Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run

Course conditions are average. Tee boxes are mostly soil and very little grass. Some fairways have some sort of damage caused by digging animals? Rangers were too aggressive trying to speed up play. We finished the front nine in just under 2 hours and 25 minutes and they wouldn’t let us stop in the clubhouse to get a Gatorade! Finished 18 in 4 1/2 hours. Probably won’t golf here again.

This great course is not the same. Greens were slow and bumpy three weeks after aeration. Fairways had little to no grass! I have played the Bear many times and always loves it. VERY disappointed

Nice layout , nice amenities, fairways didn’t have much grass for midsummer , greens were so thick and high that difficult to put . But I guess you get what you pay for

I’m a local and really like the layout of this course. I knew the greens were recently aerated but the speed was also very inconsistent. Fairways very poor as in I was in the middle of the fairway and often hitting off hard pack. Tee boxes torn up a bit, too. Worst part was speed of play. Very slow. I get it if it’s the middle of the afternoon but with a 9:20 tee time I didn’t expect the first 3 holes to take an hour. Our round took 5:20. we waited on almost every tee. Shouldn’t be this way.

Was excited to play this course but unfortunately the course imo rough shape. The tee box set the tone as it should. I can understand if it was just aeration maintenance or healing but the tee box conditions were poor and the fairways were very hard (physically) hard to hit off of.with conditions to be desired. The greens were very very slow and bumpy. The pace itself was worse as we had to wait awhile after each hole.

Staff were friendly but unless they revive that course probably will not repeat

Little over 5 hour round. This is the place to play if you have lots of time, are a terrible golfer, and don’t care about having grass to hit off of.

Greens are still recovering from aeration which was a few weeks back and were extremely sandy. Fairways were inconsistent with many fairways consistently burned out and hitting off more dirt than grass.

I would not recommend at this time.

The greens left much to be desired...given that they have been punched 5 days prior ( we had no way of knowing) and they were far from healed,

The rest of the course was in quite good shape.

Staff was friendly and helpful as always.

Played here many times and a very enjoyable layout.

The food was superb and the special was a true bargain!

Jack Nicklaus’ name is attached to this course. Don’t know if it’s a design by Mr Nicklaus or a “signature” course, but I expect more from a course with Mr Nicklaus’ name on it. There were burnt out parts in fairways. Greens has recently aerated/over seeded. On the upside the layout is good. There is an enough challenge without being overwhelming. Staff was pleasant.

Would return in absence of other decent courses.

Been to HH twice before and played strictly the Palmetto Dunes courses. This year we decided to try other course on the island and just off the island. The Golden Bear course was by far in the best condition. The fairways were like carpet and the tees and greens were in great shape. Looking forward to coming back next year and the Golden Bear course will be one of the courses we play.

It’s a good course. I’d definitely recommend it. The course had recently been aerated so it was a little rough. We kne we knew that when we made, so that’s on us, big the course.

The pairing in front of us on the front nine was slow. Back nine was much faster.

Golden Bear has always been a great course. Even though the course has gone through aeration in the last week it is still a wonderful place to play. Greens are in very good condition. Staff is great and I think it is a good value. Highly recommend this course.

I like the layout, staff was nice,but pace of play was the worst I have ever seen. Foursome ahead of us should have been run off course. I won’t go into details, but we left after 13. We were on course to have a 6+ hour round. I’m glad I got reduced rate otherwise I would’ve been even more irate.
