This is the kind of place the locals actually play. The kind of place that offers regular Sunday champagne brunches and New Year's Eve parties in the clubhouse. Mesquite's low green fees bring them in (under $100 even in Palm Springs' ultra expensive peak season). Its mountain backgrounds and golf along the bottom of a streambed are what bring them back.
Mesquite Golf and Country Club in Palm Springs isn't a long course by any stretch of today's standards. It comes in at 6,312 yards from the back tees. Locals find that fits just right. Again, it's Palm Springs. Many of the locals are cashing retirement checks between drives. A little shorter does not necessarily mean uninteresting though.
There are eight small lakes out on Mesquite and when the water's running in the stream it plays with some kick. At the same time, it's very friendly to women, seniors, anyone who finds distance to be a challenge. The 366-yard par-4 ninth is illustrative of a course that regularly lets average hackers go for the green.

Beautiful piece of real estate
Have played this beautiful course for many years, and still is magical. Great layout and fun to play. Still is challenging each time played. The last year has been very challenging for all businesses and this course has showed professionalism throughout the Pandemic. We look forward to playing this course for many future years.
Greens are deceiving
Awesome course for intermediate. Greens are very deceiving. Only complaint is course conditions.

Great early morning with no pressure allowed us to play/practice with a couple balls. Nice option for a stress free tune-up round on an old school course.
Below average
The tee boxes were bad. Carts in fair shape. Back nine needs to be marked better
16th and 18th hole are confusing.
Nice place for intermediate golf
My wife and I played and it was great for us. The backnine needs some work looks like it got flooded and a bridge is out. . very little trouble, flat fairways and the sand traps have grass growing in them. Overall it was perfect for a beginner couple..a no pressure course
One of the best rounds I’ve played
Great fairways and greens course was awesome. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Have to come back as I broke a 100 for the first time ever on this course.
Had a great day on the course. Great pace of play. True value for price. The reconfigured holes are quite the challenge. Always enjoy playing it
Getting better
This course was wiped out two years ago when the Coachella Valley received 4” of rain in one day. The Valentine Disaster. It’s a Palm Springs public course that is trying to come back. The back nine holes are in better shape than the front nine. There is one bridge still down. Which causes confusion. But with Palm Springs City being $75 million in debt do to Covid pandemic. It’s a miracle this course is open. The cost to play is the value here. I played this course when it was in great shape. I hope it does come back and it will if people just play it!!
