Desert Pines Golf Club is often referred to as "The Pinehurst" of Las Vegas. It offers a Carolina sandhills experience, yet is conveniently located just minutes from downtown or the Strip. This Dye design features thousands of mature pine trees lining the well-groomed fairways where white sand bunkers protect large, undulating, bent grass greens. Because of the large number of pine trees, often times this course is cooler than other courses in the heat of the summer. Although there are no forced carries, water comes into play on 9 of the 18 holes.

A good time in the desert.

Great Pete Dye layout. Greens could have been a little faster. Overall positive experience here.

First timer.

Shorter course but somewhat challenging. It sits very close to downtown LV. The course was in fairly good condition for February. Staff was friendly and helpful. A bit pricey for a "Hot Deal" at $70.

Desert Pines is a special place with great people working there

I was tired of a cold/snowy streak in Denver so I grabbed a GolfNow Hot Deals tee time (with some leftover promo codes and credits I'd had built up) at Desert Pines, and I am so glad I did.

You won't feel as if you're coming up on a amazing golf course--just stuck in a rather busy, commerce-laden urban area of Las Vegas off the strip--but you will be doing just that. The first thing I want to mention is the people--this course is absolutely dedicated to having "more than enough" people to attend to your needs. Three (3) people at the check-in station, 3 people in the restaurant bar, 2 men in the pro shop, and perhaps most importantly you see the Beverage Cart possibly 6-to-9 times throughout the day!

I really enjoyed the course. I'm a 10.9 handicap and I played the 6,400-yard White Tees; while it was my first time even SWINGING a club in 2022, I think it would have been a challenge even if I was doing well. Green undulation was challenging but not off-putting, and course knowledge would have helped. Having said that, I thought there were plenty of Par 4 holes where you could take out the BIG STICK and really have some fun, attempting to get a short chip as your 2nd shot.

One more thing on the greens--the condition of these were just immaculate. I wish I knew the type of grass, but I don't.

Last thing--the driving range is a nice amenity to this place (check out the course's pictures). It is a 30-second walk to the driving range unlike so many other courses.

I'm contemplating a return to Desert Pines very soon, even though I live in Denver!

Pace Too Slow

I was visiting Las Vegas and I decided to play a round of golf here. The must had over booked because the pace was super slow! For $99.00 I only got through 9 holes in 3+ hours.

City golf

Pros

* Vegas customer service

* challenging layout

Cons

* no gps on carts

* Hard to find yardage markers

* Extremely tight fairways

* super overpriced

* located in a high crime area

-this course is not designed for beginners. New golfers will lose a box of golf balls here.

-i would consider this course a executive hybrid course. You really dnt need to use a driver here.

-i would not recommend this course to friends or family.

Enjoyed the couse/Staff accommodating

Very accommodating staff who seemed to enjoy being there and helping. I'm not used to desert golf so go into it knowing their are gonna be really dry areas throughout and fun to play. Ended up playing there 2 days in a row while in town and would recommend if ur looking to get out to play.

Surprisingly a great course

We were not expecting such a good course. The service was good especially in the restaurant/half way house. It’s a nice course with fairways separated by berms and trees. Several holes are a bit noisy due to proximity to freeway but not a big bother. It’s a nice challenging layout. We’d definitely play again which is what the guy we play with did again the next day. Great value on a hot deal.
