River Run Golf Links
About
River Run Golf Links is a municipal course owned by the city of Bradenton. Unlike many others in the area, golfers won't have to worry about hitting homes on this non-residential course. The layout is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy but it's also a fair test that is anything but boring. The two nines are referred to as the River Nine, the front, and the Pirate nine. The golf course is mostly straightforward and a pleasure to walk, although there are carts available. Ancient oak trees draped with Spanish moss provide shade and scenery throughout the course. Water has a prominent presence, coming into play on almost every hole. Some of the holes are tight and can be quite challenging but beginners can still approach River Run Golf Links with confidence.

Biggest Bang For The Buck
River Run is usually very crowded. It’s in a good location, the price can’t be beat, and the course is usually in very nice shape, especially for a muni. We were lucky when we played because the course was pretty empty. The condition was very good. The greens could have been rolled, but otherwise, the course was very good.
Good Conditions, Horrible Pace Of Play
Teed off as a twosome for a late morning, mid-week round. Were told that last group to tee off ahead of us had gone out over 45 minutes earlier. Playing at a leisurely pace we still caught up with them on the 7th tee box and then it took us over an hour to complete the last three holes. Another twosome caught up with us on the 8th tee box and played in with us. At the turn the starter let go back to #1 and we completed our round having played the front twice. Staff members Mark, Dave & Lee were helpful. Can report that the front 9 was in good shape but never saw the back nine.
Course In Decent Shape
Greens slow but true. Tee boxes & fairways in good shape. Bunkers need improvement. Overall positive experience. Will return soon. Staff members Larry (inside) & Brad (starter) friendly and accommodating.
Golf
Under normal conditions this course is in great shape because of all the heavy rain that they've had there are water spots and high grass where they're not able to mow. The greens are in good shape and as always I enjoy playing here we'll be back
Beautiful course
Rated conditions excellent considering it was great under really went conditions . Look forward to playing when things dry out.
Narrow on some holes, and wasn't familiar with course, but still played reasonably under circumstances. Greens great, speed and roll excellent.
Nice Round
Early start, greens in good shape, fairways ok, lots of rain, mushy spots. Pace of play was great until usual cluster around 13, 14. Still finished in 2hr 45min. Staff very helpful.
Good Conditions Despite Heavy Rains The Night Before
Cart path only conditions contributed to the course being almost empty on a weekday morning. Finished in 3.75 hours. Tee to green the course was in as good a shape as could be expected. Greens were very nice. Bunkers were waterlogged with standing water in a number of low spots. Staff (Lee & Dave inside, Phil on carts, + starter/marshall Brett) were friendly and welcoming. Recommend this course and will surely return soon.
Good course for the money, greens in great shape
Played Aug 28, 2024 at 10:30 am. Hot and humid that day (which explains why there weren't many people playing. Fairways and greens in great shape. Challenging course. Would recommend this course. A few negatives are charging a rider fee (I e. spouse, friend, relative, etc who is not playing) in the summer when hardly anyone is on the course and many carts sitting empty. Another negative is not allowing any coolers for water or snacks (tho the course does offer water in cups). Overall, I would still recommend this course.
Fun Round At River Run
Played late morning weekend round. Finished in just over three-and-a-half hours playing as a twosome. Would have finished in less time if the two groups in front of us (whom we caught up with on the 7th hole) had of played from the proper tees. Course was in very good condition tee-to-green, despite the fairways not having been mowed that morning. Greens in good condition (true but slow) except for the green on hole number 14, which was totally dead. (It had been rolled, so was still puttable, but appears to be preparing for replacement.) Friendly staff (especially Chris on carts). Would play there again and hope to return soon.
Enjoy it!
This is a fun course…. There are enough challenges to keep your skills and some easier holes to give you a break when you need it. Just a good overall course.
Love It.....
Nothing to complain about. They are a little strict and about pace of play.. but we got 18 in in 4 hours so what they are doing works.
Some greens were a little rough but overall we loved the course and will certainly be back!
Super slow play on a saturday morning.
We had a nine fifty eight tee time for 2, We showed up fifteen minutes early, only to be told that there was a half hour backlog. We went off behind a foursome about ten forty five. They seemed to be playing hit him until you like them off the tee, which really slowed the Pace of play Down, As they had to find all their balls. And they looked for every one of them.... Truly, there was nowhere for them to go, Put playing one ball off the Tee, would have allowed us to hit up to the green quicker, even though we would had to wait to tee off at the next hole. When pace of play is slow, playing ready golf is imperative to help speed up.Play. This foursome squatted behind every putt, to read the green and three putted half the time. It is frustrating as the starter came around only one time.
And you really don't want to be that group, the complains, But it should Not be up to us to harang, the group in front of us, although we did hit in to them several times. Never on purpose.... We will probably play here again, but it will be an afternoon round, When there aren't so many people clambering.
For the seven minute between tee times, times.
Why Get Up @ 545AM?
The course was in good shape considering storm Debby had been thru earlier in week. Greens still healing from aeration. Had one of the 1st tee times. The course simultaneously sends ppl off back in AM to play 9 which I under$tand. Problem is you're making good time UNTIL you get to the back and run into all the ppl they've sent off. You get up early, drive 30 mins to get early start only to spend the back waiting, and waiting. NOTE to new players. It's poor etiquette to be giving lessons while the group behind you is waiting!! Especially on a busy Sat AM when you're already a hole behind AFTER you've only played one hole!
Great bang for the buck
We golfed here during the offseason and 2 days after a hurricane, it was still clean and in good shape. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
