Your approach to the 8th at Grand Cypress New needs to cross a burn, and you'll drive your cart over a stone bridge toward the green. Kitschy? Sure, but chalk it up to commitment to a certain aesthetic. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 08/31/2018

Good track unlike most in Orlando
Okay so it's not Links golf, but it's as close as you're going to get. Very different course to most of the one's around central Florida and very nicely maintained. busy course so pace ran about 4:30 for 18 holes, but it's very pretty and the course gives you enough to talk about. Quite forgiving off the tee but the approaches and greens make up for that. Will definitely be back to play again.
Unique Challenge
Great course to play even when your driver is going astray. The double fairways on most holes give you a ton of room to be errant off the tee, and still have a shot at the green.
Disappointed that the GPS were no longer on the carts, because a few holes you are not quite sure where to hit off the tee, especially where bunkers are. Couldn't quite get a distance with a rangefinder on a bunch. Also makes it tough going to the green because the greens are so large, distance to the middle may not help you very much.
Played in 4 hrs in the first group off the tee. (The people I played with were struggling mightily). I could see play getting longer waiting for the other hole of the shared fairways. Also on a couple of holes when one of the flags was way back, felt like we were intruding on the other green, but that is kind of the point right?
Staff and everyone treats you first class. Will play again next time we come back.
Nice Copy Of Saint Andrews
Played with my wife while on vacation and found the course fairly easy but still a challenge. Club selection off the tee is tricky if playing for the first time because of bunkers in play. Will play again when we return to the area.
Great Course...Poor Pace of Play
Fun, unique course! Unfortunately, it was overshadowed by the poor pace of play. Went out as a single, joined a foursome and constantly pressed the foursome in front of us! Didn't see a marshal until the 14th green. Come on man!
Wonderful course
The course is in great shape. I was a single, they let me start on the back 9. Pace of play was perfect. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Great course but tricky if it's your first time.
Buy a yardage book or download the Grand Cypress App if you play this course. There are a lot of blind shots and very few yardage markers.
Always a Fun Course
Great course always fun to play. Greens were quick which was nice. Since there is no gps in the cart though they need to put more yardages on sprinkler heads. I do not use any yardage devices and find it hard to get yardage on this course which slows us down some.
Similar to Bella Collina CC, Mystic Dunes GC, & ChampionsGate CC.
3pm tee time for $35 thru GN.com - $35 Golfnow reward. Links style golf course in resort area. Green recently sanded but still running fast & pretty true.Tee boxes & fairways plush. Not a weed visible on course: immaculate. 2 or 3 forced carry approach shots. Lots of sand traps. Course is beautiful, fun, & challenging. Battery powered carts w/ windshield & raincover in back.
Great Course, Interesting and Fun
The course was a lot of fun and in very good shape. The greens are not quite back from being punched a few weeks ago, but were fine. It was definitely a links course. Lots of different looks and shots to make. While lots of wide open fairways, the bunkers and bumps in the fairway made it very challenging. Lots of double greens which kept things interesting.
I look forward to playing the course again soon.
the course was in excellent shape
we had a great round of golf and the course was in tip top shape.
Terrific and unique golf course
The New Course was in great condition, tons of room for tee shots. challenging greens. Practice your long putts and precision chipping before you go if you expect to save strokes in the short game. Did I say great condition? Yes., an beautiful!. You should get their free app for your cell phone and study a bit before going or buy the course picture book in the club house. Lots of pot bunkers but we went in them very seldom. You have many choices on how to play most of the holes. That alone makes me want to return several times. You can just blast away and take what you get or think your way around the course. Bunkers often in middle of fairway but ample fairways on both sides. This is just a totally unique layout with many shared greens like the Old Course at St. Andrews. Probably be a little slow the first time you play because some holes don't have cart paths except around tees and greens(which it great also). Sunday afternoon the course was wide open even with beautiful weather. I can usually remember most every detail about a course after the first time playing it. It will take me 3 more times to take it all in. Our whole group of 4 only lost two balls. Nice day of golf it was well worth the 90 minute drive.
New favorite course
So much fun! The open fairways were great for my girlfriend and I who are both beginners. The staff was extremely friendly and while some of the tee boxes were being renovated the others were perfect. The double greens was a new experience and I enjoyed it thoroughly
Grand Cypress
A grand day for sure ... Played in 3 hours...course in excellent condition.
LOVED IT!!
As I navigate around Grand Cypress' version of the "Old Course" at St. Andrews, I hear the faint sound of bagpipes playing in the background. I love this course! Thank you Mr. Nicklaus for your vision. And a special thanks to all who work very hard keeping the "New Course" and the other 27 holes in terrific shape.
Best layout for a golf course
This is how every golf course should be built! Generous fairways, great condition, and all par three tee boxes are laser shot for yardage in the morning and marked on each tee.
If the staff managed the pace of play better, this might have been one of my favorite rounds of golf I've ever played. It took a twosome 5 hours to play, since no staff managed the pace. Should of taken 3-1/2 with this layout.
If this is truly links golf... sign me up.
SOUTH/EAST NOT NEW COURSE
I booked a tee time for the new course and within minutes got a call from the club saying they were doing work on the new course and could switch me to SOUTH/EAST. No big deal because I got a great deal on golfnow. I played the south course (9holes) in an hour and a half. A single ahead of me, great pace. However when I got to the back 9, 3 4somes are waiting on the tee. Because there are three separate 9 hole courses they can get mixed up with groups playing 18 holes and starting on different 9s. I went to the clubhouse and spoke to Scott, the AM who gave me a raincheck good for another 2 years. I went home not too upset. Try to get out early if you are going to play here, it does get busy. The nine holes I played were in great shape and a nice design with both scenic and challenging holes.
Pace of play so slow
Great course that I would consider playing again BUT the pace of play is painfully slow. It should not take 5hrs to play a round of golf. I believe course marshals should monitor the slowness of play. Very snobby & male orientated course which was a shame.
The Best Golf Course In Orlando
As you should expect form a luxury resort, the staff and service was excellent.
Now the golf,
The course is a links style course and was in excellent shape. THE FAIRWAYS WERE IN BETTER SHAPE THAN MOST OTHER COURSES GREENS.
The greens were rolling about a 9 or a 10 and they were all very consistent.
If you can, you should no you must play this course, you will not be disappointed.
Fairways and greens!
Course is as close as I will get to playing St. Andrews. I recommend it for any avid golfer and the guy who only gets out a few times a year. Play back tees and it will help you to avoid some of the bunkers.
I didn't pay enough to play this course.
I booked at hot deal for this course. $28. That's right, $28 to play the new course. This is a great links style course. Every thing was perfectly manicured from the tee box to the green. If you book online through the golf course it is $150 a round. This is the nicest course I've played in Orlando, by far. It would've been worth $150.
