Just north of the Jacksonville Airport, Fernandina Beach Golf Club offers three 18-hole courses that are conveniently located within distance of both Jacksonville and the beach. There are three distinct nines at the club that create three different 18-hole combinations. The West/South combination is the tournament course at Fernandina Beach Golf Club. The West nine is long and there is a challenging par-5 that is one of the most difficult on the golf course. The South nine features an abundance of trees and water hazards, putting a heavier emphasis on accuracy rather than distance in scoring well. The golf course is also considered a perfect example of scenic Florida golf with native foliage and wildlife throughout.

Horrendous conditions

Absolutely the worst condition I've ever seen. Spend a few extra dollars and play somewhere else. I wouldn't play again if it was free.

Poor planning

There are 3, 9 hole courses. I paid for 18 holes. There was no ranger and pace was atrociously slow. Worst part was of the 3 nines, one was being loaned to a car show and two of the holes were “converted” to par 3s. This all the while a perfectly good 9 holes was closed. After 2 1/2 hrs and 9 holes, I left. Pitiful

Ok for the price

I probably played it in the worst time of year. The Bermuda grass fairways were brown with lots of dead areas. The greens were brown but rolled true and were very fast.

Not a serious golfers course

This course is the definition of a muni!!! Some tee boxes have NO grass. Fairways were bare and dry. Greens were bad. It’s a shame the south course has a challenging layout but just terrible conditions. This is a BEFINNERS course only or if your just messing around and drinking the whole time.

First time and probably last if improvements not made

First let me say it’s mid February and I understand conditions are not in peak season. That said tee boxes are virtually all sand. Fairways are extremely spotty and bare and not much grass at all. I thought high 40’s was way to much of a price for conditioning of golf course. I will say the gentleman in the pro shop was VERY friendly and helpful with where everything was and directions of each sides tee box was located. This could be a very nice course but not as it is today. An EXTENDED work over is MUCH needed and soon. Hopefully money will be spent to improve here quickly. I recommend staying away until improvements are made. Up to you but if you go now I believe you will be disappointed with conditions at surrounding courses being much better. I understand these courses charge more but high 40’s for here - now - is not worth it. Best of luck if you choose to give it a chance. Layout is fine but conditions are not. God Bless.

Shot players course. 27 holes available for play.

South course is a shot players course. You need to know where to hit the ball and make it happen. North and West course are a little more open and play long. Get ready to practice your big irons. Overall a nice course to visit while on the island.

Horrendous

My friend and I went to the course around noon and asked for the tee time that was available online. I was told if I wanted the tee time it would need to be booked online.

We decided to grab lunch and wait for the tee time they advised was available 1:22.

After lunch we grabbed a cart went to the first tee.

Three other carts were in front of us and 4 walkers. At this pace, we would not have finished the round until after dark.

The pro shop workers were rude & uninviting.

Solid Muni course

Nice little municipal course. Course was in decent condition. Fun course to work on a few things and have a leisurely round. I thought the price was at a good price point. My cart sucked, but it wasn’t a huge problem.

If your expecting Sawgrass , your gonna be let down, but if your a expect a nice little course you’ll be fine.

I’d play again

Beach golf

For one the app that I use to keep my score didn’t work because they have 3 ,9 holes and the course changes it up to accommodate the players which is a good thing but I like to keep my scores on my golf app called the GRINT. It’s a very good app. Pace of play was slow even though they have 27 holes . The couple in front of us left before they were done with the last 9 . The employees and food were excellent . That have gas golf carts. I like electric because they are more quiet and easier to use. Overall I would give 3 stars . I will most likely not come back. There are nicer courses closer to me that are much better to play .

Help!

Greens are in great condition. The layout is very good. Outward aesthetics are wonderful. Unfortunately, the conditions on the fairways are terrible. There are many areas with no grass at all, just sand/dirt and weeds. It seems it would not take too much to turn this into into an outstanding track, but as it sits now, it’s below average muni.

Not a good buy.

For $49 a round, this is definitely not worth it. Hardly any grass anywhere on tees or fairways. Greens are OK if you like brown. Practice facility is top notch however, with top track tracer technology. Nice place to practice, but would go elsewhere to actually play the course.
