Lakes/Sunrise at Spanish Trail Country Club
About
Opened in 1984, Spanish Trail Country Club is one of Las Vegas' oldest golf courses. The club offers 27 holes divided into three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire golf course is filled with tree-lined fairways, undulating hills, and sparkling lakes but each nine offers a distinct environment. The Lakes/Sunrise Course is the shortest of the three combinations at 6,957 yards. The aptly named Lakes nine has water coming into play on six holes. Golfers should be prepared for several forced carries as well as water guarding the greensides on five holes. The fifth hole on the Sunrise nine was ranked as one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour back in the late 80s when the club hosted the Las Vegas Invitational. The back nine also has plenty of water, most notably on its signature final hole, which features a scenic waterfall.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012
perfect place to play
Visiting from Alaska this course made our stay in Las Vegas. I've played other places in the area but Spanish Trails is now on my top ten list of must play again.
AS ALWAYS
I HAD A GREAT TIME AT THIS GOLF COURSE, ITS NICE, WIDE OPEN AND CHALLENGING, PLENTY OF WATER IF YOU LIKE THAT, THE ONLY THING WAS SOME OF THE GREENS HAD A BUNCH OF DIVOTS, ITS A MEMBER CLUB SO I WOULD ASSUME THE MEMBERS DON'T LIKE TO FIX DIVOTS, GREENS WERE SUPER FAST. OVERALL IT WAS GREAT, I WOULD GO BACK AGAIN.
This course has shots for every golfer
The fairways were lush, the traps had lots sand and easier to get out of and the greens were great
Good deal
Found course in good shape. Greens were a good speed and the course had some excellent holes. Challenging but not so hard that it beats you up. Will play here again my next time in Vegas.
Great Deal
I booked last minute, played Canyon and Sunrise courses. Canyon was in great shape, back from over seed and played amazing. The Sunrise is not quite back from over seed and was cart path/rough only, played really well overall, greens are tough to read. Course played fast in the midweek, driving range was down so that was a bummer. Overall well worth the rate.
Tale of 2 9's
Played here early on a weekday afternoon. Our twosome finished in 3 hrs 15 min. Started with Canyon then to Lakes. Sunrise was closed due to overseed.
Canyon has just returned from overseed and in excellent conditions. This 9 is also a bit easier with wide fairways and large greens.
Lakes had yet to begin their overseed process and the fairways were a bit beat. Lakes is also a tougher 9 with more water in play and trickier tee shots to hit.
Beautiful scenery
Great conditions, very playable but challenging. Some hole positions where very questionable. All in all I will be back!
spanish trails
nice course. played canyon and lakes. thought course was fair and had some diversity well maintained enjoyed it very much
Good time
Nice course, played from the tips and shot 94, so it was a challenge and a pretty course
Great
Lazy afternoon leisure golf on excellent course. Great staff fantastic value!
bad time
The course was being overseeded. The first tee was so wet, like a swamp. Started on the Canyon then the Lakes. Lakes sand traps should have been ground under repair. I understand the need for revenue, but not a good day.
Great course
great course. Very challenging and took around 3.5 hours to finish. I'll be playing that course again
Fair.
Use of practice range and gps should be included in green fee. We had maintenance crews on almost every hole of Sunrise course....noisy equipment close to tee grounds. Lake side was good. Overall, fair but somewhat disappointed.
Misleading fees, understaffed
We prepaid on golf now 40×2 plus taxes. 86 bucks. We paid with a credit card on golf now and on the site it says $0 due at course. So as soon as we get to the course they say $5 due a piece for GPS and range balls.
They then follow it up with $2 waters on a 105° day.
I can't stand being nickel and dimed.
We tried to get waters and food at the turn, had to wait 10 minutes for the staff to show up. When the round ended, there were no guys there to clean the clubs or anything.
Pretty disappointed in a course I usually enjoy, but the extra hidden fees and lack of professionalism was unacceptable.
Very Nice
Enjoyed my round very much. Played in just under 4 hours and enjoyed the layout. Will play here again.
Challenging but many options
Like the combo tee options. Course makes you think when playing tee shots and approaches. Greens were sanded recently on Lakes 9 but rolled true and close to speed of Canyons 9. Fairways were good but not great. Greens held nicely and had undulations to make you think about chips and putts. Advantage if you play with someone who knows the course. Played under four hours. Nice practice facility. $5 charge not included in Golf Now price covered range balls and GPS so not bad. Loved the food in the restaurant/bar.
Excellent course, in great shape
First time playing the course. Challenging without killing you. Its in great shape, easy to get to, friendly and helpful staff. We will play it again.
This is a scenic course.
I was paired up with another single, and we were behind a 5 some group, after the 3rd hole my playing partner yelled some profanities and left the course. i was disappointed in the course condition. There were bare spots in the fairways and the greens had more ball marks that were not repaired than I have seen in a long time. The course is a scenic course and can be challanging from the different tee boxes. The sand traps were very graining and had lots of small to med size rocks, could easily damage your clubs. The facilities were nice, but since I only payed $25.00 to play it was OK, I would not recommend at the $80.00 rate.
Your Golf Now Tee Time May Not Be Honored
I booked a 7:10am Spanish Trail Sunday morning tee time through GolfNow. When my group arrived at the course the professional said that the tee time was 7:40am rather than 7:10am. I showed him my confirmation but he said it did not matter as the course was full
Assuming that the GolfNow system had access to Spanish Trail inventory, one can only assume that the course elected to give away the tee time to a member. Spanish Trail is a private club, but they should not have the option to sell tee times that they do not plan to honor. Either stay fully private, or sell open spots and honor the reservations
We ended up teeing off at close to 8:00am, the course moved at a 5 hour pace, and we finished around 1pm. This was not expected when we booked a "Fast Play" tee time first thing in the morning
