About
Hyde Park Golf Club, built in 1925 by Donald Ross, is one of the oldest in Florida. In 1971, the golf course was purchased by former touring professionals Billy Maxwell and Chris Blocker, who have successfully restored it.
Rolling hills, gorgeous Spanish Oaks and towering Southern Pines make Hyde Park a lasting experience. A tour stop for the men's and women's professional golf tours in the 1940s and 1950s, the golf course gained a place in history during the 1947 Jacksonville Open. The great Ben Hogan took an 11 on the par-3 sixth, which became known as "Hogan's Alley." It has a deep-faced bunker to the right and water to the left.

This course is in horrible shape and I wouldn't play it again if it was free.
Needs Work
Playable greens but the tee boxes and fairways need work to make rounds more enjoyable
read the small print
was told upon arriving and check in my playing partner was waiting I thought it was a mistake said I was playing alone. I have high stress job its how I unwind .man at counter looked at me and said you should have read the small print no singles here stone faced not friendly
don't be fooled by newly planted flowers at entrance
This course is in bad shape. The greens are full of poa annua, hard to putt on. fairways are bumpy with very little grass. tees some were okay and others were weeds and dirt.No water in water coolers. we had a twosome in front of us and a single behide us, trying to push our foursome.they have no rangers or starter..Never coming back to this place again, there are so many other courses in area that were same price and give you free lunch and beer..I would check around before you play here.
Awesome Value For Price
Very old-school, Donald Ross designed course where target golf is the name of the game. Quite short by modern standards(about 6400 from the tips) but still presents a great challenge for golfers with any level of experience. The course conditions-- especially the fairways and some tee boxes-- leave something to be desired. The greens are quite slow and undulating, but I found most of my putts rolled true to their line. We played for $17 per person with a GolfNow hot deal, which is the best value you will find in the Jax area. Can't beat it for the price, a great experience on a classic course!
The staff was friendly and helpful too. No beverage cart during the week, I believe.
Classic course for a great price
Other than the greens being spotty, this course is always a great play, especially for the price.
Handicap
Tee box had grass the rest of the areas fairway and greens need more then a lot of work. Greens were bumpy as you would not aget a true roll. Best part was the Ben Hogan Alley challenge hole!

The greens are bad. The fairways need a lot of work. The traps are hard. Good luck if you play here
A fun layout but the fairways and greens are in poor condition... Fairways have lots of sandy spots and hard pan spots... The greens simply are not fair because the ball will not stay on line with all the crab grass, sandy spots and pot holes... At the least, improve the greens and this would be a decent course.
Great for a quick round
No drink cart during the week, and the clubhouse closes fairly early. The staff is friendly and we had a great time
Needs a lot of work
2nd time playing there and was hoping the course conditions would be better. Unfortunately not. Fairways mainly consisted of dirt, not grass. Greens where very bumpy. T boxes where in decent shape. Could be a very nice course with some renovations.
Thirsty
Enjoyed playing but the cart girl was gone after the front 9 and we had no warning that she would not return

bumpy, not smooth at all. I like Donald Ross courses if they are in decent shape!!!
worse every time
This course is in worse shape every time I go. It is a fun lay out but hard pan everywhere even, on some fairways. There is obviously not much money being spent on the maintenance of Hyde Park.
