Opened in 1984, Spanish Trail Country Club is one of Las Vegas' oldest golf courses. The club offers 27 holes divided into three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire golf course is filled with tree-lined fairways, undulating hills, and sparkling lakes but each nine offers a distinct environment. The Lakes/Sunrise Course is the shortest of the three combinations at 6,957 yards. The aptly named Lakes nine has water coming into play on six holes. Golfers should be prepared for several forced carries as well as water guarding the greensides on five holes. The fifth hole on the Sunrise nine was ranked as one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour back in the late 80s when the club hosted the Las Vegas Invitational. The back nine also has plenty of water, most notably on its signature final hole, which features a scenic waterfall.

Very nice coarse. We played the Canyon & Lakes off the white tees; Lakes was more challenging

The only drawback were the bunkers; they barely had sand in them. It was compact underneath.

Well worth braving the heat!

The hottest day (118F) of the year and we managed to get through it! The staff was great. Everyone from the gentlemen that took our clubs out of the cab to the pro shop to the bartenders. The pro shop encouraged us to take as much bottled water (from the cooler on the range) as we wanted to keep hydrated. The course was in great shape especially for the time of year and provided some great views. The price was right for my cheap friends that didn't even brave the heat to play but it payed off well for the two of us that did. I would play again next time I visit Vegas.

Great, challenging course. Would play anytime.

As stated above, the course was great. The lakes course had a number of beautiful water features with waterfalls. The only less than positive comment is that there was no course layout, pin sheets, etc. to help a first-time player navigate the course. For example, there were a couple of holes where, you didn't know there was water until you were in it.

Great shape!

This course was extremely well manicured and very playable. The layout was terrific. Many large greens which were in incredible condition. Some very picturesque holes. We were two players and finished in just a little over 3hrs. We teed off at 11am and it just worked out that it was wide open ahead of us. If I lived in Vegas I would consider becoming a member. I don't need bells a whistles when I play golf...just a good course and I got that. Since carts do not have GPS, a range finder will come in handy for exact distance as flags are all the same color.

Was Plesantly Surprised With the Track

Didn't know what to expect with this track, but was pleased with what I saw. I played the Lakes, Sunrise 9's. The Lakes is exactly what you get, as water comes into play on I believe 6 of the 9 holes, with some if them (ponds) quite impressive. The Sunrise is not quite as impressive as the Lakes, nor as difficult, but both 9's were well maintained with fairways well manicured and greens that rolled true. I paid $69 (Hot Deal) which was a very good price for this track. The service was also very good. The only knock I would have with this course is that there are homes all around this course. All in all a fun track worth the priced paid and would play again.

Great course. Excellent value.

My wife and I flew into Vegas for a quick weekend getaway. Played Spanish Trail, and thoroughly enjoyed it. We played the Lakes/Sunrise courses. The courses were in great shape, and we enjoyed the layout. This course was 100% private in the past. The amenities are reflective of that. I would highly recommend playing this great track.

Its a real gem!!

Never played this course before. Access to the country club is through a gate and it took about 15 minutes for the line of cars in front of me to get processed...not that I mind but one's time management should allow for this. The pro shop was very informative about how to play various holes (where the water is, etc.). The golf cart comes with a cooler and two water bottles per player, wet towel and tees...The practice facilty includes a range and short game (bunker, chipping and couple of greens), all in great condition. The course itself winds through the country club homes...could use better signage to help navigating between holes. Overall, had a great experience playing here at Spanish Canyon.

Dissapointing

I was really looking forward to playing here. We teed off as a threesome then a member and his wife flew up and announced they were going to play with us. He informed us that members are allowed to play wherever they want and can have as many as 6 in their group if they so desire. They ruined our round.

The golf course turned to out to be nothing special. Water comes in play on a few holes - some you won't see until its too late. They have no play books, no maps, nothing on the scorecard to warn you about hidden trouble. The member wouldn't say anything. The sand traps are full of gravel and large stones. Some greens are burnt out. Fairways were OK.

Stopped in for a beer at their beautiful clubhouse. Rude, fowl mouthed bartender. Added his own 18% gratuity to our bill.

I can understand why they are having problems getting members.

Beautiful course, not far from the strip, at a good price.

I am a so-so golfer at best, but my two friends and I, along with a fourth we were teamed up with, enjoyed this course thoroughly. The holes were challenging, the views were terrific, and the service was top notch. This will likely be my first choice for golfing the next time I am in the Vegas area, and I think my friends would agree there.

Does have the most beautiful par 3 hole I have ever seen. Don't remember the hole number but the ball flies over a pond to an elevater green. Beautif

I have played 12 courses in Vegas in the last couple of years and would have to rank this one in the bottom 5 but all of the courses from 5 and up were in good condition. This one just wasn't as attractive as several of the others and didn't seem any different from the courses I play in Georgia. I was expecting a desert type course I guess.

The course has great features

Played Canyon and Lakes of the three 9 hole courses available. Enjoyed both as each were different. Wayward shots are penalized (I lost a few ball for being off line) and greens slop back to front. I would recommend to my friends to play the courses.
