About
River Run Golf Links is a municipal course owned by the city of Bradenton. Unlike many others in the area, golfers won't have to worry about hitting homes on this non-residential course. The layout is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy but it's also a fair test that is anything but boring. The two nines are referred to as the River Nine, the front, and the Pirate nine. The golf course is mostly straightforward and a pleasure to walk, although there are carts available. Ancient oak trees draped with Spanish moss provide shade and scenery throughout the course. Water has a prominent presence, coming into play on almost every hole. Some of the holes are tight and can be quite challenging but beginners can still approach River Run Golf Links with confidence.

Fair play
Fairways are in decent shape. Greens in good condition. Traps have been raked. The course is in pretty good shape compared to other courses in the area. And for the price you can't go wrong.
Good test of golf
Thoroughly enjoyed the course and a massive improvement from the last time we played in 2019. Course in really good condition and greens very true. Play was quite slow 4 hours 40 mins for the round. Had a problem with credit/debit card transaction at booking in which delayed matters. Other guests had same problem. Will definitely return.
Good layout
Some really enjoyable holes with interesting doglegs. A few challenging drives with tree lined fairways requiring good positional play. Not always a driver required. An enjoyable round only slightly marred by slow play of those in front who wholly ignored the hole by hole instructions not to take buggies close to greens/tees.🙄
Greens In Good Condition
Played late morning weekend round which was booked on-line. We were met at bag drop by staff member Randy Palmer, who was friendly, helpful & accommodating (as was Eileen, who was working inside the clubhouse). Course was not crowded and in much better shape than in the recent past as a lack of daily rains has allowed it to dry out quite a bit. Tee boxes were in decent shape. Greens were in good shape, rolling true and holding incoming shots. Sand traps were not up to standards, with some being groomed and playable while others were almost hardpan. Overall this is a good and challenging course and a great value for the money. We look forward to returning soon.
Stay Away
They would not let me go off as a two-some and demanded I play with another couple. I am a female golfer and do not enjoy playing with others as I have had bad experiences. The starter was rude and yelled at me. I said I would be patient and go off at another time. He said no. The course would not refund my money and I ended up leaving and went and played another course which had friendly staff and were accommodating.
Asking to go off as a two-some is not a big deal and I was willing to wait.
Based on Hurricane IAN going through our area with heavy rain and strong winds, the course was in pretty good shape
Bug bites made it impossible to play
Absolutely terrible conditions was exoected after a rainy week, but was not expected is the constant swarm of mosquitos and other insects that follow you with ever shot. Despite using a whole can of bug spray, these things bit through my clothes and decimated my legs and ankles. 2 days later I’m still swollen all over and the pain/itchiness is unimaginable. I would not wish this on my worst enemies.

Good Course Experiencing Very Wet (Seasonal Rains) Conditions
As it's name suggests, River Run is located adjacent to a river and daily heavy rains have left it totally waterlogged. Even though, we made the decision to play and we actually made it through 12 holes before the heavens again opened up and we were rained out. The staff and groundskeepers have done their best to keep conditions playable but there was/is standing water on almost every hole and carts must be kept on cart paths. Inside staff (especially Eileen) and outside staff (John) were very friendly and accommodating. Will return again when conditions dry up a bit as this is a fun and challenging course. which really deserves a better rating than today's conditions allow for.
