Lakes/Sunrise at Spanish Trail Country Club
About
Opened in 1984, Spanish Trail Country Club is one of Las Vegas' oldest golf courses. The club offers 27 holes divided into three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire golf course is filled with tree-lined fairways, undulating hills, and sparkling lakes but each nine offers a distinct environment. The Lakes/Sunrise Course is the shortest of the three combinations at 6,957 yards. The aptly named Lakes nine has water coming into play on six holes. Golfers should be prepared for several forced carries as well as water guarding the greensides on five holes. The fifth hole on the Sunrise nine was ranked as one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour back in the late 80s when the club hosted the Las Vegas Invitational. The back nine also has plenty of water, most notably on its signature final hole, which features a scenic waterfall.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012
My review
The course is fair for all levels. It was winter so the staff did a good job keeping the course playable
Great time
I would and will play this course again! Had a great time and met some good people.
Good tract
Enjoyed the course but no oversees on Canyons so some lies were very tight in fairway. But other than that it was very nice. Will play again!
Review of Spanish Trail C. C.
Everything about the Spanish Trail facility was very nice, EXCEPT for an unreported surcharge of $5 which was charged to me upon arrival upon checking in to the Pro Shop. I had already paid for the round online, which the Pro Shop employee indicated would NOT be refunded, if I refused to pay the surcharge. The surcharge was to include: 1) practice balls on the range; 2) use of the putting green (?); and 3) use of the included GPS machine (already included on each cart). I.believe nothing about this surcharge was mentioned in those extra fees I was told I had to pay upon purchasing the round of golf. I feel GolfNow.dealcaddy should look into this, as I believe that Spanish Trail was simply making us help to pay for items they had chosen to purchase whether we wanted to them or not. Please contact me at <kipswihart@yahoo.com> . I feel they acted in a manner that made you look bad . . . And made me a little angry. Thank you.
extra $5 fee?????
hidden fee when all should've been paid for through Golfnow, or be explicit on Gofnow confirmation receipt. Nowhere does it say there is $5 fee per player for GPS, water, range ball.... it's not the money, it is the bad approach to business this reputable golf course has taken..
Poor signage on the gold course layout for a first timer.
We are not advised that the course would charge the guest $ 5/ golfer whether we use the driving range ,or not. It's a surprise since golfnow did not mention this to the golfers. It's a compulsory fee imposed by the course. Would not play again nor recommend to others.
Drought
Being from California we understand all to well about the drought, and it definitely show on this course "dry dry dry " so for that reason alone I would not recommend this course .
spanish trail dec 6/15
First time playing course. Lakes is plush, but pretty tough with all the water and some blind shots. Back nine was the sunrise, not as plush but alright. Tough greens.
Interesting course design for Vegas
This course has more water than any other course in the Vegas area, with some interesting use of water in the landscaping.
First time out the greens may be tricky. Not long by Vegas standards, but the course is plenty challenging
This was a private course and it seems as though some of the members do as they please: we played in under 4 hours and a member twosome played through without asking , skipping the whole we were on without a word. Then did the same to the threesome in front of us a hole later causing all of us to wait on them for the remaining 6 holes ( they were NOT fast players). No marshal anywhere on the course
A classic RTJ course
I am a BIG fan of Robert Trent Jones golf courses!! They are all great layouts that are fun to play at all skill levels. This has been a Las Vegas favorite of mine for many years. Conditions were good, as always. Just a great play....
Challenging course
First time playing this course. When I first arrived to the Pro shop the staff at the desk were ok. Not sure if they wanted to greet someone. Maybe having a bad day.... however, I was paired up with another single. We were sent out behind a four some that were taking longer than expected. Not sure if someone ask them to pick up the pace because after a few hole the waits were shorter.
The course was looking good until you get to the greens. Some golfers don't know how to fix divot. It makes for some difficult putting. We went on to the lakes course and "WOW" it was like we went to a different golf course. Fairways were green and the greens were beautiful and not to many divot holes. Great job greens crews. Over all it was a ok day of golfing. When the pair up up with someone that makes the game go great. You can't beat it.
Two Spanish Trail Courses
The two nine hole courses played, Sunrise and Lakes, were beautiful and very indicative of R.T.Jones Sr. The Lakes course was incredibly gorgeous. Both were in excellent shape and fun to play. I would definitely return to play again.
The course was a challenge
Course was in good shape greens were fast and had a lot of ball marks witch would cause problems with putting. Lot of water seem to draw my ball to go swimming in all was great to play.
Great time
We had fun 3.75 hours to play 18 holes you can enjoy this course at any level
Very nice golf course
One of the nicer golf courses in Las Vegas, challenging yet rewarding experience
Great group expierience
Group of 20,DonAl,played all courses,top 3 Courses around Vegas-Mesquite,this and Wolf Creek,was 2 favorites.
Good course
Very nice course overall. Fairways not as plush as I had read but very adequate. Greens were slick. Greens with lots of divots but I guess not fault of course. Staff very friendly. Callaway rentals were in good shape for $45.
Nice Course
Nice course but very busy on a weekend. Greens are slick and challenging. Would have liked to play at a less crowded time to try and figure out the intricacies of this course but overall, a nice course
Excellent conditions
Enjoyable to play, course was in fantastic condition. However, almost all greens had numerous unrepaired ball marks (as did other courses I played this week). Five dollar up charge for range, GPS and four bottles of water was unexpected.
M.T.
Beautiful course!!! Close to the Strip, but away from the action. Would highly recommend this course!
