Palmetto Golf Course

About
Palmetto Golf Course gets its name from the beautiful palmetto trees that line the fairways and meandering waterways. Although they add to the scenery, the trees double as a challenging element of the course since they can also affect shots. The golf course was designed by Dick Wilson, who has designed many other courses in the area. Water hazards come into play on 10 holes of the course, including the notable signature hole, which a 435-yard par-4. There are also sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. The Palmetto Golf Course facility boasts lighted practice facilities, including a practice putting green and driving range.

This course could be great….
This course has a lot of things going for it, the layout is nice and the greens look like they play very fast however the greens were like putting on shag carpet.
Worst course I’ve ever played
Shouldn’t even be open, greens are basically construction zones, will never go back
Most of the tee boxes are extremely sandy and the greens are high and bumpy. Pace is slow at 2pm. Couldn’t finish as clubhouse closes at 5:30 Sharp. They start sending all arms 15 mins prior.
Greens are Bad
Not sure what happened to the greens, they are awful. Dead patches on every hole, different grasses, weeds, just awful.
Disappointed
Greens were sanded and the sprinklers were on for most of the day. Worst round I’ve ever had at this course. Beautiful day out and the sun was shinning but greens were soaked. Golf balls could not roll true to the hole due to over sanding and along the way they would collect sand after putting. Thankful for my towel it was the MVP today, after every stroke I had to wipe down my clubs including the putter what a joke. Left the course covered in dirt and smelling like sewer water by all the times I had to drive through the sprinklers. Let alone from the tee box you couldn’t even see where the flag was on the greens due to the sprinklers! What made things even worse was the grounds crew or ranger were pacing everyone trying to turn the sprinklers on and off as we all played. My tee time was at 10:48am and ended at 3:34pm. Unacceptable, I hope this does not go unnoticed. This is my first time leaving a review as how disappointed I felt. I called the clubhouse on the par 3 on hole 5 as I couldn’t see the flag and asked are they going to turn the sprinklers off today or are they going to run all round, I was told they would handle it. The sprinklers stayed on and off all round as before mentioned they continued to try and pace everyone’s play with them. A refund or an honorable round in the future would be the only respectable option in this case. Let’s see what happens with this course moving forward.
Greens are horrendous
Worst greens I’ve ever encountered playing golf, it’s a shame because it has the potential to be a very nice and challenging course. I was speaking with the starter and apparently the reason the greens are so bad is because there was apparently a mistake made by the green keepers where they put the wrong type of fertilizer on the greens or something. Hopefully they can clean up this absolute mess of a course. Don’t waste your money.
Atrocious shape
This course is in atrocious shape. It looks like goat field. It's sad that thiey renovated the greens only to make them worse than they were before. The fairways are non existent, most if not all have been overrun by st augustine. St Augustine is not grass you would find at a golf course. Some fairways don't even have grass on them, just mud I can't believe the city charges this much to play in such a poorly maintained course. Today I learned a new word, grunker, that's when the grass is so dead on a green that it turns into a bunker. I do hear that there's a new superintendent running the place, maybe he can pull a miracle a bring this place back to decent shape
Poor tee box and badly maintained greens
Fairways were good overall course layout is interesting but the greens and tee box’s are in bad condition with no grass.
Greens and Tee box damage
The greens and tee boxes are in poor condition with many bare patches on the greens and no grass on some of the tee boxes where markers have been placed.
