About
The Barony Course at Port Royal Golf Club constitutes 18 of this well-known island facility's 54 holes.
Playing to just 6,543 yards from the gold tees, Barony is a very enjoyable course for all skill levels. The back nine in particular is a fine mix of long and short holes. Like its sister courses at Port Royal, Barony begins and ends at the club's beautiful Antebellum-style clubhouse.
From the tee, many of the holes on Barony appear to be relatively open. But as you approach the green the real challenge of the course becomes clear. The greens are small and protected by deep bunkers and Bermuda rough, demanding an excellent touch with the medium and short irons. This is a course where accuracy, not length is the key factor.

Nice coastal course
Nice layout. Friendly staff. Greens were very slow. Needed mowing.
Good layout, slow play today
Course was in decent shape; very slow green speed compared to what we are used to. Very slow pace of play, only saw a course marshall on the 2nd hole.
Florida Hacker
Course layout was varied and there were some challenging holes. Typical Hilton Head course. Greens were slow and inconsistent.

Great Golf at Barony at Port Royal
Barony is a very nice course with many challenging holes. It was easy to find your way around the course and the signage was good. The greens were in nice condition and the. traps were well maintained. A good course to play when you are in Hilton Head.
Good Day!
We had to wait for a cart to start the round and pace seemed slow,, but we were done in 4:30 hours. Overall, the course was in great shape, greens were very good and the course was fair. I would definitely play again.

Awesome golf, I believe the course is one of the best (if not the best) on HHI.
Enjoyable Round at Barony
Barony will keep you on your toes with some interesting holes. A GPS app with course layout on your phone is a must if playing for the first time- they have a free download. There are a few sharp doglegs to watch out for. Not sure why, but carts were not equipped with sand bottles, and the fairways showed it. Staff was really great so thanks to you all. Greens were moderate speed but in great shape. Bunkers were well maintained but no rakes (no surprise.) We had a fun round and would recommend to all for play. Pick your tee box carefully according to your skill!

The course was in excellent condition!!! The staff was very accommodating and very service minded. Today was my first time playing the course would highly recommend.

Good value. Played on a tee off hot deal. Well worth the money for a course on the island.
Nice course
As a beginner I thought the greens were challenging as they all seemed to be surrounded by sand traps!! It was very fun to play.....a lovely layout! The condition of the course? Do golfers read the signs that asks you to replace divots? Not here! The golfers are all tourists so they don’t take pride in keeping the course nice I guess. The staff were very very friendly and helpful. A+

Don’t miss this gem
Arrived at the course and was greeted by friendly staff. This was the first time playing this course. Checked in at the Pro shop and Ben was great.
The course was in great condition, tee boxes were in good shape. Fairways were great as well. The greens were in good shape and rolled true.
One word of advice, keep an eye out, plenty of gators and wildlife on the course.
When I come back to HHI, I will play this course again.

I am sick and tired of COVID being an excuse for BAD service !!
"The snack bar was closed because of COVID" ! The restaurants on the island are open, so it makes no since the snack bar is closed !!
We played 18 holes with absolutely no drinks ! There was a Pepsi vendor at bathrooms that is out of order! When you make the turn it is not convenient to drive all the way to the clubhouse and we were told there would be a cart girl coming by when we started ... we NEVER saw anyone and it was extremely hot!!
We won't be playing this course again!!
