Desert Pines Golf Club is often referred to as "The Pinehurst" of Las Vegas. It offers a Carolina sandhills experience, yet is conveniently located just minutes from downtown or the Strip. This Dye design features thousands of mature pine trees lining the well-groomed fairways where white sand bunkers protect large, undulating, bent grass greens. Because of the large number of pine trees, often times this course is cooler than other courses in the heat of the summer. Although there are no forced carries, water comes into play on 9 of the 18 holes.

Favorite course in town now looks like a sheep pasture

If I didn't know any better I'd say they let an MLB team practice on the greens in metal spikes today. At 1222 they had still not caught up from a frost delay. Hoke 3 had 7 groups on it, 4 waiting to tee off one group near tee balls, second group waiting to hit approach shots and one on the green 11 folks on the tee watching.. No marshall on the course, played 9 holes in 3 hours as a 3some, Went straight to the car at the turn.

Desert Pines is one of the best layouts in town but it's been going down hill lately. Would not recommend winter golf here, wait until spring.

Great staff, painted course

Great staff all around, from the golf to the bar. Coming from Arizona, we run into painted courses every few years when a reseed dies. The course was obviously painted green over dead grass everywhere, would only recommend if you get a hot deal.

Golf at its best...

The only complaint I have it the greens were a bit slow.

Other than that, WOW, what a beautiful course.

The fairways were amazing, the rough looks dead but it played great. Narrow fairways with some water on the course but id play hear every week if I could! Great layout and conditions

Poor conditions

Winds 20 gusting to 30mph. Asked them to re schedule, they said no. Greens slower than any I have played ever. Won't be going back.

Desert Pines

Enjoyed the round. We (foursome) played in about 3 3/4 hours and only had to wait on the last 4 holes when we caught up with the threesome in front of us. Course was in good shape except for the multiple ball marks not repaired on the greens. Started 20 minutes before tee time so didn't even have a chance to look at scorecard.

Played White tees that measured 5500 yards (back tees play 6200 which is about the length I normally play. Will play here again when I come back to Las Vegas,

Confused

I’m a little confused with the prior reviews about this course the greens were in good condition they hold very well and are getting faster the overall course condition is good the fairways are good the tees are OK they need cut but overall great day good course nice layout. The major problem with this course is the bird crap all over it greens fairways everywhere when I took the cart to the return the tires were full of it not good!

Painful round of golf

I’m not one to write reviews very often, but I feel I have to in this case. Bottom line: one of the least enjoyable rounds of golf I’ve ever played.

The course is absolutely packed, and most of the play is by complete beginners who have no idea what they’re doing. That in itself would be acceptable if the staff did anything to monitor pace of play: that wasn’t the case, and it took us 2:40 to make it through the front nine. And to make matters worse, the staff asked us to suspend play ten minutes before sunset, saying the course gates would be locked in fifteen minutes (no mention of this before we started playing, of course).

The greens are completely pockmarked as it seems almost no one fixes pitch marks, and all water features are full of floating garbage and disgusting looking.

A complete waste of time and money in my opinion. You can get much better golf around Vegas for the same money Desert Pines is charging.

Overall poor

Read the reviews of this course didn’t seem that bad. I started driving there and had to drive through a not so great neighborhood which is no big deal. Grew up playing great courses in bad neighborhoods. Pulled in through a nice gate and saw a nice looking clubhouse and was pleased when I pulled in. The first Marshall was really nice and friendly as well as the front desk gentleman. After that it quickly started to going downhill. I wanted to grab a beer and a snack to start waited next to bar and nobody helped, I asked and they said they’d be right out, another 10 minutes or so and I just walked away to the driving range instead. The driving range area wasn’t bad actually. I went back and a really nice (Kimber) girl helped me out and got me a sandwich and a beer quick before I had to tee off which gave me a little satisfaction. I got to the putting green and was like shag carpet and all scuffed up. I was like well it’s a practice green no way it’s like this out there on the course. I was wrong it was putting on fairways out there. To no fault of the course whoever was in front of us was dragging feet and hitting the green with something and destroying the greens. Tee boxes we not the best either. The course layout was actually pretty fun so I should give them more credit but the price I paid for the quality I got was terrible. I would not come back. Next time I will pay more or play further away to have better quality. Overall if the greens were even somewhat nice I would maybe go back but paying over $100 greens should be way nicer. Also to finish off
