Painted Desert Golf Club
About
One of the pioneers in Las Vegas golf, Painted Desert Golf Course is a 1987 Jay Morrish design has golfers shooting at targets in the desert.
Painted Desert has maintained its place in the Sin City golf community through all its changes by putting on an emphasis on course conditioning. Just because your greens are almost two decades old does not mean they cannot be in better shape than many of the new kids on the block.
The desert is the focus here, but Morrish also works in a few lakes as obstacles.
"This golf course is a very friendly layout and you can score here without having a feeling of imminent doom on every hole," John Scappatura said. "We are a bit off of the beaten path, which means that we almost always have availability for tee times. Everyone who does make the trip out here though appreciates our conditioning, the price, and the friendly atmosphere."

Windy Day
Played here before and really enjoyed it as I did today. Course can be narrow which made it tough with the wind. Very enjoyable dispite the weather conditions.
Challenging course but not worth the money.
Played the back nine first, which is not as nice or challenging as the front. Tees are decent, fairways are good, and greens are good, but on the slow side. Restaurant was good. Compared to other courses at the same price, this one is not as nice. Sorry!
Bad players
Like the course like the staff hate the players especially the Las Vegas tourist golfers paired up with some high skilled players from out of town I never play well these people got very impatient and irritated with me that they threw me away like trash after nine holes and I’m a local I should not be treated like that from anyone people get me thinking I should just quit the game
A sunny day on the course in Las Vegas
Course was in beautiful shape. Fairways and roughs mown appropriately. Greens were in good shape, but could have been cut a little shorter. Teed off a little before noon and if it wasn't such a beautiful Sunday afternoon would have been concerned that it took 5 hours to play. It didn't appear that there was any course marshalling being done at this course in the afternoon.
Greta Hot Deal.. Fairway and greens in good shape given winter. Gusty winds 25-30mph with brisk 47degree. Always enjoy playing this course when in Vegas (usually late summer HOT!!)
Everyone is very accommodating here, page of play is excellent, greens we're my only issue alittle bumpy. Other than that excellent layout and very nice staff. Would play here again.
Golf cart path
Beautiful golf course with an eye opening golf cart path
Thank you very much for playing Painted Desert and the positive review, we are glad you had a good time and enjoyed the course. General Manager, Painted Desert Golf Club.
A Must Play
Scenic, well maintained golf course. Somewhat narrow fairways require accuracy. Off the fairway? Use your rock club (inc!uded with M2 rental set). Very nice. Balls ran on fairways often rolling off back of green. Greens lightning fast. Putt well or run well past hole. Staff excellent! Overall great golf in a great setting. Go play.
Hello Michael...we are glad you enjoyed the course and look forward to you returning in the future. Thank you for the 5 star review! General, Painted Desert Golf Club.
This was a narrow course
Not good for the slicer....
All holes were LONG!
Had a fun day and we moved along real well.
Bad greens, worse fairways. Way overbooked w horrible players
Greens were super shaggy and bumpy. Fairways were terrible. And pace of play was the worst I’ve ever played in a golf course. I wouldn’t pay $20 to play again. Go elsewhere. Also it was cart path only which WASNT advertised on this site.
Super steps
Kind working people here.
Some greens rough but it's OK for the value of money .
Convenient location and actually fine course.
course is worth the money
I haven't played Painted Desert in a while, so I didn't know what to expect. It was in pretty reasonable shape, especially considering how many other courses here in Las Vegas are in poor shape from the recent weather. Yes, the green are a bit shaggy, but they still roll true and at a decent speed.
I highly recommend Painted Desert.
Showing its age, but still a very nice layout
I played it after a long absence. Some of the course infrastructure suffers from non-maintenance (sand trap rakes, cart paths, tee boxes, etc.), but the grass on the fairways and greens are as good as I remember them being back when it was fairly new 25 years ago. The layout is very good, and it is a good test of your golfing ability. (And mine came up lacking on most holes.) Take advantage of low rates during the hot summer, and you may be able to get a quick round in because the course won't be crowded. There are a lot of golf course options out there, and I mostly play elsewhere. But, I may make a return trip to PD this summer, because it was fun to be there again.
Avid golfer
Although it has been pretty hot in Las Vegas the course is in good shape . With the greens being a little fuzzy.
For what it's worth ....I don't know of many golfers, local or from out of town, that have a problem with any fellow golfer, regardless of how bad they are, if they 1) play reasonably fast, 2) are not totally obnoxious and 3) do not cheat ... So .... hope this helps
