Brigantine/Clipper at Shipyard Golf Club

have been to HHI many times, including 3 3 month stays

shipyard was NOT on the courses selected because of poor maintenance/traps/tee blocks.

Between missing covid years(2021-2) until now and new course management

really impressed with course conditions, staff was wonderful (starter Ed)

Course staff were friendly and the course was in great shape for the off-season. If pace of play is this poor during slow season I can’t imagine spring, summer, & fall. There wasn’t anyone monitoring or enforcing speed of play. We had 3 players on 3 different tee boxes and we were still waiting every hole. We only managed to play 12 or 13 holes in almost 4 hours!

Very different layouts between the various nines make the course dysfunctional to play.

Played in January so fairways were dormant as expected. Nice layout. Staff was excellent. Pace of play was fine.

The conditions are much improved. If you have not played this year you might be surprised by the speed of the greens.

The course was in great shape. The greens were particularly good. I liked the layout very much. You must select the correct tees for your ability to get a good blend of enjoyment and challenge. I will certainly play this course again.

This is the off season. We played at a “Value time” after 2:00 pm. The census was light and the experience exceptional. We played 12 of 18 holes and loved all of them.

This is my first time playing winter golf in Hilton Head and wasn't sure what to expect in terms of course conditions.

In addition to the pleasure of of never feeling rushed due to the crowded course conditions I'm used to I was extremely impressed by the outstanding course conditions.

Fairways were in excellent shape and I found the greens to be exceptionally well maintained.

My only complaint is due to my less than stellar quality of play which led to losing more balls than I would like in the heavy accumulation pine needles and leaves in the rough lining many of the fairways.

Overall though an excellent round on a course I plan on playing again.

I have played most of the courses on Hilton Head and think that Shipyard is the best value. It is well maintained, the staff are helpful, it's challenging, but not exhausting. I love the staff in the clubhouse. They are always super friendly and helpful.. The cart staff are also very nice. I will be back many times.

Always enjoyable playing Shipyard. One of my favorites in Hilton Head.

Fairways were in poor condition making iron play difficulties. Map of the wholes would have helped but nothing was provided that showed any details.Greens were very fast and impossible.
