West/South at Fernandina Beach Golf Club
About
Just north of the Jacksonville Airport, Fernandina Beach Golf Club offers three 18-hole courses that are conveniently located within distance of both Jacksonville and the beach. There are three distinct nines at the club that create three different 18-hole combinations. The West/South combination is the tournament course at Fernandina Beach Golf Club. The West nine is long and there is a challenging par-5 that is one of the most difficult on the golf course. The South nine features an abundance of trees and water hazards, putting a heavier emphasis on accuracy rather than distance in scoring well. The golf course is also considered a perfect example of scenic Florida golf with native foliage and wildlife throughout.

Golfer Reviews
This was a great course fir us. Will definitely go back
Great course
We had a great time playing this course. West was long but straight. North was a bit shorter but with many doglegs. I played off the white tees and had a challenge reaching the greens in regulation. Great course for the price!
Tolerated not welcomed
I have played a lot courses with Golfnow. Many are not happy with the discounts they need to give to participate in this program but generally do a good job accommodating their customers. Here they treat you like the evil stepchild in Cinderella. This course is convenient if staying on Amelia Island but that is about all I can say about it.
Not friendly
We traveled from St. Augustine to go to this club we had a child with us 6 years old who we are teaching to play. When we got to the club they were not nice at the desk. They had overbooked TeeTimes and looking for an excuse to not occomodate us. We booked on golf Now and they were not friendly with that, as we were not one of their locals. Definitely not kid friendly. We will not go back to that course. A few minutes away in Jacksonville was a nice course . They were accommodating with last minute players, and with kids. The course was great.
Great value, friendly people. Course was in OK shape, considering it was the end of January.
A fun muni
Fun and fast- a great muni course not complicated. Little water, more bunkers. Highly recommend if you visit Amelia Island.
It's January!
Fun to play this early in the year. This muni course is ok for an early round. Long par 5s. Greens were ragged but that is to be expected. Fairways were fine. Good value.
Bad time at Fernandina Beach GC
Mike the manager was rude checking us in. He made us wait 25 minutes when there was hardly anyone else on the course too check us out for the twilight rate. His interaction with the public was very poor.
We played 9 holes and no one told us we were not able to play the second 9 under their policy. Mike proceeded to race onto the course and embarrass me by telling us we could not play any additional holes.
Course in good shape though, Mike ruined it for us. Unfortunately Fernandina Beach GC will not be at the top of my list to revisit. Their management needs to know.
Bang for your buck
This course had challenging but fair holes. Was well maintained with very friendly staff.
Negatives..very flat and some repetitive holes.
Could use some "color" around tee boxes.
Otherwise, very good course for the money.
Not recommended
Price was reasonable on GolfNow. Course was not maintained, for what part is concrete it has pot holes on the cart path and much of the path is not paved. Very bumpy ride throughout
Packed with men's group, snails pace of play
I booked a hot deal and it was not very hot! They had a men's group shotgun on the entire course go off right ahead of me. Beware, this men's group apparently goes ~noon every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I joined up with another group behind me and we waited on every shot for over 5 Hours. The course is packed because it's cheap. It's not well maintained, a lot of places not mowed. I played the back tees and on two holes there were no tee markers so I just played at the blue marks where they should've been. It looked like there was some work being done and temporary tees and tee markers were in other places. On two of the greens there were holes cut into the slope of the hill making it impossible to stop the ball from above the hole. Not a recommended hike location according to the USGA.
South course is a “rat-hole”
The South course was in terrible shape. The fairways were barren in many area and tee boxes were not level and many had weeds growing on them. The west course was in great shape. The club doesn’t care about pace of play. Too many geriatric walkers who don’t care how many balls they hit with stacks of groups on the tee boxes. It will probably be another 10 years before I play there again
Bunkers and staff...
I enjoy the course but the staff is very rude every time we go out there. We know it’s more of an older crowd and my group is 30-40 year olds. So we can’t tell if we are frowned upon there bc the staff is old as well. We have been there a handful of times and never a good time with the staff. Outside of that, we like the course. I will say that the bunkers are the worst from Camden county to St. John’s county.
Good course for the money
Conditions were good, greens rolled nice for how dry it has been lately. Need rain badly and the fairways will come back but this course is enjoyable and worth the money to play. The range needs a lot of work. Barely any grass to hit from and believe they need to close it and regrass the entire thing. Glad the course conditions were not similar. South nine is tight on a number of holes which makes it a challenge. West nine is long from the tips with three par 5s and lengthy par 3s. Pace of play was okay. Somehow a small tournament was going on and did a shotgun start which got in front of us on the 5th hole on the South 9 our front nine. Not sure the starter knew this but would have been nice to ensure that they were behind our group.
Slow play
We were behind a woman's group play event. One group was way behind someone should have asked them to speed up. But was even worse later because of waking groups. Would be best if you start the second nine before 2 PM
