Lakes/Sunrise at Spanish Trail Country Club
About
Opened in 1984, Spanish Trail Country Club is one of Las Vegas' oldest golf courses. The club offers 27 holes divided into three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire golf course is filled with tree-lined fairways, undulating hills, and sparkling lakes but each nine offers a distinct environment. The Lakes/Sunrise Course is the shortest of the three combinations at 6,957 yards. The aptly named Lakes nine has water coming into play on six holes. Golfers should be prepared for several forced carries as well as water guarding the greensides on five holes. The fifth hole on the Sunrise nine was ranked as one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour back in the late 80s when the club hosted the Las Vegas Invitational. The back nine also has plenty of water, most notably on its signature final hole, which features a scenic waterfall.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012
Well maintained and beautiful layout.
Tell your friends this is the course to golf in Las Vegas for well maintained and beautiful layout. You won't be disappointed.
Great track for anyone
Course played well but extremely windy day added plenty of challenge. Liked the wider than average fairways, fairways in good conditions and green very nice. Recommended for anyone visiting in the Vegas area, all skill levels.
Spanish Trail
Nice layout, course conditions were good. We played early, pace of play was good, friendly staff and lunch in the restaurant was very good.
Quick
Pace of play was almost as fast as the greens...No stopping the ball. I'm sure the next time I play it I will have a better idea of where you want to be on the greens.
Canyon course was in poor shape.
Canyon nine was in poor shape for the price. Lakes was excellant but still not sure if worth the price. Pace of play was ok.
Interesting course
Pace of play was good.,, course was well maintained. Beautiful homes on the course. Clubhouse attractive.
Good potential but current conditions fair....dead fish in pond, dying shrubs, and dead grass in many fairways.
Poor choice for the greens fee charge. If investment is made on necessary maintenance, the course could be a desirable place to play.
Overall a very nice course
All was great except two things-
My play on the back nine-the Lakes. First time playing since October.
The $5 per person fee which should be included in the online fee. To surprise a golfer with extra cost is a bit cheesy.
Spanish Trails es muy bueno! (Spanish Trials is very good )
Spanish Trails is a beautiful course which is conveniently located just a few miles from the Vegas strip off Tropicana. Each hole offers an interesting layout and challenge. The views of the snow capped mountains were visible throughout the course and the scenery on the course was spectacular. Some of the water features on the Lakes 9 were world class - I have played many $200-$500 resort courses in 13 other counties and I mean WORLD CLASS! Forget about the old, dying Las Vegas National from the 1970's, or beat up Vegas courses like Las Vegas Golf Club for $29, and include Spanish Trials on EVERY Vegas trip.
Golfnow advisory! I booked this round for $53 on Golfnow. Yes, they hit me for $5 cash to use the range, or GPS, or 2 waters in the cart, or fairy dust, or magic beans, or some other bogus hidden charge which other reviews have complained about. However, I felt $58 was an absolute bargain for this beautiful course. Also, Spanish Trials is a PRIVATE COURSE which has undoubtedly been forced to use Golfnow to pay the bills, and everyone will know you are not a member. For example, I heard the starter announce, "Mr. Trump, sir, please feel free to head over to the first tee box when you are ready, sir. Then I heard the drill sergeant Golfnow announcement, "Smith, Jones, first tee box". When I showed up at the pro shop the manager seemed annoyed and confused that he had some "Golfnow bookings" to handle and for some reason he was unaware of the bookings. You could actually hear the tone of distain when he said "Golfnow bookings". You are not a member when you play Spanish Trials and they will let you know it!
Brilliant!
I was over on a stag do (bachelor party) from the UK and wanted to play a round of golf whilst my mates went and did the Canyon Tour.
I booked here on a hot deal and was instantly made up with my choice. The club was only 10 mins or so from the strip which made the cab journey very reasonable.
On arrival, it was easy to sign in and I was shown to the range where I was able to warm up with free range balls and use of the putting/ chipping area.
I was playing on my own and the club starter kindly found me two local guys to play along side, making my experience much more social.
The course was in great condition and I would definitely play here again.
Great course
Booked hot deal on golf now for $45 which is a fair price for this course. I had to pay upfront for tee time which I don't prefer to do but in ok with it. Upon arrival and check in I was told by pro shop I needed to pay an additional $5 per player for 2 waters and GPS. This has never been charged to me at this course in the past. It was pretty petty for them to charge that know that it was already to late to cancel tee time since I was already at the course. The staff was not very accommodating and didn't attempt to help me in any way. Unfortunately I don't ever plan to go back to this course again.
This course has a beautiful backdrop
This course has a beautiful backdrop with the multi million dollar houses and The waterfalls on the Lakes course. A course is outstanding and beautiful . An excellent course for the mid and low handicap golfer..
The BIG GAME Weekend
Played on Sunday of the Big Game, Teed up around 10 AM and finished in time to get home. Course was in great shape and fun to play. Starting on the Lakes was brutal, lost more balls in 9 holes than the rest of my 4 round trip. LOL My fault, needed a 9 hole warm up.
We had a great day!
Weather was great, pro shop staff were efficient, driving range and putting green were in great shape and courses were in good shape. We played Lakes and Sunrise and we had a 4 and one half hour round. Price was excellent. Highly recommend it!
Surprises
I paid my greens fees(plus booking fees) and thought I was paid. When I arrived at the course to check in I was advised that they charge $5 per person for "range and putting green access and two bottles of water." I thought that was a cheap shot by such a prestigious facility.
Great Scenic Course
Played Lakes/Sunrise 9's and thoroughly enjoy the course. Fairways are pretty wide with many traps. Greens were excellent and consistent. There are many scenic holes with water, houses, and snowcapped mountains to accent the feel of the area. I never felt like I was playing the same hole again. We played from the back tees but there was plenty of other options for different skill levels. Driving ramge balls were included and $50 Callaway rentals were nice. The clubhouse had a private countryclub feel. We played a few holes on the Canyon 9 which was brown for the winter(no overseed). We didn't get slowed up by anyone and play was about 3 hours for our 2-some. If you go take a camera as there was a few spots worth the time to shoot a pic. Also some huge homes on the Sunrise nine that were nice to look at while driving. All in all a great day!!!
Great scenic layout
I played this course while in town for a business trade show. Driving up made you feel like you were at a private country club. It is a gated golf course community. We played as a two-some in 3 hours(Lakes & Sunrise 9's). We also played a few extra holes on the Canyon 9. For winter conditions I felt it was in very good shape. Some areas of thin grass and brown areas. For the Canyon 9 all fairways were brown as they don't overseed that nine so it doesn't have the pure green appearance. In all we enjoyed the course and the greens rolled great. There were many great holes that were challenging with level changes with mountain back drop. We played the back tees but there were other sets of tees depending on skill level. We needed rental sets and it cost $50 per bag, nice Callaways. Included in the Golf Now fee was range balls and they didn't hit us with the $5 fee others had wrote about on other reviews. We found a "Hot Deal" of $48 per golfer and we felt it was a great value for the course.
Greatest day in Vegas!
Finished the soccer tournament early and had an extra day to enjoy in Vegas. Could not have picked a better way to spend the day! Thank you.
Will charge an extra $5 for gps at course
Despite having a receipt from golf now stating my round was prepaid I was charged an extra $5 per player for the gps in our carts. Very rude service. When I asked if there was anybody to talk to about the additional charges I was told I could bring it up to the board of directors. They act like it was a privilege to play their course. Average at best. Do not waste your time.
