Nice Course Reopened
Thus is a very good layout consisting of the former Valley and Mountain nines. The only change is the 18th on the mountain is now a medium length par 3 instead of a par 4. The greens were true and fast and the rest of the course hard and dry but playable from the fairways. There is a practice putting green but no driving range or chipping area and a small pro shop and restaurant.
Good challenging course
Club was fun, yet challenging. Still under repair, but nice greens and decent fairways
Sunday in Mo Val
Course is in good shape, greens are good & fairways are mostly nice some dry spots in certain areas but it’s winter in Southern California so it’s expected. Course staff is super friendly from Pro Shop, Snack Shop, Starter & Cart Girl all have great attitudes & were very friendly, they have been taught by Management how to treat the guests.
Played today with 3 guys who were slightly on the beginner side of golf & the flags were in some tough spots. But overall a very enjoyable day.
Sunday in Mo Val
Nice course, will be even better when they finish the renovations, fairways a little bare but it’s winter time in So Cal so that’s expected in some places. Played with 3 great guys who were on the beginner side & the flags were in tough spots for them. Bunkers have “plenty” of sand almost too much. I like the two different sides to the course. What I paid today should be the normal weekend rate but I understand Covid is making every course try & recoup money wherever they can. Staff is super friendly from the starter, cart girl & staff in the Pro Shop & Snack shop, they have done a great job getting the point across with customer service.
Course is on a come back!
The greens and fairways are getting better every month. The greens were in great condition and the pace of play was good. We will definitely be coming back again. Thank you.
the new, old Moreno Valley
Had not played this track since it had three 9's and was shut down years ago.
Front nine was in a little rough shape but not bad; same with the greens. Back nine greens were MUCH better and I always like those 9 holes better than the other 18 at the time. Always loved the downhill par-3 16th! (need to get the upper tee back in shape however)
Overall, enjoyed the course and good to see it back.
Would play here again!
The course has reopened from my understanding. So no real clubhouse (still developing), no range, small food mobile unit and bathroom. Not much to look at from the outside but when you get on the course, different story. Golf carts good, auto parking brake, no gps (bring Grint or similar on your phone), no yardage book. The course is nice! No real rough so easy to play, but the greens are like PGA speed. Very pure and undulations...as you would see on a Pete Dye course (this course was designed from) Water in play front nine, back nine near mountain so great Vista and lots of up and downhill holes, also windy near mountain. Tee time was 12:30 pm and just finished in 4 1/2 hours. It was getting dark quick and getting cold.... bring a jacket! I'm a 11.5 handi and played from the White yardage since it was my first time.... the holes were challenging...but not difficult if in the fairway. (Shot +9) The last hole was a par 4 converted to a par 3, that's why par 71. Some may not like it like that, but I thought it was different finishing last hole with a par 3. Fun course, will play again!
This course will be great, give it time!
I was told that this course is relatively new, with the old municipal course serving as the bones for it. With some time and TLC, I can see this being a great course! As this was my first time playing this, here’s a few observations:
1. No driving range or warmup area - only a putting green.
2. Pro Shop is in a trailer and does not have much to offer; make sure you come equipped to avoid any issues.
3. The fairways were extremely hard, but were in decent condition for the most part. Be sure to keep an eye on your ball because it will likely roll for days! haha
4. The greens were very hard to read and super fast... all the more challenging!
5. The views from several of the elevated holes are absolutely breathtaking.
OVERALL: I would recommend you give this course a try and enjoy the challenge! I was told that it does get packed often, so plan accordingly!
Tough but Fair
The Course is gorgeous but with beauty comes some intimidation. Don't bring your ego cause right off the bat you have water and small relief on the edges. If you're a novice or a high handicapper I recommend you use your irons more often than your driver and woods off the tees. Once you hit those fairways it opens up but there is no give on the cuts, they're quite dry. The Greens are perfect, they're PGA Tour Supreme so they read well and 10 to 11, fast!
Course condition as of November 2020
Fairways are getting brown, hoping after winter they turn green. Greens are in excellent condition. Greens are tough to read, maybe due to first time play. Waiting for the fairways to turn green.
Love the lay out. The greens are fast and in great shape. The fairway grass is too thin and the rough just off the fairway is in terrible shape. Don't like the finishing hole. Just glad to see the course reopen.
Great Great Course!
Very cool course! Challenging but forgiving! It’s is great shape!
resurrection of an old star
I played here yesterday for the first time in 25+ years. The course was closed for 5 years and has been brought back as a 18 hole facility, rather than it's original 27 hole version. The pro shop is SPARCE, the pros were very informative. The starter was awesome, explaining what conditions we were going to see. This is a very good layout (I play A LOT of golf), there are some very challenging holes if you play from tees beyond your capabilities.
The good - phenomenal greens! Excellent, bent grass greens. The tee boxes were good, several different options, all well "grassed" mowed. Pace of play was 4 hours. Price was $45, i thought it was fairly priced Senior rate.
Acceptable - the fairways. They are hard/fast, candidly thin in spots, but very playable. There is a "cart girl", a bit pricey, but need to see her more frequently.
The bad - the bunkers are bad, they were on site working on them, but they've got a long way to go.
BOTTOM LINE - if you need a place to play, give the new course a chance. But realize that there are going to be some "coming back from the dead" pains.
Great Course
Booked this course from the reviews on it. The course did not disappoint. Since re-opening, the course layout is much better. The Greens are immaculate. Hole 16 hitting from the top of the hill provides amazing views!! Love this course, and will surely be back. The drink cart hit us up at least 3 times in our round. That was great.
The only negative thing that I could say, is that the 18th hole is anti-climactic. I love finishing a round on a long par 4 or a par 5. The drive back to the clubhouse was fun; however, and the beers were ice cold back at the clubhouse. I also recommend a drink called the Plantation Vacation.
