This is the kind of place the locals actually play. The kind of place that offers regular Sunday champagne brunches and New Year's Eve parties in the clubhouse. Mesquite's low green fees bring them in (under $100 even in Palm Springs' ultra expensive peak season). Its mountain backgrounds and golf along the bottom of a streambed are what bring them back.
Mesquite Golf and Country Club in Palm Springs isn't a long course by any stretch of today's standards. It comes in at 6,312 yards from the back tees. Locals find that fits just right. Again, it's Palm Springs. Many of the locals are cashing retirement checks between drives. A little shorter does not necessarily mean uninteresting though.
There are eight small lakes out on Mesquite and when the water's running in the stream it plays with some kick. At the same time, it's very friendly to women, seniors, anyone who finds distance to be a challenge. The 366-yard par-4 ninth is illustrative of a course that regularly lets average hackers go for the green.

Please bring this course back to its former glory
This poor course needs tender loving care of a competent greens keeper. Actually the greens were in decent shape but the fairways and 2nd cut as well as the tee boxes need to be mowed shorter.
Palm Springs - nice views but....
Pity the course needs such a lot of attention, and there is no snack bar but starter staff were friendly before and after our round. We were told that the club is going to be imrpoved by the new owners who will also reinstate the facilities as well as maintaining the course better. We got a really cheap deal and it was great to see Palm Springs centre again - great meal at Rick's afterwards!

The golf course is in pretty good shape for a track that’s well past it’s prine.

Course is a bit rustic, fairways mostly wide and open. Greens are good, pace of play excellent. We love playing here.
Problem with pace of play
While the course layout and difficulty was quite reasonable, there was a complete lack of course management or supervision to address the extremely poor pace of play. A Marshall is a MUST to move golfers along in their play. While we were held up by a poorly playing group, falling more than two complete holes behind, the same occurred to foursomes behind us who skipped holes to get away from laggards. The lack of a marshall changed what should have been an enjoyable outing, into a bit of a frustrating round of golf. Other than the Pro Shop and the starter, no other staff were evident. Amenities were lacking.

such a nice layout and course just wish it wasn't obvious that it is dying.....no snack bar, no beer or cocktails.....just kind of sad......staff is nice great!...but just sad
Heads up
Lots of parallel fairways so had to watch for shots from other golfers. Greens were in good shape but the tee boxes were not flat and the course looked neglected.
Needs TLC
This course has huge potential
Lacking in professional image and someone at bag drop to greet you
The course needs to be cleaned up, lots of debris lying around as well the fairways and greens need attention.
The bridges need to be replanked before someone falls through with a cart
Again if proper attention is given to this place it would be a beautiful course

Great Location
The course is ok.it is a shame more people don,t play here in the center of town so they could afford to hire more grounds crew to keep the course in better condition.I think they do the best they can.It would be a tragedy to lose this course and hav yet more condos built.....
A great day
I played 2 rounds in the same day, before I flew out at 1600. Location is great for going from 18 green to the airport. The pace of play is fantastic and the other players are always willing to let you play through. My morning round solo was 2 hours. My afternoon round playing solo again was 2.5 hours. I could not have asked for a better day weather wise, when it is windy in other areas around palm springs it seems Mesquite GC is sheltered. I will play this track any day when the price is right on Golf Now. Staff is fantastic.
Poor excuse for golf course.
Quit playing this course years ago because of poor conditions and nothing has changed, if anything, it’s worse now.
Don’t waste your money.
Track could use a little TLC but not too bad shape.

These course has gotten better that last 3 Years might not be like it was when it was built but way better then 5 or 6 years ago yes...and it does need some tlc but that’s up to that owners not that ground crew...u should go back and see
