Rancho Mirage Country Club
About
This course sits at the intersection of two of the most famous roads in Palm Springs: Bob Hope Drive and Frank Sinatra Drive. Yet, it's one of the better kept secrets in the golf scene. Rancho Mirage Country Club in Ranch Mirage is a semi-private club available to outside play through stay & play packages so it does not do a lot of publicity.
There are 10 lakes, tons of palm trees and the snow-capped San Jacinto Mountains to catch your eyes. The course itself is largely flat and inviting for the average hacker. It measures only 6,111 yards from the back tees. But its 122-slope rating is a little deceivingly given how small many of the greens are. It still takes good shots to post a good number at Rancho Mirage.
There are also lighted tennis courts at the complex, allowing golfers to make a day & night of it, if they wish.

Nice, but
Course enjoyable, but play was slow from #1 on- never saw a Marshall. 5 hour round
Love the course
Great layout but tight. On the short side but challenging. Definitlely recommend.
enjoyed the play very much
The course was in great shape, but the play was a little slow
Starting times
This is a relatively short course which was backed up on the first hole and remained that way. I was told they allow 7 minutes between groups, it resulted in 3 hrs for 9 holes. I am a pretty patient guy but if that is what golf is about I would hang it up.
Clearly, they have course management issues.
Enjoyable Golf Experience
Free range balls ready for use on driving range. Course in great condition, an enjoyable track to play. Food mediocre. Gated community, entrance permitted by pre-booked tee time.
excellent shape
Great shape. The traps were wet from the rain last night. Did it under 4 hours, started at 7 am.
One of Our Favourite Courses
Always enjoy playing here - we get a good rate early in the morning, good company and four hour round.
Where's the beach?
Great staff, good food, nice course. The only odd thing was the bunkers didn't have any good sand. Pretty much just hard pan wet dirt. It definitely makes the fairway bunker shots more productive, but careful around the greens! A much more difficult proposition.
Just OK
Played here for the first time with some locals who know the course. The condition was fair. the fairways are on the thin side which is not great. The pace of play was awe full. On many holes we had three or four groups. I got it at a discount price, so I partially accepted it. At full price I would have been pretty disappointed. When we were finished, the bar was closed.
first time
Course in okay shape but overall it looked old, tired and in need of some TLC. Greens were hard but understandable given the 'drought' conditions in CA.
Better value for the $ elsewhere in the valley
Not worth $85
Funky course. Narrow fairways. Slow play. No ranger. Course was just sold. Although some water on course, no water before teeing off.
Desert History
Fun course that had all the movie stars from the past play it. It has some spectacular views and was very fun and challenging to play. Greens are slower than others in the area but were good
Classic old course
Have played here more than other course in the Palm Springs area and would always go back. Great staff and course. Only bad area were the traps. Some of them rock hard without sand.
Slo play
Was very slow play they had lots of golfer and play was very slow. The staff was very friendly and very helpful.
Lovely course with challenges
A goup up head apparently had poor etiquette (or basic golf knowledge) and slowed things down. We enjoyed it though. we were 2 couples from San Diego. The weather was perfect - gorgeous and sunny (and not windy, like you get sometimes in Palm Springs area). Course was well maintained. The greens were tough (lots of break - more than we oculd see) (although slower than we expected) and tough pin placements. We got a great rate of $55 on golf now which made it an excellent value. It is in a gated community but open to the public. I believe it has just been sold to a new owner, so hopefully it will even get nicer. Staff was friendly.
Average golf in Rancho Mirage
Average golf course.
I guess its worth the $65 I paid on Golf Now for a 7am tee time the night before I played, especially when you compare it to well over $100 for anything at PGA West or comparable, which you do have to treat yourself to occasionally.
No one was there to greet me when I dropped off my clubs to go park.
Had no idea where the Pro Shop was.
There were no keys in the carts.
I did end up playing in 2 hrs. & 25 mins., my fastest time ever, but that was because I played by myself & there was only a twosome in front of me by a couple holes.
There were a couple other singles out there as well.
I didn't play all that well as I prefer to play with a group as it helps keep me somewhat focused.
I would go back again with my own group (twosome or foursome) or if I was on my own & had nowhere else to go.
I'm sure if you lived at this gated golf community & got to know some people it would be a fun place to play.
Rancho Mirage CC
Incredibly good value for the price. Fourth or fifth time there and we drive 2 hours to play. The course, the weather and the scenery all combine to give a lasting positive memory. We've already made plans to return.
Past it's prime
Rancho Mirage back in the Kennedy/Johnson years was probably a crown jewel in the Palm Springs area. Now the course and the facilities are just tired and dated. 5 stars to the greeter at the bag drop. He was (besides us) the only person I saw at the course that was under 70. Greens were good and rolled true. Tee boxes were in good condition. Fairways were about like what you would find at a local muni. The overall conditions are not on a par with other courses at the same price. If you can play for under $50 it would be a good deal. The GolfNow price of $95 was not worth it. Unless you want nostalgia I would not play this course. My wife is a beginner and did not enjoy her round here due to length of the forward tees, water carries and could not hit her longer woods due to the condition of the fairways. One final comment, hole #10 is just a design mess. Nuff said.
will be back
gorgeous, all good, impressive, the air was filled with footprints of famous professional golfers and movie stars...nothing but positive vibes!!!!!
Golf experience
Great staff welcoming environment Enjoyed the couple we were playing.Had a back up at 5th hole.
