Desert Pines Golf Club
About
Desert Pines Golf Club is often referred to as "The Pinehurst" of Las Vegas. It offers a Carolina sandhills experience, yet is conveniently located just minutes from downtown or the Strip. This Dye design features thousands of mature pine trees lining the well-groomed fairways where white sand bunkers protect large, undulating, bent grass greens. Because of the large number of pine trees, often times this course is cooler than other courses in the heat of the summer. Although there are no forced carries, water comes into play on 9 of the 18 holes.

69 bucks after 12:00
While course met our needs it will be the staff ( especially the bar help waitresses ) that will bring us back.
The course has water holes abundant which make for some fun, however pace of play was slow - on a par 5 there was actually 4 groups on the hole , one on the green having a putting derby , another group 200 out waiting for derby to finish , tee box and then us in carts waiting as well.
The par 3 proposition Was unnecessary as weekenders are there to get round in and “ gamble “ at the casino not about switch and bait with pro shop credit. Golfers tend to be a bit smarter about these “ opportunities “
And finally 69 for non resident ... a bit out of line. 50 bucks and you would have people booked at every tee time.
Best bang for your buck
Just played Desert Pines with my buddy and we had an amazing experience. We were greeted by friendly staff as soon as we pulled up as they began to load our clubs on to the cart. Got a free warm up bucket (25-30 balls)... As we were practicing some putting before or round was about to start, the starter came up to us and asked if we wanted to tee off early, as there was a fivesome making the turn (they started on the back nine) and he didn't want to have us get stuck behind them. We obviously accepted and tee'd off right away. The course was in decent condition considering the time of year. Fairways and greens were great but the rough was pretty much dead/dormant. Greens were running quite quick and true (with the exception of several unrepaired ball marks on most of the greens) this is no fault of the course and is just bad etiquette of the players that played previously. I can't speak much about the bunkers as I didn't hit one all day but they looked pretty average ;) The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was, after reading many of the reviews on this course before booking a round here, everyone spoke about how they even provided you with a free lunch on the turn. FYI, if you book through the Golf Now app and book it at a "Hot Deal" price they do not provide the free lunch for you... I know this might not be a big deal for most but I just thought everyone should know. The good thing is that the food we purchased at the turn was quite reasonable, a hotdog, Turkey sandwich and a bag of chips was only $13 bucks. So no complaints. All n all, I would definitely recommend this course to my friends n family. I might even play it one more time before we leave.
The greens were very patchy and rough. The girl behind the bar was rude. Two of the wait staff were amazing.
Still one of the best...
Desert Pines is always a great choice when playing in the Las Vegas area. Great course, Great staff... Nuff said.
beware
Beware, this course is poorly managed and prone to changing the fee's without prior notice. My foursome booked a tee time at the website price then upon arrival told that the rate had arbitrarily gone up over 250 % due special weekend event. No compromise offered, we left not willing to pay the higher fee, then discovered DP had charged my credit card $500 without notice. Must avoid booking tee times here, DANGER!!!
Great value for the money
Played here for the first time and this course is the best value for the money. Got a hit Deal rate, and even at the full rate would play here again. Had a shotgun start because of a frost delay, but was able to replay the starting holes since the course was closing early. Recommend this course over some of the overpriced resorts.
Challenging course but worth the money
Greens are in good shape
Fairways were good
Sand bunkers actually had sand in them !( I know I was in them all day)
T boxes were good
Nice course- a tad narrow if you are a “ slicer”
Desert Pines
Well maintained. Great design features hole to hole. You’ll not lose interest here.
1st for 2020
Always looked at this course on GN and finally played it..beautiful layout and condition..greens could’ve used more care but all in all had a good round..NO CROWD..beautiful weather..I’ll be back many times this yr!
Relaxed fun
Was a fun round of golf, the fairways are tight but fair and you are rewarded if you hit a good shot. Reachable par 5’s but if you miss you could be wet. A couple short par 4’s make good risk/ reward scenerios, lots of water to consider when you go for it.
Great Value
Decent
Played on Saturday morning and was paired with 3 locals who were great guys. I paid $99 and they paid the resident rate of $39. Golf in Vegas can be pricey as a visitor so I thought this was a good value because lunch and a beverage was included. Course was in decent shape and the other reviews are true, for some reason people don’t repair pitch marks here. I don’t get it, I view a pitch mark as a badge of honor for hitting a green on a likely well struck shot. Regardless, this course was pretty tight, I’ve never seen so many groups from so many directions in other fairways. On the plus side since there isn’t much between the holes your stray shot will most likely have a decent lie in another fairway lol. Not too much elevation here or forced desert carries like some Vegas courses have but still not bad when you throw in lunch which was great.
Staff was friendly, showed up an hour before my tee time to hit some balls but range was closed, starter was nice enough to let me join that threesome otherwise would’ve been stuck behind 3 foursomes that we’re getting ready to go out and would’ve never met the Gus I played with. Overall 3.5 star rating from me.
Cold day of golf
The weather was the worst thing about today's round. It was a bit chilly. The course is in pretty good shape however some of the greens were in need of some attention. Tee boxes were cut nice and even. Bunkers were in good shape although I hit out of one. Pace was nice, the people behind us hit up on us a few times however were really apologetic for doing so. The staff was so nice.. Otherwise I shot a decent round for it being chilly 48.. Weather said it felt like 43..
Great Layout
My big hitter son and I picked this course from the Golf Now app and were pleased when we pulled up as the clubhouse and everything else we could see looked good. It was a little cold that day and was going to rain so they permitted us to go early which was appreciated as we stayed dry. The course was interesting and in great shape, with some killer bunkers and some nice water holes. We didn't find the houses came in to play and the greens were true. Overall, we really liked it and had an enjoyable round. The clubhouse had friendly staff and good food. As it is a short drive from the strip, we'll be back, even though we like to try different courses wherever we go.
Desert Pine
Staff was very friendly, are at restaurant after round great service, the greens were very slow needed cut/rolled
