About
One of the pioneers in Las Vegas golf, Painted Desert Golf Course is a 1987 Jay Morrish design has golfers shooting at targets in the desert.
Painted Desert has maintained its place in the Sin City golf community through all its changes by putting on an emphasis on course conditioning. Just because your greens are almost two decades old does not mean they cannot be in better shape than many of the new kids on the block.
The desert is the focus here, but Morrish also works in a few lakes as obstacles.
"This golf course is a very friendly layout and you can score here without having a feeling of imminent doom on every hole," John Scappatura said. "We are a bit off of the beaten path, which means that we almost always have availability for tee times. Everyone who does make the trip out here though appreciates our conditioning, the price, and the friendly atmosphere."

Nice course
Bring range finder . They have no yardage markers any where in the fairways. Fair ways are tight and lined with bunkers.

Overall a nice place to play
Played here yesterday for the second time in 2 years. The staff are VERY FRIENDLY and helpful. The course could definitely use some sort of yardage markers to assist in playing the proper distance. For off season the course was in decent shape. Lots of rock and sand if you just miss the ruff. Playing from the fairway is at a premium to save your golf clubs. Enjoyed our time on the course and the friendly bar staff made getting drinks between nines enjoyable as well. Great people and a decent course!

Hole # 18 was dangerous people that didn’t know how to play on the practice range were hitting balls over on the fairway. there had to have been at least 50 yellow walls down the middle of the fairway . Golf balls were being hit over there continually . The course starter was amazing!

I got a hot deal on Golf now. Nit sure I would pay more than I did but I would play it again . Greens were good and fairways decent

Course was in great ahape and the staff is fantastic!!
Nice course
Overall a nice golf course and in pretty good shape for the winter. Pace of play was a touch on the slow side, but that's kind of the norm at many Vegas courses.
Great rate for great course
I played as a single behind a threesome and played 18 in 3 hours - I loved the layout and the pace of play - Staff was extremely friendly and I thought the course was well maintained and played difficult. I would play it again in a heartbeat.
Potential Great Course but a few minor issues
I started out loving this course. Great layout and challenging holes. However a few minor issues that made it not as good. First no GPS in carts. Very frustrating this day and age. With hazards and other areas that you would want to avoid, I need to know how far it is to landing zone.
Secondly, there were no yardage markers on course. Most of cart paths did have a yardage painted but it was flat and if you were on fairways you could not see it. Multiple times I hit with a club that was 1too long or 1 too short.
Finally there were no yardage plaques on tee boxes. Yes there were signs but (especially on par 3's) you need to know where the yardage is calculated from.
Those issues ruined what was otherwise a great course.

LOL very frustrating in this day and age that someone cannot figure out how to download one of the 101+ free apps that will tell you exactly the distance to front, middle, back and for $20 a year you can even get green slopes and more, who the heck knew :) Actually, your GolfPass app does this

Better condition than before
Greens are fast and rolling through, course is in better shape since the last time I played almost a year ago.

How to hit off straw and gravel?
This course has great greens. Fast and true.
The rest of the playing experience stinks. The fairways with grass are narrow on every hole. If you miss you’re either hitting off soft straw or gravel. There is no rough. It’s stupid. Boring layout and again if you miss the fairway you’re hitting off a surface ive never seen before at a golf course. And they charge insane prices for this. What a joke.
