Royal Oaks Golf Club
About
The brilliant Terry LaGree design harmonizes with spectacular scenery to create Royal Oaks -- a unique and picturesque course. Powder sand bunkers dot undulating fairways lined by stately oaks and shimmering water. The course, part of the Audubon system, has preserved mature trees and native vegetation, making it a sanctuary for migratory birds and an unmatched setting for your game. The 6,650-yard par 72 course features four tee boxes on every hole. The front nine is characterized by rolling fairways with up to 35-foot elevation changes, lined with tall Slash Pines and Blue Jack Oaks. The back nine features an open meadow appearance with stands of stately live oaks shading some of the greens. Generous landing areas reward well-placed shots.

Great value
Challenging course with a few great doglegs. Par 3’s are not those sub 100 yard types. A good test of your game.
Royal Oaks July 2018
Very nice course. Great layout and Greens. Definitely would play again. Course website does not do it justice.
Target Golf
This was a great course. The staff was friendly and the conditions were great. Accuracy is a must as even the fairways off of the tee box were difficult to navigate. Very deceptive. The course is in great shape, but is challenging.
just what we wanted
The three of us play this course at least once monthly. Nearby and a good value.
Really good golf course
we played this course on 6/25/2018. I was over all satisfied with the course. it was well kept and maintained. wide fairways, loved hole 18. think the turtles are enjoying my pink balls. lol. the greens were great.. still going through their transitions on a couple. not a biggy. great layout. I look forward to playing here again. hopefully it wont be that hot. heat index was 106. the staff was friendly and very helpful. too bad the restaurant was closed. :(
you got to know to hit out of Bermuda grass
I'm from the north where the fairway is regular grass. I got some practice to do.
Always a great time
Course is always in good shape. They are punching the greens tomorrow. Played both Saturday and Sunday.
The owners should be ecstatic over how good the weekend crew they have are. The man in the pro shop greets me by name is always pleasant and very friendly. The starter is always friendly and engaging, a great guy. The rangers are present friendly and unobtrusive. The cart man is a gentleman. This has quickly become my wife’s and I’s Favorite course we have played around 10 or so times in the last couple of months. Very acomadateing should be the standered for courses everywhere.
Rain Out
Arrived at 11 a.m. to sunny skies and by 12:45 we were drenched. The greens and fairways weren't in the best condition as they had been ariated a few days before. What more can be said, we've had a couple of very wet months.
Little Gem
After considering the most recent reviews which were pretty much a mixed bag, I almost didn't get a Golfnow deal to come play here on my way to Tampa. I am glad I didn't put much stock on the negative reviews because this course, for the money that I paid to play, is very good. The front nine was awesome; great layout and conditions were good. The back nine not as good condition wise as the front, but more than playable and inspires and requires good golf to navigate. Staff was super friendly and easy-going. Glad I came to play and will again next year as I make my way from Durham to Tampa.
love playing this course
Four of us venture out to courses other than our home course and love to return to Royal Oaks
Great layout , not so good condition
Played this course several times. Have never seen the greens in this bad condition. Takes away from the fun.
Fairways in bad shape
Should not cut fairways so short, need some grass to hit the ball
perfect golf
its a very nice course with good staff and in good condition.
like this course
Three of us have played this course a few times in the recent past and we come back. It is convenient to where we live and enjoy playing here
This is a favorite course for us.
Fast, true greens, well kept fairways, enough woods and other little tests to keep things interesting - this is a favorite course for our "Sunday Fun Day Golf Crew!".
We play every Sunday around Ocala. We do a different course each week, but this one is on our list for repetitive play, usually about every second month.
Come try it - you'll like it. The restaurant is also really good for a beer and lunch.
Just please don't take our tee times on Sunday morning.
