Lakes/Sunrise at Spanish Trail Country Club
About
Opened in 1984, Spanish Trail Country Club is one of Las Vegas' oldest golf courses. The club offers 27 holes divided into three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire golf course is filled with tree-lined fairways, undulating hills, and sparkling lakes but each nine offers a distinct environment. The Lakes/Sunrise Course is the shortest of the three combinations at 6,957 yards. The aptly named Lakes nine has water coming into play on six holes. Golfers should be prepared for several forced carries as well as water guarding the greensides on five holes. The fifth hole on the Sunrise nine was ranked as one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour back in the late 80s when the club hosted the Las Vegas Invitational. The back nine also has plenty of water, most notably on its signature final hole, which features a scenic waterfall.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012
Super value!
Beautiful facility, challenging course and friendly staff. Great experience!
Very good value for the money
We played the Canyon and Lakes. Although the Canyon had a desert like rough where the ball could bounce and roll a long way, the Lakes was more difficult as the rough is long thick and heavy grass making it difficult for the second shot.
Woudl play again any time.....
A good course, ruined by callous staff and lousy rentals. Taking advantage of visitors.
This course offered a good, challenging layout. The course was in good condition. However, our round was tainted by the disgraceful golf clubs that Spanish Trail purports to offer as full name brand Callaway or TaylorMade sets. The sets we rented were not brand-complete and several had broken down grips. When I went to exchange my driver mid-round (cord grip completely broken down) the staff knew right away what the problem was before I stated it - obvoiusly this a common complaint. When we raised our concerns at the end of the round, the pro shop response was..."so what". A good course tainted by the mistreatment of visitors on rentals
Fast and Bumpy greens.
Many great qualities about this course. You will be pleased by the beauty of this course. There are different types of courses. The unfortunate thing is that the greens were pleasantly quick but painfully bumpy. Could not get a true roll on any green. Very frustrating. The staff was not terribly friendly and borderline dismissive. With an attitude adjustment of the staff and better maintenance of the greens, this could be a fantastic course. The time of year may be an explanation for the greens but not for the attitudes of the personnel.
Well Done
This course has a prestigious feel. Well landscaped, well kept and a nice layout. Even being built throughout housing, it does not intimidate you. Many nice water features, very enjoyable to play. Look forward to playing again.
Excellent Private Course that now lets the public book some tee times.
The Clubhouse and Range are top notch facilities. The Staff is very helpful and friendly. The course has a challenging layout with excellent, tough greens. The course conditioning was superb. Having played 5 other courses in Las Vegas, this course was easily the nicest and most fun and challenging.
This course has great scenic beauty with canyons/mountains in background
Great course! We played the back tees, which is incredibly long and challenging if you are not hitting the ball straight. We got the deal of the day which costed $75 a person. That was a total steal for the time/course/day. You better make sure you are below the hole because our group had a great amount of trouble putting with our handicaps ranging between 5-10. Definitely recommend this course and will play it again if we choose to play in Vegas again!
Definitely exceeded my expecations!
I would play this course every time I go back to Vegas. It is beautiful, picturesque and well manicured with great staff.
This course is in great condition. Friendly staff!
The course was in great condition. They have 27 holes here so you could play several combinations. Even though this course is in a community there is ample room to hit a stray shot and not worry about hitting a house. This isn't your typical desert course. There is grass in the rough between fairways. I really enjoyed this track.
nice course. staff resents catering to non members
They gave away my 11:40 tee time to someone else even though i had a confirmation number and had pre-paid.
Great, great, great oh did I say GREAT
To get a tee time at this course for under $60 is a complete steal. The staff is amazing, the practice facility is convenient and well kept, and the course is great. Very pristine condition, not one complaint about the condition of the course and this is early March, amazing. Greens roll quick and true (perfect!) Fairways are on the wider side and rough is very consistent. Everything about this course makes me want to come back again. Oh, just a heads up, it is in a private community so you will have to enter through the main gate on W Tropicana and get a visitor pass. Security is very nice though and welcomes golfers.
Very nice course.
Great course, nobody was playing it on a Saturday. I flew threw eighteen holes by myself, I'm sure it would've been much more fun to play with someone.
A Hidden Gem
Excellent lay out, Pace of play was superb. Real fun track. Greens and course conditions were excellent condition. Hopefully this course doesn't get overun by Stupid Slow players in the future.
Great course
Great layout. Definately wamt a course layout book the first time you play it.
Good course, slow pace
I was late to tee time, and staff was super friendly and accomodating. As a single, I was told I would be joined to another group. However, when I was sent to the start (canyon course), there was no other group and no starter.
I wound up behind a threesome and ahead of a foursome. The course was backed up, with a six-some ahead of us all. Not cool, but the staff was good about it (an extra beer from the cart person, who then drove to the snack shop to get me a hot dog).
Course is pretty, narrow in parts, hills, water, sand. Not very long from the white tees, but good challenges and requires a variety of shots.
Would definitely play again.
Well maintained private course with picturesque views and great rates
Have played 8-10 courses in Vegas now, of varying prices and conditions. This was definitely one of the better maintained courses. Our first nine was on the Canyons course (they have 3 nines) and it was pretty dry off the fairways and greens but still well kept. Our back nine was on the Lakes course and it was as green as could be. All the greens (both courses we played) were in great shape.
The staff was very friendly. We rented clubs, 2 RH and 1 LF but all of their LH rentals were out on the course. We were early but by tee time we still didn't have a lefty set so the guy in the proshop went to their store room to see what he could find. He put together a the best set he could, apologized for not having a "nicer" lefty set of club, and did not charge any of us for our rentals (supposed to be $50 each).
Pace of play was excellent. Would definitely play again.
Bring your best putting game!
Until about a year ago this was a members only private club. Recently it was opened to limited public play. Three 9's - Sunrise, The Lakes and Canyon, we played Sunrise and Lakes. Very enjoyable all around golf experience. After playing hundreds of courses from coast-to-coast and border to border, this course rates very high on my list of favorites. If the golfer doesn't like water the (Lakes) course will not agree with you. If the golfer can't play out of the sand very well - don't bet your buddies much on your round here - you WILL spend time in the many bunkers. The greens while in very good condition and rolled true, were as tough to read as any I've seen, with multiple and hidden breaks everywhere. So if you like a challenge and play well out of sand and putt really well you will make a killing playing with guys who don't. Can't wait to play this course(s) again.
vegas golf trip
Definitely the BEST course I played on the trip! For a private course the staff was beyond friendly and courteous. Got on as a single and they were quick to pair me up to make sure I didn't play alone. played canyon/lakes which is a great combo to transition after 9 nine holes! If you go to Vegas to play Spanish Trails MUST be at the top of the list, great value and a very nice course!
Perfect course to play when in Vegas. We will come back!!
We had a blast!!! Thanks for the great courses! We will be using this feature again as we always do!
