Santa Rosa
Rode the Blacks (6720/72.1/127) with Susan and Ann in 3H, 45M using Underpar. The weather was in the mid 80's, sunny with a little breeze early morning.
Designed by Billy Casper, four par 5, four par 3 layout, 36-36=72. The front is almost 300 yards shorter with a couple of risk/reward par 4's. The back definitely plays longer with a couple of long par 4's.
The tees were lush and very well maintained.
The fairways were lush and excellent to play from.
All the rough is over seeded and lush/thick. Tough to play longer clubs from. Good length, high enough to be penal, not so high as to slow POP with lost ball challenges every time you enter it.
The sand traps were excellent. Fine quality sand and very nicely maintained.
The Bermuda greens are firm but still putted nice, medium speed. No tiers or huge mounds to navigate, but we rarely had a straight putt.
Enjoyed this course. Mostly generous landing areas, not overtly tight. I thought the difficulty factor was slightly higher than it's sister San Gorgonio course but it would still be a good choice for players of all skill levels. Customer Service excellent, guy beside 18 green cleaning your clubs before you even putt out. Definitely not a course to walk, many holes are a long ways from the last tee. Recommended.
Awesome
Course was in great shape, no one in front or back of us and the price was too good to tell.
Busy Monday
Teed off as a two one about 1015 and had a 4 hour round. Stacked up on a couple par threes but too be expected being the course on a huge retirement community. I played the tips and my wife played the forward tees and we both loved it. Not extremely difficult and the greens are reasonable. I would play again.
Santa Rosa
Played the Blacks (6720/72.1/127) with GDR23 mid day using Underpar. The weather was in the mid 90's, sunny with a little breeze.
Conventional Par 36-36, four par 5 and four par 3 par 72 layout. The front is almost 300 yards shorter with a couple of risk/reward par 4's. The back seemed longer than the scorecard indicated.
From tee to green, the Santa Rosa layout was maintained a notch above the San Gorgonio course we played in the morning. However, because of a slight vericutt, the San Gorgonio greens were better.
The tees were near immaculate and very well maintained.
The fairways were lush, beautifully striped and were excellent to play from.

The sand traps were excellent. Great fine sand quality and very nicely maintained.
The greens had a small vericutt, but still putted nice, medium speed and firm. Seemed like the greens varied in size more on this course. No tiers or huge mounds to navigate, but we rarely had a straight putt.

Pristine Course
Outstanding golf course in an area of so much competition. Great to see such high standards maintained when others appear to be offering less and less service. Rate of play was good on a very busy day. Well done to owners and staff.
Santa Rosa Gem
Very well maintained course within the Sun City Palm Desert Community, too bad the second course couldn't match it! Enjoyed the day and the golf until the winds came up but with the course layout the winds were not so bad ...Jury's still out on the restaurant of Papa Dan's... Had a great lunch a week ago but the dinner we had after the round was not that good! Plenty of staff wandering around the empty restaurant seemed to forget we were there at times!
At least go for the golf!
desert jewel
The course is in the Sun City complex. The course is in great shape greens a bit slow, course is great fo women and men
very beautiful golf course
we had playing this golf course two years ago and yhe golf course is is always beautiful
but a little problem there are no plan or map on the car or on the tee!
very nice golf course
green and fairways very perfect
very easy for men because short
palmer trees very present
peace of play excellent we had playing in 3h and 10minutes
A beautiful Golf at a great price
Don’t miss getting a round or two in at this course. Not one negative thing to say. Course is very forgiving on poor shots.
Very Nice Course
The course is well maintained. Sand was nice and fluffy. Easy to hit explosion shots. Typical Del Webb community. Groups that only know close friends and neighbors. Was placed in a shot gun start.. All the privately owned carts made the club house area like a beehive Good thing about that was there was plenty of parking spaces, but they still ran out. Large landing areas and the fairways were in great shape. Greens were true and quick.
Great Course but the Amenities suck
I’ve played many courses in the Desert and this course is very beautiful well maintained challenging and very very worth while playing. The big problem is the amenities there are no GPS’s on the carts there no water on the course and if your hungry there’s no food except a Pizza place at the club where it will take a half an hour to get a sandwich. There are no marshals and no food or drink carts a little uncivilized for my experience
Fun afternoon
Made late morning tee time for 1:18pm. Played front nine in under two hours then waiting on every hole. For two groups on par threes. We only finished 16 before dark. That’s was aided by everyone heading to the barn and it was a par 3. Surprised no Marshall on the course in the afternoon. The course was a fun layout with a friendly staff.
