Amazing condition
I have played this course countless times over the last 30 or so years and have found it a fun challenging course. However, conditions were not the best. My last round was a pleasant surprise! The course is in premium condition. The fairways have grown in and not the least bit patchy. The greens were pristine!
The tee boxes and sand bunkers still need some work but with what has been done already, I feel it is just a matter of a short time before they too are in tournament condition.
My inaugural Round
Book 18 holes for 2 players early in the week for $46.99 per. Come Saturday 2 additional players were interested. Call the clubhouse and spoke a gentleman whose name I believe is Kai. Explained the reason for my called. NO PROBLEM.
LOVED the course. It requires the players full attention and must be well managed to shoot decent score. At the end of the day, the scorecard won!!!
First Time - Since Going Public
The course conditions were a little rough. The tee boxes need work and a little surprised on the overall condition since the course recently moved from private to public.
Hopefully under new management (if that is the case) should be able to turn around the conditions and we'll be back to play in the future.
Meh
It was meh. Can’t complain for 18 holes with a cart for $30
Good Course
The course was in very good shape except for the tees. Almost all of the tees were burnt out from underwatering and/or too much fertilizer. The fairways and greens were better than most course and the grass was well maintained.
Montclair maybe country club¿
Course layout is nice could be a great course but the conditions were down right atrocious. Weeds on greens, fairways, and tee boxes, rocks in all the bunkers, and range is irons only but only upto a 6 iron as you will hit into the net quite easily.
Disappointing
I always wanted to play there, nice community but poor track in poor shape. It needs some love. They should consider making it more of an executive course. Too many funky unfair holes.
Not a country club
Need to manage the course. It’ called country club? But there’s nothing like it!
This course has gone downhill... Fast...
I used to play here every day during high school - we would have practices and tournaments here throughout the summer and fall, and at the time, it was great (mostly because it was free for us). Now, the course has quickly dropped off and needs some sort of renovation if it wants to regain its spot on my list of frequented courses. The tee boxes are littered with weeds and dead/sandy spots. The fairways are okay, but considering that they just had them redone just a few years ago, they are in terrible shape. The greens are acceptable, but any bunkers should be avoided since most of them are small ponds most of the time that I have played here, or at least swampy from rain several days before. Overall, I only played at Montclair this week since I wanted to give it one more chance to redeem itself, but it certainly missed that opportunity. Until I see some major improvements in this course, I will not be returning.
Garbage!
Okay this is the worst course I’ve played EVER! I play 3-4x a week and I can 100% tell you to stay away. No care is given to maintaining the course or even making any improvements. Sandy tee boxes, bumpy greens, destroyed bunkers, grass less fairways. SAVE YOUR MONEY. To think, they call this a “country club.”
