Hyde Park Golf Club
About
Hyde Park Golf Club, built in 1925 by Donald Ross, is one of the oldest in Florida. In 1971, the golf course was purchased by former touring professionals Billy Maxwell and Chris Blocker, who have successfully restored it.
Rolling hills, gorgeous Spanish Oaks and towering Southern Pines make Hyde Park a lasting experience. A tour stop for the men's and women's professional golf tours in the 1940s and 1950s, the golf course gained a place in history during the 1947 Jacksonville Open. The great Ben Hogan took an 11 on the par-3 sixth, which became known as "Hogan's Alley." It has a deep-faced bunker to the right and water to the left.
Hyde Park Golf Club measures 6,468 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71, and it has a slope rating of 124.

An Old Favorite
I don't play much golf these days, but this course remains a favorite. It is old (1925), historic (Ben Hogan made an 11 on a par 3 there), and well designed (Donald Ross). It is nothing like modern courses, and that is part of its charm. It's challenging for the average golfer, but very fair. The condition is good for a $27 course, and the staff is helpful and friendly. This is a perfect course for a fun weekday casual round. Give it a try!
Great time
Everything was great, will definitely play the course again
A walk in the Park
Wanted to play Hyde Park before the cold weather set in the weekend. Was a perfect day and the course was in pretty good shape. Greens were fast and smooth. Fairways in good shape. Pace of play was excellent, especially for Hyde Park. Staff was very courteous. Will play again.
Hyde Park Golf Course
Course was in decent shape. Greens were a little rough as they were recovering from aeration and sanding. Course layout is nice but once off the fairways the rough is "rough", lol.
Good course
Greens were hairy and slow. Course in great shape. Would recommend.
Nice Course
it has been awhile since i played here. It is a nice course but well used. Course is in OK shape but lot of room for improvement; for example fairways have tons of divots. I would not pay full price $33 for a round but the hot deals are worth it.
The course is a quiet area except for the occasional car but was very relaxing.
Course to play again
Location of the course was right for me & course layout is very playable. Be ready to play couple of long par 3's when playing the blue tees. There are at least two Par 4's a water or pond fairway-wide you have to cross unto the greens. That makes this course to have you think which club you would hit. Plus, stand on Par 3 hole tee box, where one of the legend of the sports made a everlasting memory. It is now called the "Hogan's Alley".
Pretty basic municipal course
First time I've ever played Hyde Park. The staff was wonderful, very helpful and accommodating. The course is in okay shape, the greens are SLOW. I wish they could get the fairways in better shape, too many weeds. I will be going back, great value for the money!
Great course
Play here twice a week and always enjoy it. Course is great and staff are always a pleasure. I have no complaints. Definitely recommend this course. Can't beat the price and pace of play is always good.
Could be an amazing course
Played here early in the morning, no starter, clubhouse personnel was not very friendly at all. Only saw beverage cart once on hole 9. Greens were not horrible, a little slow but good grass fill. This course could be awesome with a little help.
The course is in good condition .
The course at Hyde Park is well worth the money . The layout is challenging enough and the greens were in good condition . They could use a hospitality cart coming around in this warm weather though !
Good course
Course was in decent shape. Greens were a bit slow and rough needs to be mowed. However, pace of play is great, course is very playable, and tee times are readily available.
Help me catch a criminal
Course was great but while I was playing my round someone damaged my white Ford F-150 truck in the parking lot behind the pro shop. Shoe print and dents on passenger door and passenger side mirror ripped off. Would have been between 12 noon and 4 pm, probably closer to 3 or so. Evidently the course ejected someone playing ahead of me for damaging clubs/golf cart, etc...and it might be this person. If you know who that person is or if you saw someone doing this to my truck, please let the course folks know, or leave a comment here for me, or contact JSO--there is a JSO report of the crime, report# 16-500249. This occurred on Sunday, 7/31/16, between noon and 4 p.m.
West side Jewel
Let me first say I grew up on the westside so a little partial.I love everything about Hyde Park,no houses on course,Donald Ross design, inexpensive and always in decent shape.Friendly service at desk and bar. Go play it!
Top notch condition!
Greens have really responded and are in superb shape. The whole course is spot on right now.
Course Condition Only Fair
Course layout is great but course condition is only fair. Greens were drilled recently (I'm guessing 3 weeks ago) and are still bumpy. Tee boxes and fairways need some TLC. Several of the water coolers on the course were nearly empty. Pace of play on a Monday afternoon was 3.5 hours for 18 holes.
Hidden Gem
They just punched the greens a few weeks ago for the first time in 10-15 years. I really believe this course needs just a bit more TLC and it's going to be great!
Great time
Hyde Park is always a blast to play; unpretentious and brimming with potential to be a real jewel.
Hyde Park
First time to play the Donald Ross lay out. The staff and the course layout are great, the condition of the course not so much. They need a bigger budget to properly care for such a great layout. The staff does the best it can with the budget it has...
Hyde Park
Love the history of this 1925 Donald Ross track. It's always in "average" condition so it's not great but it's not bad either. I always enjoy playing it.
