Royal Oaks Golf Club
About
The brilliant Terry LaGree design harmonizes with spectacular scenery to create Royal Oaks -- a unique and picturesque course. Powder sand bunkers dot undulating fairways lined by stately oaks and shimmering water. The course, part of the Audubon system, has preserved mature trees and native vegetation, making it a sanctuary for migratory birds and an unmatched setting for your game. The 6,650-yard par 72 course features four tee boxes on every hole. The front nine is characterized by rolling fairways with up to 35-foot elevation changes, lined with tall Slash Pines and Blue Jack Oaks. The back nine features an open meadow appearance with stands of stately live oaks shading some of the greens. Generous landing areas reward well-placed shots.

Great Layout
Fun course, great layout, hilly. Back nine was very well layed out and fun. Course overall was in really good shape, Water only on 17 and 18 which kept the ball count low as if a hit strayed of line it was easy to find in trimmed up trees. Houses were all very far away from course so it seemed more natural than a typical Florida housing community course. I would recommend it to anyone of all skill levels.
Conditions
The course in general was in good condition with the exception of the greens. They were not as good as they normally are, no big bald spots or anything like that, but a little rough.
We still have a large number of snowbirds here so the pace of play was just a little slow, about a 5 hour round.
Excellent for the Average Golfer
This isn't Pebble Beach but for the average golfer it is a very nice play to enjoy a round. The course isn't extremely difficult but it isn't a "gimme" either. The staff is friendly. Nearly new carts with nice amenities. The putting green and the on course greens were in excellent shape and would hold good shots into them. These aren't super fast greens but they roll really well! Fairways and tees were in very good shape. I'll be back to play again!!!
Tale of two nines
Played the front in an hour and twenty minutes never saw an other person. Made the turn behind two groups of four. Played back nine in 2 and half Nice place good shape.
Great Layout !
I play this course once per month. Always great pace of play, elevation changes make it a challenge.
A great course in excellent condition
We always look forward to returning to this beautiful course, which just now is in excellent condition. However, on this occasion the pace of play was abysmal, due to a very slow foursome about four groups ahead of us. The absence of a course Marshall is the only fault with this course. I thoroughly recommend it.
Nice round
Coruse was in good shape green were very nice. Played on Easter Sunday so was pretty empty. Fairways could and will be better in a few weeks when new grass comes in.
good course, friendly staff
One of the nicer days we have had recently. The course was in good shape and we had a great time.
We were delayed starting 45 minutes.once we got off, everything was ok.fairways need work, greens ok.For the money you can't beat it.
Always enjoy
Greens in good shape. Course tee times not on schedule for 2nd straight time I played. Played with other players I did not know, but they were all great guys. Need more urging by rangers to play at a ready golf pace.
A GREAT COURSE FOR AVERAGE GOLFERS
I HAVE PLAYED ROYAL OAKS MANY TIMES OVER THE PAST 15 YEARS AND IT ALWAYS AN ENJOYABLE COURSE TO PLAY AND HAS BEEN CONTINUALLY IMPROVED OVER THE YEARS
Slow slow slow
Over booked tee times . Late teeing off. No ranger to help speed up play. Pro shop person was clueless. It took 4 hours to play 12 holes so we gave up. Will not play there again
Fun course
There were so many leaves on the fairways we had a hard time finding our ball, partly due to the low sun along with the shiny leaves. Course was in good condition, however.
great course/lousy ranger
As said in title, great course but a lousy ranger. I got paired with a delightful old fellow and two ladies, who by the way were very good golfers and also played fast. What a great time.
The ranger who was picking up signs (hole 11 about 2:30) really got the two ladies upset. I was playing the back tee and the ladies went off the cart path to turn around (ok, they apologized) and the ranger went on and on about the grass, etc and how he could kick them off the course. He should of simply said, please stay on the cart path. By the way he also went off the path.
On the flip side, our starter ranger Bob, was outstanding. He introduced all of us to each other and explained the rules and wished us all to have a good round.
I'm sorry that your experience didn't meet your satisfaction but after reviewing my starter sheets, this is an obvious exaggeration that it took your group 4 hours to play 12 holes. There were no groups that took longer than 2 hours and 12 minutes to play the front nine. Although we do strive to be a 4 hour golf course for 18 holes, in the height of the busy season, sometimes that is a very difficult task.
