About
The Barony Course at Port Royal Golf Club constitutes 18 of this well-known island facility's 54 holes.
Playing to just 6,543 yards from the gold tees, Barony is a very enjoyable course for all skill levels. The back nine in particular is a fine mix of long and short holes. Like its sister courses at Port Royal, Barony begins and ends at the club's beautiful Antebellum-style clubhouse.
From the tee, many of the holes on Barony appear to be relatively open. But as you approach the green the real challenge of the course becomes clear. The greens are small and protected by deep bunkers and Bermuda rough, demanding an excellent touch with the medium and short irons. This is a course where accuracy, not length is the key factor.

Thanksgiving Disappointment
We were told when we checked in about an hour ahead of tee time 11:48, that the course would be closing at 3pm and carts would have to be back in at that time. We were only able to finish 13 holes. I paid for 18 and expected to get to play 18 holes weather permitting and weather was great. I understand that it was a holiday but if you are going to book tee times then they should be allowed to play. If you want to be finished earlier then don’t book tee times. I was not offered any compensation for the inconvenience. Was looking forward to playing golf and spending the holiday with my dad and my sons and it was cut short. Wouldn’t have been a problem if we had known ahead of time. We would have planned on playing a different day. Very disappointed!

Great experience
Course conditions and pace of play was great. Played in a foursome and took only 3 hours and 30 minutes. Greens were decent, course was in good shape.

Enjoyed the gentlemen that I played with but what kind of killed the afternoon was a couple of groups ahead of us were playing extremely slow.
Staff could be friendlier.
The course is to my liking. The pace was great. Conditions are good. The range was not open so I had 25 minutes to kill. Some staff are better suited to not dealing with customers.
Barony
Overall very positive feedback only concern is that first 4 holes had not been cut. cutting number 4 as we got there at 1 pm.
Club needs a lot of attention
Have played this course in prior years. Currently I think that the emphasis is on getting as many rounds in without spending any money on the course period. The course including the greens shows that the owners are milking the place for what ever it is worth. Poor playing conditions and a high price point. Played two other courses on the Island which were in great condition. Sad

Hosting a car show
They were setting up for a car show. We were not warned when booking. Parking was a mess. Driving range and practice green were closed. Cart person said she didn’t have sandwiches today, started with some hotdogs, but ran out. The group in front of us was very slow. A person in a cart who appeared to be a marshal drove by us twice and waved. Could be just a bad day. Liked the layout and will try again.
