Royal Oaks Golf Club
About
The brilliant Terry LaGree design harmonizes with spectacular scenery to create Royal Oaks -- a unique and picturesque course. Powder sand bunkers dot undulating fairways lined by stately oaks and shimmering water. The course, part of the Audubon system, has preserved mature trees and native vegetation, making it a sanctuary for migratory birds and an unmatched setting for your game. The 6,650-yard par 72 course features four tee boxes on every hole. The front nine is characterized by rolling fairways with up to 35-foot elevation changes, lined with tall Slash Pines and Blue Jack Oaks. The back nine features an open meadow appearance with stands of stately live oaks shading some of the greens. Generous landing areas reward well-placed shots.

good condition
Played 3 times and course is in excellent condition. Price is right
fun
Great course. Always fun to play. Course in great condition
Long time ago
Haven't played here in a while. Course is in good condition with the winter overseeding. Greens were in good condition. Starter was very friendly as was the marshall. Wasn't very busy due to the potential weather moving in. Played in under 3 hours.
Great shape for winter conditions
With the cool weather we didnt play really well. The ball wasnt carrying very well.
Hidden gem
Played there on Thanksgiving. The course isn't very long as it is about 6,700 yards from the tips. But, to counter that the course is a bit narrow. However, it is very fair. If you hit a bad shot, you will be punished. If you hit a pretty good shot, you will be rewarded.
I think the overall theme is that it was one of the most fun golf courses I've played in a while. The course was in fair-to-good condition, but the layout is what stands out about this course. And it's at a price that can't be beat. Definitely look forward to playing here again.
Hey good course
They need to rake the leaves off the fairways. Other than that a good course
Course condition
Course condition was excellent. Very picturesque.
Only problem was an extremely slow group 2 ahead of us.
Ready for winter
OK everything is over seeded and very green. The greens are a little long but not too bad. Still an abundance of weeds around the greens and in the short rough areas.
Overall the course is decently maintained.
fun course
not overly difficult, no long carries, just requires accuracy on tee shots, greens were about a 10 for speed but speed was consistent through out the course. shot a 94 from the white tees, with an 8 on the last hole (lost focus). would play here again.
slow playing
got there course was pack.went to first tee four groups on tee waiting.group in front of us tee time was 1oclock our was 12:52 starter let go first oldtimer and put a young guy with my dad and I who was to play with 1oclock group.took 5 hour to play finish at 6 oclock dark and a very long day.
A hidden gem in Ocala
I've played here many times over the years. The course is always in great shape and the staff is friendly. Great place to play golf.

Nice place to spend a few hours
The course had recently been the subject of reseed and it showed. The greens were fast and the pace of play was average. A course marshall could have speeded play up a little bit as some of the delay could have been prevented by golf manners. The fast food that accompanies the turn at most courses did not exist here so not only were they losing revenue, but also negated the need to interrupt the round. All in all good value, but would have scored better if items surrounding the golf had been addressed
worth playing
Very nice course, greens are not very fast, but are hard to read. You have to hit good tee shots as most fairways are tree lined.
All wet
Greenskepper lady turned spk on when she could clearly see us. Got soaked on 3d green and then 4th tee.
Great Greens!!
If for no other reason I would play this course just to putt the greens. They are smooth, fast and true. The rest of the course is also excellent--lots of trees, terrific fairways, treacherous bunkers. In fact if I could give one tip when playing this course it would be "avoid the greenside bunkers". They are deep with steep sides as you face the green. Unless you can hit a HIGH bunker shot you may sometimes be better off playing out sideways. In one bunker it took three shots to get out going for the green. And I consider myself a pretty good sand player. Another thing I like about this course is you don't have to hit driver from every Par 4 or Par 5 tee. A couple of holes you are better off hitting 5 or 6 iron to land in a safe place in the fairway and hit a mid-iron to the green. I have a Saturday group with 25-30 players in it and this is one of our favorite courses to play.
Excellent Course
Love this course and it's layout. The course is challenging but well manicured. Look forward to playing again soon.
Nice conditions
We like the up north feel of this course with the trees and a bit of seclusion between most of the holes. The greens have improved since spring and it was fun to play.
great course
WAs really nice the course and the staff would recomend to anyone
Very fun course with some tricky greens
First time at this golf course, overall the course was in pretty good shape! The greens had been punched a week/week and a half prior to play which made the already tricky greens alittle more tough.
As far as facilities the clubhouse and pro shop seem to offer a good bit, little disappointed the kitchen was closed on Mondays so we had to tee off after a granola bar and Gatorade.
But I will be back for sure, overall value and condition it's the best I've played in the area!
Good Mature Course
When I played this course it was in overall good condition (greens had been aerated approximately a week earlier). Tee boxes and fairways were in very good condition. It has a couple of bunker carries and one water carry which are a reasonable driving distance for the average golfer. Some fairways have a couple of tight spots to hit through or you end up in the woods. Course staff was friendly
Thank you so much for your comments! I'm glad you enjoyed the course. When you play again you should definitely experience the restaurant. It is excellent!
