the fairways reeked havoc on my score. Wanted to chunk everything for the first nine holes, but got lined out on the back. Played the West course first, followed by the North. Much prefered the north since there were no 200+ Yard par 3's. All in all a nice facility. If you're a little strapped for cash, or have a big group you're paying for on a family vacation, then I would highly recommend this course. More like 3.5 out of 5 stars, but there is no half option.
Fun in Fernandina
We had a very good day and added a walkjer with us nicegentleman
Challenging! Best Value for the money!
It had been about 6 years since I had played this course, but prior to that I would play it 4-5 times a year (for about 20+ years) as an out-of-state visitor. It was never a resort-type perfectly manicured course, but it was always challenging, fair, and by far, the best value for the money! After reading some recent reviews, I almost did not play it. It sounded horrible! However, I decided to play it at least once, for old-time sake. The reviews were horribly wrong! I ended up playing the course 3 times this past week, because the course was basically as playable as it always had been. The greens have always been "slow", due to the type of bermuda grass used, and the fact they don't scalp them so they don't burn out, but they always roll true. You can be bold with your putts, but you still have to pay attention whether it is uphill, or downhill, and with direction the grain is running. Fact is, I love putting on these greens! There were only a couple of greens, that had some rough areas on the edges, but they never came into play. The fairways were lush enough in most spots, but if you find yourself in a sparse area, then a good lie was only inches away. The rough was more like a mixture of a links setup, with a mixture of high grass and sandy soil, along with tree limbs, penalizing you for wayward shots. Some of the brown grass/sparse areas, etc is probably attributed to city watering restrictions. The course is in the process of dredging out, and enlarging the course lakes, to increase capacity to water, which will only enhance the conditions in the future. The clubhouse is very nice and the staff are very helpful! A big-time storm had blown through on Sunday night, and the North course had a large amount of debris (even some large trees were blown down) on it, but it didn't effect our play. By Wednesday, all the debris had been removed, and by Friday, the large trees had been removed and there was no evidence of the storm at all. Kudos to the staff! Get yourself a good deal on Golfnow.com and enjoy your round. I believe you'll be pleased! I was more than pleased!
Great value!
Enjoyed the round with 3 others. Great value for the area. Food at turn was very good.
