Royal Oaks Golf Club
About
The brilliant Terry LaGree design harmonizes with spectacular scenery to create Royal Oaks -- a unique and picturesque course. Powder sand bunkers dot undulating fairways lined by stately oaks and shimmering water. The course, part of the Audubon system, has preserved mature trees and native vegetation, making it a sanctuary for migratory birds and an unmatched setting for your game. The 6,650-yard par 72 course features four tee boxes on every hole. The front nine is characterized by rolling fairways with up to 35-foot elevation changes, lined with tall Slash Pines and Blue Jack Oaks. The back nine features an open meadow appearance with stands of stately live oaks shading some of the greens. Generous landing areas reward well-placed shots.

First time at this course but very friendly staff and great condition will make you want to play this course again. Know I will.
Course was fair condtion Pro shop staff negative
Fairways generally good - some bare spots, some weeds
Pro shop staff negative towards Golfnow - maybe they do not ant your service
solid course
Tee boxes needed work.Fairways were good greens were good running around a 9.Staff was awesome.
As a staff member I really appreciate your comments, about our course, thank you so much. We look forward to your next visit.
Great course to play for the $.
Always booked w/ golfnow easy & convenient lot of t-time choices.
Variety of holes
This course is in good shape and the variety of holes is what makes it a great course. Plenty of shade for the summer months.
Homes in play
1st time in my life. Someone has told me to get out there yard. Really are you kidding me. I never passed the out of bounds marker. And you live on a golf course. There are too many course to play in ocala. Where I don't have to worry. About coming close to someone's yard. Staff was super nice. But I don't need the threat of drama in my game. I wont be back or recommend this course.
Nice course but needs some maintenance
We have played this course several times and it has a nice layout. However the course was in in such condition as it was before. Lots of greens had spots
and the fairway wasn't mowed very well. I hope the staff will get the course in shape soon because I like to play over there.
Very nice layout
I had heard good things about this course and played it with a foursome. The club house/pro shop are excellent and we all liked the layout of the course however we were disappointed with the condition of the greens. They weren't all bad but some really needed work. The course wasn't very busy and we had a relaxing round of golf, only saw the ranger once on the front nine. Did not try the restaurant.
Course has maintanence problems
Hadn't played this course for a couple of months and was shocked at its condition. Have played here 12 years and the course was always in pristine shape. On this occasion, many of the greens, which were some of the best around, were a mess and the fairways were burned in many places with very thin grass most other places. At two o'clock on a perfect Saturday afternoon for golf, we did not see another person on the course. I was very disappointed because I have always enjoyed playing this course. Other courses in the area are in better shape for the money paid here.
Thank you for your feedback. I agree that our course had a very rough transition this year and was in bad condition when you played. Our transition seemed to happen overnight. Thankfully, our superintendent has done a great job of getting the course back into shape. It has come a long way since you played it and I hope you will give us another chance. Feel free to contact me at (352)861-1818 ext. 3 if you would like to further discuss your experience.

1:00 pm tee time w/ wife for $26.75/ea thru GN.com. Course situated in gated retirement community. Nice small fairly well stocked (no logo caps though) Pro shop in large club house that is bustling w/ retiree club members. Staff extremely friendly. Course is tree lined & has some picturesque holes. Tee boxes were dry & crunchy. Fairways plush. Greens large, elevated & medium to fast paced. All in all a fun course to play. A little over priced for the quality. Battery powered carts w/ Windshield & rain cover in back.
Great Layout but Poor Conditions
I thought the course itself was a very good design with some great par threes, but overall it was less than expected after reading other reviews by people who have played recently. It is not the 4+ star rating others gave it. Greens were all partially burned out, but in all fairness, so are all the other courses in the area. Fairways were not as plush as can be found on the better courses and the tees all need some work. I drove for 2 hrs to play and was not happy about it.
Looking for a Northern Feel in the South?
Royal Oaks really is a great course to play if you like a scenic round, with lots of oak and pine trees. There are resident red tail hawks on the back 9, with nests high up in the pine trees. A monkey squirrel on #4 that loves salted cashews. The staff is very friendly in both the pro shop and the restaurant. (Best hamburgers in town) A must try and a great bang for the buck.
Best Bang for the Buck in Ocala!
I love this course because it feels like I am playing up north. It's a shorter course but tight and you will be challenged with your tee shot on a lot of holes. Take time to see some monkey squirrels, and red tail hawks as you play your round. The restaurant has awesome food, and the staff both in the restaurant and pro shop are very friendly. A must play course if you are visiting Ocala.
Great community course
Great course and layout. Played the white tees from 6288 yards and fair test of course for mid handicapper.
I will return every chance I get.
I have played them all in the greater Ocala area. This was by far the friendliest place both from staff and members. Loved it!
Very Friendly Staff
The course was in very nice shape. Greens good. Would definately play here again. The staff were all very friendly and accomodating.
Royal Oaks - A good name for the course
This is a nice tree lined facility that will challenge your accuracy but give you a lot of fun in doing so. It is in good condition after a fair.y difficult Winter season (laste March 2014). The greens are full and running fast. The fairways are good. The trees are full. I have played here many times over a five year period and found the conditions are good each time. Take a trip to the putting green and have some fun with a really nice warmup green.
Great course Excellent staff
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The course conditions were great and the greens excellent. The course is very playable. We will be coming back.
enjoyable round
Good value, good course. Lots of trees. variety of holes, fairways.
Thank you for such a great review. I hope you have a great experience each time you play Royal Oaks. We look forward to seeing you soon.
