Lakes/Sunrise at Spanish Trail Country Club
About
Opened in 1984, Spanish Trail Country Club is one of Las Vegas' oldest golf courses. The club offers 27 holes divided into three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire golf course is filled with tree-lined fairways, undulating hills, and sparkling lakes but each nine offers a distinct environment. The Lakes/Sunrise Course is the shortest of the three combinations at 6,957 yards. The aptly named Lakes nine has water coming into play on six holes. Golfers should be prepared for several forced carries as well as water guarding the greensides on five holes. The fifth hole on the Sunrise nine was ranked as one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour back in the late 80s when the club hosted the Las Vegas Invitational. The back nine also has plenty of water, most notably on its signature final hole, which features a scenic waterfall.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012
Great course.......But hidden changes...
Course was great.... But once i got there and went into the golf shop they charged me $10 for range and water.....i had no choice but to pay it and i didn't use the range and most course give you water.
favorite vegas course
everything about this course is great from tees to greens
Spanish trail
Course was well maintained. Staff was friendly. Pass was great.
Great views
Great course but Golfnow failed to tell you that the course charges an extra $5.00 for water, range balls, and something else I forgot.....
Warning Extra Charges
Course is very good with many challenging holes, but be aware that they charge extra $$ above the GolfNow rate for what they call "practice fees, GPS and bottles of water". The staff is ambivalent at best. Very annoying for a course of the quality.
Spanish Trails
Had a 7:20 tee time and was not allowed to go out till 8:10 am. Was placed behind several groups of members playing in fivesomes and waited for almost every shot. Course was being aerated leaving poor lies even in the fairway. Staff was unfriendly and unaccomodating. We sat around for almost an hour and a half, could have gone out early as no one was on the course. An unpleasant experience all around.
Spanish trails canyon/sunrise
Great price $25 but at pro shop they charge you another $5 per player for their GPS on cart and two bottles water for two players. Still great course.
Spanish Trails
I was very happy with the course and how well it played. Only thing that was not right was an additional $5 fee charged per person after a full payment paid online.
Nice course
Everything was great. Some pitch marks on the greens could be fixed better. However this was a great course to play. Started at 3.30 finished at 7pm.
Worth playing on occasion.
I found where all the water went in Las Vegas! This course definitely has some lakes on it, which is a refreshing change from lots of our other courses around town. It has waterfalls and trees, but most of the fairways are fairly wide open (at least to some of the other community golf courses in town). The houses are really expensive with lots of windows, so if you pull or push the ball, but the driver away and use a fairway wood. The houses aren't very close, but too nice to (and scary) to damage (the owners may have "sniper butlers" who will take you out (LOL)! The practice facility was nice, with some of the smoothest grass I have ever seen (it's fast). The golf carts are nice with GPS suggestion comments showing up like "don't forget to fix you ball mark, along with another ball mark for the bum who forgot to fix theirs" (I may have paraphrased that a bit). If you book on Golf Now, they will ask you for $5 when you get their to cover your range balls (doesn't matter if you don't want any) and your two bottles of water they put in the cart. There isn't any water to drink on the course (thus the water), but if it's hot, bring more. With 36-holes to cover, the cart girls can only make it around about once per hour (but they were nice). Pace of play was very slow. I played in the morning (8:50 am) and there were 5-groups ahead of me that were all backed up. It didn't seem like there was a course marshal keeping things moving (although it was a Saturday). With all the water, you may want to bring some extra balls. Overall it is a very nice course, and I had a nice time. The food in the bar/restaurant was very good.
Great and challenging course
This course was great, challenging and can keep you coming back to master the course. Enjoyed it.
Extra chArge
Almost everything was very good at this facility. One issue that several Golf Now participants complained of was an additional $5 fee per player that was charged stated to cover the cost of Driving Range & water. No one expected this as it has never been charged in the past nor was there any posting of the additional cost. Appeared to be taking advantage of the bookings made through Golf Now.
Great layout!
i only give 4 stars because it's summer, i'm sure the rest of the year it's a 5 star, there were a few holes with sprinklers going on some brown patches that made for some mushy areas. Very nice layout with risk/reward options, we played the whites and it was plenty long for me, i generally drive it in the 280 range, left me different clubs on approach unlike a lot of places where it's just driver and wedge. There's plenty of room for mistakes, however, i recommend trying for fairway, the ruff is penalizing, it will kill your ball, and it's not the easiest to play from. Par 3's are mostly in the mid to long range, none of those little 90 yarders. We play auto fluff in the sand out here because out here all the sand is compacted to the point where it's like hitting from the cartpath, this place was no different except the fact that the sand is more of that crushed pebble type. The greens were soft in feel and pretty receptive, putting was a real challenge though, not a lot of straight putts. They do force you to buy 2 waters and range balls for $5, i don't mind that, but why not just put it in the price instead of putting people on the spot like they do, it can start your round with a bad taste. All in all we had a good time and will definately be going back.
Unexpected charges
Liked the price listed on golf now so booked it. Upon checking in, was told there will be another 5$ charge per person for water gps and cart. Nowhere is there any mention of extra fees going to be charged upon checking in. Just saying maybe some kind of footnote of these charges would be appropriate.
Great challenging course
Course is very nice and I will return for a great time. One thing of note, when we arrived the course the staff said we had to pay a $5 surcharge each for the bottle water in the cart.
wonderful setting
Very nice course with very different type of holes to keep your interest at a high level The course is located in a fab, community.
Well Conditioned Test of Golf
Played as a single early on a Sunday. Played the Lakes and Sunset nines (they have a total of three nine hole layouts). The course is typical of RTJ, Jr. designs---fairly moderate fairway widths and enough hazards to make it a challenge. There were no blind holes (a good thing) and a fair amount of water/sand hazards. Found a good deal on Golf Now ($100) which is fairly priced given the excellent course conditions, i.e. smoothly manicured greens which were a bit tricky to read. I have played all of Par 4 Golf Company's courses in Vegas, and I rate this one on par with both of Primm Valley's courses (Desert and Lakes). The white tees measured around 6,400 yards which makes for a fun round for the 80's shooter. The back tees measure around 7,000 yards and would be challenging for the 70's caliber golfer. Clubhouse facilities, pro shop, locker rooms, etc. are also excellent. All in all, a great value and nice day to golf, albeit the hot temperatures. I finished before noon, therefore not too scorching. :0)
the course was awome
arron the clerk at the pro shop was nasty forced us to pay $5.00 per player for water &gps wich we had our own the money was not the issue the way he demaned we had to pay
ONE OF THE BEST IN VEGAS
I'VE BEEN A STATE CHAMPION TWICE IN NEVADA AND HAVE LIVED IN LAS VEGAS FOR OVER 40 YEARS. I'AM A +2 AND COULD PLAY ST EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE AND HAVE NO REGRETS, IT'S THAT GOOD.
