River Oaks Golf Club - Fox/Otter
River Oaks Golf Club stretches across more than 800 scenic acres along the Intracoastal Waterway. The club offers 27 holes that are divided into three nines, each named after the some of the wildlife that call the course home. The Fox, Otter, and Bear nines can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Fox/Otter Course begins with the shortest of the three nines and finishes with the longest. The final hole on the front nine presents one of the most interesting risk-reward opportunities on the golf course. You can aim for the right bunker for an open shot at the green or try a long drive down the left side for a short approach. River Oaks Golf Clubs' Otter nine has several challenges in store including mounding, strategically placed bunkers, and tricky water hazards.

Friendliest Staff Around
Can’t say enough about this course, if you are looking for a family friendly round of golf. Course is a little short, but a good challenge
Great layout. Fun, friendly place to play
On vacation in Myrtle Beach, the wife and I love golfing. She has only played a few years so sometimes scary going to new courses. This course was very accommodating and my wife very much enjoyed the course. You couldn’t ask for friendly staff. Including bag drop, pro shop, bar, starter and Marshall. Kudos!!!
The course had the standard 3/4 inch rough that made playing non-fairway shots difficult. The greens rolled good but they were very underlaying which made putting difficult.
Pace of play. Horrible. Just 2 of us and the starter made us wait till the regulars went. Their pace was really bad. I left after 6 holes cuz we caught up to the group ahead of us yet again and they had caught up to the group ahead of them
Very slow on carpet like greens
Over booked course , waiting on hitting ever shot. Players behind us hitting into us as we waited on the foursome ahead of us. Told course marshal and was told he would take care of it. Two holes later they were hitting into us again. Course had sold one of their nines. The starting nine holes were on a nine that I hadn’t played before. Scorecard did not have a hole layout or at the tee markers. No idea how how to play the hole, caused much trouble by hitting into unknown water or wrong side of the fairway. Greens on the first nine “Otter” were like a ruff carpet.
Will not be playing this course again.
Was a decent place to play, following my arrival in the area. Course was wet because of recent storms.
Greens need work
A typical bargain course. Greens have been recently verticut in preparation for overseeding, and were very slow and irregular. Staff was nice and I’d play it again if the greens were better. Altogether, it was an OK experience.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Price was good. Layout is above average - some water and traps come into play - but not to difficult for the average player. Course condition was good - some wet and soggy spots in areas of play. Play was a little slow but we were a twosome. Alcohol prices were acceptable. Would recommend to friends.
$35 Course, no more than that
Wow. Pretty beat up and not maintained. I will not return.
Undulating greens were a challenge, enjoyed playing very much. Expect to book again.
