Desert Pines Golf Club
About
Desert Pines Golf Club is often referred to as "The Pinehurst" of Las Vegas. It offers a Carolina sandhills experience, yet is conveniently located just minutes from downtown or the Strip. This Dye design features thousands of mature pine trees lining the well-groomed fairways where white sand bunkers protect large, undulating, bent grass greens. Because of the large number of pine trees, often times this course is cooler than other courses in the heat of the summer. Although there are no forced carries, water comes into play on 9 of the 18 holes.

Great track
It’s like Las Vegas’s hidden gem. It’s a short course but there is plenty of hazards that really require you to play target golf. The whole Course was in great shape. This was my second time playing it first time was about five years ago.
Nicely conditioned tight short course!
Narrow fairways but greens excellent although lots of contours and fast! Fairway grass medium to good. S fun course in good condition.
Overall pretty good
In LV for a destination wedding. 6 of us from the wedding party playing. Plenty of tee times on this Wednesday to accommodate our 2 groups. We left for the course at 1105 and we’re back at our hotel on The Strip by 445 - decent pace of play.
Tees fairways and greens all lush. Liked the rye fairways. Off the fairways pretty rough though but you’re not supposed to be there anyway right?
Tees were waaaaay up so played short this day but in looking back on several tee boxes there was often another 30-50yds available for more challenge.
Layout fairly tight with tricky but not unfair pin placements. A few holes had greens sloping away from the fairways resulting in approaches past the hole. Enjoyed the course overall.
A negative however tho relating to tee pricing and checkin. Counter person wanted to charge $160/player (full fare) when we saw on their own website for $130. He indicated that he was unable to do adjustment and recommended we book the tee time online while we were standing in the pro shop. But of course had to set up a profile etc which takes some time. After fumbling with that for a bit he returned from “the back” and then said he could facilitate the lower price for us (hmmmmm a little shady to me). But once that was resolved all fine.
Season opener
From the Midwest so this was the first round of the year. Course was in great condition and staff was very friendly. We were a twosome and we were paired with a couple of locals that were a pleasure to play with.
Cabbie was right!!
I realize it was St. Patrick’s Day but having tee times every eight minutes is too much. We had to wait on every single hole except one. The sign in the cart says pace of play should be four hours. Took us four hours and 40 minutes. The Ranger came by three times but could not get the pace of play to where it should be. When you spend over $100 for a tee time your expectations go up. Range balls were extra. Half the bunkers were solid sand. Its not that hard to rake them. There is no GPS. On the ride over in the cab he told me it was a very tight course which is true. Breakfast in the restaurant was awesome , Debby was a wonderful server. They do give you 2 bottle of water on the cart I also found pre paying in full a bit weird. I will never play again. Beverage server was pleasant and over worked , my fellow golfers had to call in to shop to get one on the back nine .
Challenging and Unique
The winter grass they had was in great condition and the greens were great. This is a course that requires you to play strategically with a lot of irons off the tees and will penalize you for errant shots. Overall a really cool and fun course to play.
Desert Pine -Las Vegas
Course was in great shape for public in Vegas. Short course bit greens is where you will get punished . You have to be on low side of hole . Staff was super friendly. Bring a range finder because the carts have nothing. That’ is my only complaint. For a Saturday we played in 4 hours and would have been better if it weren’t for the 4 some in front of us who thought they were on PGA Tour. Had a beginner with me so it was perfect length for her. Going back again today. The value was great . 1//2 the price of all the other courses in the city. 15-20 minutes from strip.
We rented golf clubs because their website said all their clubs were up to date , but the clubs were old, beat up. Mix matched Calloway and tailer made mix. When we got there, it was 30min delay. And very slow play. Marshall was driving around, but did not have groups speed up play. We were literally 2 groups behind every hole. Very disappointed for the amount of money spent to play at this course. I will never go back.
Expensive for what you get
I played the course Friday and Saturday. Most of the pins were in the same location. The greens were slow, Lots of garbage blowing around the course and in the water. Layout was good and challenging but just not worth $150 which didn’t include range balls.
