Royal Oaks Golf Club
About
The brilliant Terry LaGree design harmonizes with spectacular scenery to create Royal Oaks -- a unique and picturesque course. Powder sand bunkers dot undulating fairways lined by stately oaks and shimmering water. The course, part of the Audubon system, has preserved mature trees and native vegetation, making it a sanctuary for migratory birds and an unmatched setting for your game. The 6,650-yard par 72 course features four tee boxes on every hole. The front nine is characterized by rolling fairways with up to 35-foot elevation changes, lined with tall Slash Pines and Blue Jack Oaks. The back nine features an open meadow appearance with stands of stately live oaks shading some of the greens. Generous landing areas reward well-placed shots.

Nice Layout...
Played with a foursome through Golf Now...Caught rain three times, but finished our 18 holes...Nice course, some well placed bunkers in front of the greens, not much in the way of water hazards, which is fine with me !!! Will part there again for sure...
Good value
Great golf course with a lot of challenge with many bunkers and undulating greens and Fairways!!!
Pretty course
As expected, the course was in excellent shape, especially considering the condition of other courses in the area. Staff is always friendly. It was a very enjoyable experience, and an excellent value!
Excellent Staff
Staff was very friendly, course in good shape - greens are in transition so they were a little bumpy but ran fast. Restaurant was very good. Will play again.
great course especially for the money
staff among the friendliest in florida, and the course was in really great shape. Pace of play was ok till the last couple holes. food at the restaurant was amazing as was the service. its a little hidden gem for those who just long to play, without breaking the bank, or having to put up with a chewed up course. fairways, greens, and tee boxes were in fantastic shape
Below normal
I have played this course many times in the past and the condition was below normal. It's a good layout and I usually enjoy playing there, but the condition was not what I expected for the cost. Maybe I'm not the normal player, but I play a course and expect it to be as good as what they are charging to play. Hopefully in the near future, the condition will equal the fee!!!
Royal Oaks Golf Course
Nice, but typical gated community golf course layout. Wide generous fairways, decent greens, & moderately challenging design. Staff very friendly, golf carts were in good shape, & a very good pace of play. I would play this course again.
Ok course
This is a course that runs through a community needs some work and i wouldn't pay more than $25 to play
First Time, won't be the Last Time!
I was impressed with the whole complex. Only 1 negative. Driving range was over a mile away and if the pro shop didn't have any tokens left, you had to drive to the admin building to buy them. The greens were going from winter to summer grass. Bouncy and unpredictable, but when these greens are right, look out! Pretty course, nice layout. I'll be back!
The course condition was nice
We had eight players, I secured two tee times and used Golf Now to get a good price and lucky enough to get two times back to back. The course was in very nice condition. They must over seed their fairways and greens, both had a nice amount of grass on them. The greens were fast. Overall a very nice golf outing. We did not eat at the course.
RO is easy, fair, and fun.
Played RO five times now and it's a great deal for the money. I live in Gainesville and regularly travel to Ocala for better golf where RO is in my normal rotation. The greens were a little worn the last time we went out but the fairways were great. The staff is super friendly. Only real complaints I have about the course are the lack of a driving range and 2 holes on the back nine (14-15) have homes just off the fairway (maybe 15 yards max).
too bad
too bad, it's like other golf courses around ocala area that are nice layouts but are abused financially. back nine is better shape and last few holes are really good holes
What a joke
Booked a teatime here after seeing the 4 star reviews I had read from other golf now members. When you first pull up the course looks to be it great shape....it was not.
Fairways are very green looking, but mowed to short, far from the plush fairways found on nearby courses. Greens are terrible, spotty at best, hardly any grass on them, if they mowed them any shorter they would have been burned out.We were a twosome & were paired with another twosome, who had already played their first ball off the tee box at #1 when we pulled up 5 minutes before our scheduled tee-time. It took nearly 3 hours & 15 minutes to play the front 9. They were clearly overbooked & we were backed up on every hole, by two & three foursomes. The placard on the cart stated the rules of the course & at the end of it someone had hand written "play ready golf" in pencil & it was barely visible, but it seemed as if, it was common practice for this course to be overbooked on any given day..... The twosome that we were paired with only played the front 9. We made the turn & again had to wait for the group in front of us at #10. When we got to the tee box on #11 there were 2 foursomes waiting in front of us to tee off, we decided to quit, as it was looking like the back 9 was going to take even longer than the over 3 hours it took to play the front. When we go back to the clubhouse, I went in to the clubhouse to complain about the slow play. I was greeted by a very friendly woman, who asked what she could do for me. Before I started explaining what was going on out there, I noticed who I'm guessing was the office manager standing close by, so I made sure I also had her attention. I complained about the slow pace of play, the back-ups on every hole & the cost of our round. To my surprise, nothing was said....No apology, No offer of a rain check for 9 holes, No refund....NOTHING! Needless to say, we will never play here again, we drove 50+ miles for the 4star rating that this course had, we would have been better off spending a little more money & going someplace like Chandler Hills or Stone Creek, which are right across the street & always in much better condition. Don't waste your hard earned money here...what a joke!
After all of that, a member of the community/club came out of the clubhouse & said...Thank You for saying something, we have lived here & been members for years, & this happens more often than not. "I'm glad someone, has finally brought it to their attention, It's embarrassing & I'm ashamed of the way you were treated. I'm sorry!"
At last - fairways with grass!
This course may be a little bit more expensive than some of the others close by, but at least it is maintained in tip top condition throughout the year.
I always enjoy playing here - nice wide fairways, nothing too challenging for the average senior golfer.
Good shape
Haven't played the course in 2-3 years, I was plesantly surprised at the condition of the course.
Love this Course
Course is always in good shape, not too long, and the layout is great. I've played many times and always have a great experience. On the day I played there was a couples tournament so the pace of play was not at its best but since I've been there several times I knew it was not the norm. Greens were not as good as usual; typically slower and lush, on this occasion they were faster due to some slight patchiness.
Fun to play
Really enjoyed playing this course will play it again just wish they had a beverage cart on the course that would be my only complaint the course fun to play and in good shape
