Your approach to the 8th at Grand Cypress New needs to cross a burn, and you'll drive your cart over a stone bridge toward the green. Kitschy? Sure, but chalk it up to commitment to a certain aesthetic. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 08/31/2018

Fun Course
My expectations were pretty high for this course, and I think it was difficult to meet them. The cart paths are awful but the course was fun and not too tough. The shared greens were very, very big and I can imagine scenarios where you are left with a 250 ft putt.
Great Location/experience
Very pleased with this course. Never played this course so you are never sure. Great layout, pace of play great, challenging and not your average Jack N. Design that kills you. Fun to bring customers that don't play a lot of golf.
Great course but felt a little gimmicky.
Great course the fairways were in immaculate condition, the staff was friendly but a little conceited,
I had to rent a set, and being left handed made it really difficult to get the correct set.
The course has a lot of deep bunkers but the rental set didn't even have a 60 degree wedge. if you are playing this course better bring your own sticks.
The greens could be in better shape, apparently the high echelon crowd doesn't bother to fix there divots.
overall a pleasurable experience.
This is the most beautiful that I played golf course
It is amazing beautiful, wide vision, fairway is very wide ,green beautiful!
Nice
Good condition. Nice rentals. A little expensive but nice overall course conditions. Challenging he's with water and many bunkers in play.
Excellent course
Fun course in excellent shape. Will definitely play again.
Different
Take a break from the typical Florida layout to take on the. New Corse. The fairway bunkers will leave you scratching your head. Trick is going with less off the tee and being precise. Easy to fall victim to what looks like plenty of open fairway, and just bombing the ball out there without a plan. Do that and you'll have plenty of sand in your shoes at day's end. Bunkers could be in better shape as well as the greens. Don't forget to remember what color flag you're going for. Plush fairways and tee boxes. And where is a ranger? Nearly 5 hours ?! If the price is right, snag it- but don't look for a quick getaway.
Excellent course; lousy service
This course is a must play if in the area, as it is unique and fun (if you like the idea of true links golf). Unfortunately, and especially for this area, the staff there is, at best, going through the motions.
Great course!
I have played hundreds of courses throughout the United States and this was one of the best! When I'm in the area again I'll definitely play this course.
Nice test of your short game
Went out as a single with foursomes in front and in back of me. Was never pushed but a 4 3/4 hr round on an unfamiliar course is not a lot of fun as a single. Fairways were relatively firm and you got some roll. Greens had false fronts and in some cases not much landing room. Not a course where you can fire at the pin on a lot of holes. Hitting into double greens made me nervous at times as groups putting on the other side were within 10 yards of my pin. They rolled true and were quick but not overly so. You can see most of the bunkers so you can avoid them at times. I found the GPS system hard to view and not that useful. I think a course of this caliber should have a better system.
Played from the whites and overall enjoyed my round and would come back
Undulated Greens were very challanging
Course was in excellent condition. Your approach shots required accuracy. Several of the greens had false fronts, so missing by a little could have your ball rolling completely off the green.
Very nice...but a must play?
Found an online review that called this one of Orlando's "must play" courses?? Nice place but for $150/round I found it pretty underwhelming. I guess i expected too much from Florida being from the Midwest? Content with the $50 I paid on GolfNow. Great staff too...but for $150 I'd drive to the coast and play.
Most unique course I've played
Very unique course with double greens for each hole and at times got crowded with other players. Loved the condition and openness, very difficult to loose a ball out there. Pace of play was very slow for a late Thursday tee time is my only complaint. Would very diffident play it again.
cart misery
The course was great but the golf cart was bad. It died on the back nine and we pushed and got pushed for 3 holes before replacement carts finally came, message on cart would not work either. Rep at club said someone would call me for a make up round but it has not happened. A nice round spoiled.
A Bit Gimmicky But Still A Good Experience
First, Grand Cypress is a gorgeous place. The entry driving up to the club house is fantastic being lined by trees. The entry alone lets you know you are in for a good time.
The New Course is meant to be a replica of Scotland's Old Course of which 7 holes are nearly identical. I didn't know this going in to it and probably wouldn't have chosen it if I knew it but it was still a good course. You shouldn't lose a ball as it is pretty open like the Old Course. The course is in great shape and they got us out a bit earlier so we were the first out on the course on a cold morning that quickly warmed up.
The greens roll nice and are challenging (the worst part of my game!). It put me a few strokes over my average thanks to my poor putting. The greens were not overly fast but a god pace.
Overall, it was a fun experience and probably something most would enjoy. I would recommend it as it is fun and lets you experience some similarities of the Old Course if you haven't been there. Also, you don't have to be a great golfer to have a good time on this course.
Good for bombers
Love the New Course at Grand Cypress! Wide open lay out means you can score well even if youre not hitting it well. Can be very windy and the greens are tricky. Play this for sure. Very unique!
A gem worth playing
Course was in impeccable condition. Greens not as fast as I had been warned but nice true roll. Mounded, pot bunkered fairways a fun change from usual.
Double greens take some getting used to and on 2 holes, guys in our foursome actually hit to wrong flag - thankfully when green was unoccupied, lol.
Overall a very nice course in excellent condition.
Didn't feel that welcome.
I booked this course as a Golfnow pre-paid Hot Deal almost a week before I played as a single. I got a 1:00 tee time and arrived early to warm up but they didn't have my booking in their system. Good thing I brought along my paper confirmation.
Got grouped with two others who also had a 1:00 booking but the starter said that he had the right to hold us back for 30 minutes since we didn't pay the full rate. Eventually he let us go at 1:00. So weird because there were no tee times booked behind us at all.
My favorite at Grand Cypress
Have played here several times over the last couple months and I've really grown to enjoy the place.
It's unlike any other place in Orlando because it's more links style. You can't exactly play the ball along the ground like you can in Scotland, but you can play different shots around there that you can't play other places.
The first hole, 18th hole experience is pretty neat too, which is designed to be similar to the Old Course feel. It's obviously not the same, but it's still fun to experience.
Big fan of the place.
Must Play If You're In Orlando
We originally booked a round on the New Course and ended up playing the South 9 & East 9 (after talking to the starter and bag boy).
We really appreciated the advice and enjoyed the South- East combo very much and would highly recommend it - if you are looking for a high end course I the Orlando Area. The layout was challenging - but fair. The greens rolled true and we're very quick. The island green on the par 3 - 5th hole of the east course was great - even though I plunked 5 balls in the drink of the tee.
