Royal Oaks Golf Club
About
The brilliant Terry LaGree design harmonizes with spectacular scenery to create Royal Oaks -- a unique and picturesque course. Powder sand bunkers dot undulating fairways lined by stately oaks and shimmering water. The course, part of the Audubon system, has preserved mature trees and native vegetation, making it a sanctuary for migratory birds and an unmatched setting for your game. The 6,650-yard par 72 course features four tee boxes on every hole. The front nine is characterized by rolling fairways with up to 35-foot elevation changes, lined with tall Slash Pines and Blue Jack Oaks. The back nine features an open meadow appearance with stands of stately live oaks shading some of the greens. Generous landing areas reward well-placed shots.

As always, great course. I love the layout and conditions are always good.
Good course
This is the second time I've played here. Some of the tee boxes were a bit hairy, but not too bad. The course fairways seems a bit dry, but had decent level of grass and were cut nicely. The greens were in excellent condition and held pretty well with a full shot in. All in all, a decent play to play. Staff was very friendly and the carts in excellent condition. I would recommend.
Beautiful course
We had a great day at Royal Oaks. Considering the cornovirus, they had everything sanitized and taken care of and we felt safe. The course has beautiful throughout the course. Everything was very nice and well manicurd. They should be proud of it.
Rain and lightning halted play after 3 holes. Golf now granted refund. Great to work with. Staff at desk told Golf Now that I should not get refund because we started. Golf Now was great. Took care of it all. AAA+++. Thats why I am a Golf Pass Plus Member period.
Good time/Friendly staff
Great layout and fun to play. The staff is extremely helpful and the members we encountered were extremely nice!
Excellent customer service.
This course is doing an excellent job of taking all possible precautions to maintain safe health conditions.
Best course in central Florida
Our twosome played in less than 3 hours with very little waiting. The course is in excellent condition better than any other course in the area. Everything was prepared for the impact if the virus. Felt safe and all staff were very friendly. Great time. Highly recommend
Big Wind
With a big front pushing through the area you can expect winds to be gusty, and boy were they. Probably a steady 15 mph to gusts of 25 mph. Made for a day of club choices not usually needed.
While the fairways were in great shape the greens had been verti cut and not up to their usual shape. Given a few days all will be as normal. Great course to play.
Should not have allowed players
Being a golf now vip for several years, I become upset when I book tee times to find the course is being worked on when I start to play. It is important for the course to let GN know what conditions are going to be taking place the day of play. This was not a pleasing day for us to be playing at Royal Oaks. First problem was the greens were sanded and they were putting water to them . The ball picked the sand up and putting was not a pleasure. Next thing that was a problem was the fact they were using powerful spray to treat the greens and aprons to kill insects on the course. We were rushed to stay ahead of the contarted equipment that was injecting the surface. Why did they even have a tee time if they knew this was going be scheduled ? Plus the workers who were pulling cups as soon as we walked off the greens would drive up and talk while we were putting. Poor management I would say. Normally I enjoy this course but today we should have not played. It was a waste of time and money.
Resurgence
I played this course several years ago and virtually placed it on the back- burner.
It was a pleasant and inspiring occasion to witness an almost complete resurgence , a renaissance if you would of the course.
No longer was there the old standard Floridian club house but a new resurgent modern and energized clubhouse and staff. The check in was painless and the starter was upbeat and succinct in their briefing of the course and it’s condition.
We found the course in supreme shape. The fairways and the rough cut to exacting standards and the greens a little slow but perfect in the roll, give and mysterious in the read.
The woods and shade exemplary as was the ability to find the wayward ball. A distinction the few clubs seem to grasp. Shot shape and precise irons are paramount on this course.
A beautiful challenge to any level of game.
Hurrah Royal Oak
Great course will play again
Course is getting better all the time
My wife and I had a good day of golf at Royal Oaks.
Fairways are getting greener as spring arrives. Best shape since we've been here . Will certainly go back.
Nice track
Nice track in a residential area 20 minutes outside of Ocala. While there were homes along the fairways, they were well set back. Greens were in excellent shape. Fairways and teeing areas were a bit scruffy hence the 4 star rating. Good variety of holes. Enjoyed our round. Excellent pace of play, in part due to early start and impact of Covid-19.
Great hidden jem. Very good shape. Greens are very true. Overall AAA+++
Sat morning round
Not sure what course others on here played. While the greens were reasonable, the rest of the course was trash. No grass in the fairways or tees. Spotty at best. Pace of play was also very slow. Wouldn’t play here again with other reasonable courses in the area.
Royal Oaks
Beautiful day and course conditions for this time of year.

Very happy with the course and all I came in contact with.
