Lakes/Sunrise at Spanish Trail Country Club
About
Opened in 1984, Spanish Trail Country Club is one of Las Vegas' oldest golf courses. The club offers 27 holes divided into three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire golf course is filled with tree-lined fairways, undulating hills, and sparkling lakes but each nine offers a distinct environment. The Lakes/Sunrise Course is the shortest of the three combinations at 6,957 yards. The aptly named Lakes nine has water coming into play on six holes. Golfers should be prepared for several forced carries as well as water guarding the greensides on five holes. The fifth hole on the Sunrise nine was ranked as one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour back in the late 80s when the club hosted the Las Vegas Invitational. The back nine also has plenty of water, most notably on its signature final hole, which features a scenic waterfall.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012
Nice track but conditions weren't what you would imagine at a private course
Bunkers ha little to no sand and lots of blind shots with no course info to guide you around. Staff was super friendly
Room to hit driver off the tee on most holes without houses in play. Greens in good condition, fast and true. Holes so gorgeous I took many pictures
Met with helpful and friendly staff at the pro shop counter. Nice set of rental clubs. Would have liked the course layout shown on the scorecard. Enjoyed playing this course and will be back.
Challenging course in good condition very enjoyable
Lovely course in very good condition for time of year.Friendly staff in club house which encouraged us to play course a second time at a reasonable price.
We didn't purchase course guide which was really a necessity since we lost a number of balls because water hazards were not visable at a distance after tee shot.
this course has some tough holes and lake features
staff was great course was in great shape played canyon and lakes greens were fast
Great value and location
Course is a private RTJ jr. design that opens up tee times for some public play. Less than 20 min from the strip. Wonderful welcome from the staff and the condtiions were very good, particularly after some frost delays in the previous 10-14 days.
I have already recommended this course to others and will be playing it again when I return to Vegas, especially with the GolfNow pricing.
No GPS on carts
Nice course but several hidden hazards. Local knowledge of course is needed or GPS on carts to show these hazards in the middle of the fairway. I understand this is a country club and not a resort course.
loved to wild life great time
Excellent condition staff very helpful and I played it well "A real bonus".
had a great experiance
the course employees were very courteous and help full since it
my first time playing this course.
nice course,
$50 resident rate booked on GolfNow for Sunday, February 17 at 12:20pm, played Lakes/Canyon, fairway grass is a little thin and has a carpet feel in some areas but is very green overall, greens roll fast, water hazards all over Lakes course that are difficult to see if unfamiliar with course, overall a nice course and good pace of play
a nice change from the desert courses, conveniently located near the strip
we have played many of the golf courses in and around las vegas and this one was a pleasant surprise.its very close to the strip down tropicana ave so its easy to find. staff are friendly .the course is in great condition and not overly hard.as a 6 handicapper i played off the back tees and didnt feel out of my depth.the lakes nine is defianetly the more interesting 9.it has a more parklands feel about it than your usual desert target golf.certanly a much better option than some others around the vegas area
Great course
Played Lake/Sunrise on 12/22/12. The course was in great shape overall. NIcely designed holes with undulated greens made our golfing experience somewhat challenging but super fun. We all enjoyed the course very much and definitely will be back again.
Proshop staffs are super nice but people at the bag drops are quite opposite. They can definitely do better with customer service.
FYI, we played at Paiute Wolf and TPC Las Vegas as well. All have different perspectives but this course got two votes for #1 spot.
Beautiful private golf course!
Played this course while on vacation from St. louis. Course was in great shape. Speedy greens. Club house was immaculate. Weather was in the mid 50s but sunny. Got a great weekend last minute hot deal through Golfnow for $37. The only complaint is the golf club rentals, Callaway Diablo irons and an older Burner driver that were in dire need of new grips and they had stiff shafts. Found this place on very short notice. Was having trouble booking the course via iphone. made a call to Golfnow and the booking was completed! All good!
Nice experience!
Nice course in gated community. Played in 4.5 hrs, course in good shape for time of year (mid Dec). Would play again!
Great Staff
The Staff was very friendly from the pro shop to the cart girls, to the wait staff, everyone was great. I got my first Hole In One on the Lakes 3rd hole.
Good facility and good conditions with fast greens!!
The course was in great condition, the greens alittle wet, but fast.
It's a challenging course with really nice shots to the greens. The staff was excellent.
Course in good shape; greens moderately fast; some tricky holes if you've never played here before
While pricey, the course (consisting of 3 nines: canyon, lakes, & sunrise) is in great shape with several very interesting holes and some spectacular houses surrounding. My wife and I enjoyed playing lakes and sunrise there. Typically, it was very windy when we played yet we each scored well on several holes both with and against the 30+ mph winds; by and large, most holes are reasonable length and contour although there are hidden bunkers and deep gulleys that can surprise you. Course knowlege is essential at Spanish Trails; don't expect to score well overall your first time on it. There is a lot of attention to such things as lakes, streams, waterfalls and terraced flowers beds and terraced ponds (all with green processed water) which, for example, gives one of their two signature holes, #3, a beautiful but tricked up appearance. If you haven't played #3 before you might not know that you have to fully carry this 160 yard hole onto the green or your ball is lost in the water or flowers; it needs to treated like a raised island green - long by one or two club lengths (depending on the wind) is the safe shot. The staff were very helpful and friendly, but clearly members run this club and they seem to take liberties that you might not find in most other clubs, e.g., parking their carts literally right beside the green. Play is fast, which is the way members want it, and that was fine with us. The greens were good, but not as fast or quite as true as we like. The views of the distant mountains as you play are incredible; this is a very picturesque course with many great golf holes and enjoyable to play. Of the courses in the greater Las Vegas area, Spanish Trails would not be my first choice to come back to as there are "purer" golf experiences available.
Beautiful golf coarse - 5 Stars
Wonderful experience and view!
Pros: trash can and ball washer on every teebox, full service snack/beverage cart.
Cons: no GPS on carts or overhead maps of coarse.
The proximity to the "Strip" make this very convenient. One of Las Vegas's best public golf coarse.
Great Country Club feel, for out of town golfers!
This was my second time playing this course. Same results. Played Sunrise+Lake combo nice elevation changes and scenery. They have 3 nines and from what I can see all are well maintained. Greens are nice and soft right now, perfect for great high approach "bombs". Try the Blue-White combo tees, it will give you all you can handle and make it a challenge on par 5's. Great friendly staff at the halfway house.
Great pace of play
Always enjoyed this course. Well maintained and challenging. Surroudings and location ideal too. Best of all, the course doesn't squeeze too many groups in so pace-of-play was perfect. Nobody ahead of our group and nobody behind.
