Rancho Mirage Country Club
About
This course sits at the intersection of two of the most famous roads in Palm Springs: Bob Hope Drive and Frank Sinatra Drive. Yet, it's one of the better kept secrets in the golf scene. Rancho Mirage Country Club in Ranch Mirage is a semi-private club available to outside play through stay & play packages so it does not do a lot of publicity.
There are 10 lakes, tons of palm trees and the snow-capped San Jacinto Mountains to catch your eyes. The course itself is largely flat and inviting for the average hacker. It measures only 6,111 yards from the back tees. But its 122-slope rating is a little deceivingly given how small many of the greens are. It still takes good shots to post a good number at Rancho Mirage.
There are also lighted tennis courts at the complex, allowing golfers to make a day & night of it, if they wish.

Had a great time on the back nine!
Played very early on a humid morning for the first time at this Rancho Mirage course. Sticky greens on the front but after the turn our putts started to drop:D No GPS on the cart so spent a little time looking for yardage markers. However no impact on pace of play at that hour! Would play again as it is minutes from our Palm Desert location hotel. Only disappointment was no full service dining after the round.
Not terrible, not great.
this course isn't as good as people are rating it. It's a 50 dollar course so don't pay more. Mix of good enough holes and some really dumb ones. Short, thin and lacking par 5's. Average shape, average greens, some of which are too small. Clubhouse is really old and outdated. Don't get me wrong, if you just want to play 18 holes on a course with palm trees when there's 3 feet of snow where you live, this is good enough. Just don't go in with high expectations from playing all the wonderful courses in the area.
A Day at the Ranch
This was an annual return to play this course' Get at least one round in each visit. Had a great time as usual. Only complaint was the pace of play. Took just over 4 hours and 45 minutes. There was a course marshal on the course but saw no attempt to speed up the slow pokes.
Nice place to play
Good layout, plays longer than the yardage and is quite tight. Overall a good course to play. Pace of play was 4h 20 m. Seems to be a busy course.
traditional parkland course
Played from the Blue tees. The course is not long but very tight. Greens and tees were well maintained. some of the bunkers were hard packed others were soft. A good test.
Picturesque
This course has the most picturesque holes of any of the country clubs in the Palm Springs area. They epitomize Palm Springs golf in that you have the views of the mountains framed by palm tree lined fairways that reach up and touch the blue sky. This course is what I envisioned when I thought of golf in Palm Springs. I could easily imagine the stars of Hollywood walking theses fairways.
The course itself is well laid out with great greens but the fairways were a little scruffy....the grass on the fairways needs work. It doesn't very often give you a good lie...its thin and lays flat...the ground underneath is hard.
Having said that I still say you have to play this course. The sense of nostalgia alone is worth the money.
Canadian golfers
Pace of play-excellent. All course conditions were poor-sparse fairways=packed sand traps-bumpy greens. But we had a great time!! Sonny
Beautiful day, Beautiful course
The course was in very good shape except for a few fairways in the shade where the grass was quite sparse. The course was fairly challenging with a good dose of water and sand hazards. The pace of play was very good. I will play this course again.
Better than back home
We chose this course as our first to play on our trip. It was fair deal on GN and good to get out and hit a ball for the first time in 3 months. Conditions were good and views were nice. Some of the pin placements were iffy at best but only complaint was there was no refreshment cart even after asking the starter who said there was, that and a long drive from 9 to the clubhouse to find there was nothing available to eat there and the drive back to 10 -
It took us almost 5 hous to play 18 holes!!
The pace of play was ridiculous! It was so slow we wanted to quit and wish we had! The Marshall was out on the course but it never improved. We actually waited 20+ minutes on the first hole to tee off.
We will not go back...too bad because it is a nice course.
Needs Attention
Conditions average at best, fairways need attention. Was paired up with three non golfers even though my early morning tee time was as a single and cfm'd when I checked in. We had to let groups play through as the players I was with were non golfers teaching each other??? The staff were there but not attentive at all - finally left the restaurant as I couldn't find anyone to even get a cup of coffee.
Rancho Mirage
My wife and I played the course and had a very nice time. The fairways are not as green as some of the other courses we played but over all very nice. The layout is a little confusing if you haven’t played there before, and some signage might help that confusion. We had several groups in front of us go the wrong way and switched for the front 9 onto the back 9 mid round, as all of a sudden there was no one in front of us! The greens are hard and FAST, so not much flag hunting here! But they roll very nicely and can be challenging.
Greens a bit slow
I found the greens slower than most courses, but were in good condition. The grass on the fairways were thin and sparse. The course is fun to play, and I'm sure I'll be there again.
A dated course
A very 1970s country club style course. A nice course and good value, but not exceptional.
Almost typical
The course was in a little below average condition, a few of the greens had dead spots and were pretty bumpy. I liked the overall layout, all of the holes have a different configuration through the use of water and bunkers. Where we play is usually based on price, this course was reasonably priced, we will play it again.
rough shape
Course is in rough shape -sparse grass coverage, seems like its been over watered, lots of wet spots with little grass. Some sand traps were wet. We had a 1pm tee off time and finished nine is a whopping 2 hours and forty five minutes-ugh.
Golfing with friends
We had a great time, were not rushed and the course was in relatively good condition.
Agreable parcours
Très bon accueil et parcours très agreable.a recommander.
Course has seen better days
The course was not in the best of conditions. The greens were decent but the fairways and bunkers needed some attention. The course does not have a fresh look as if not a lot of resources are being applied to the details. The price on GolfNow was reasonable and I might try the course again a little later in the year.
Beautiful course
It a pretty golf course and the staff is friendly. Play moved along OK. The grass on the fairways was really short. The tight conditions does not suit my type of play.
