Outstanding
This course was well worth the price. I played 3 different courses in 3 days while in Myrtle Beach, and this was by far the best one. From tee to green, it was meticulously maintained. Although water is prevalent around the course, it doesn't create an unplayable round for a golfer like myself (17 handicap). I lost 2 balls during the round due to errant shots into the water. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Man O War.
Great value
Course has a really nice layout and was great for the price. Greens were pretty soft and slow. I believe that they would’ve rolled quite a bit better had they been verti-cut recently, but overall a great value course to play any day of the week.
Great course. No refund on back 9
Not an offer of a 50% off on a shirt or balls or anything. Little disappointed, starting raining and couldn’t continue on back 9 which is where all the cool holes are.
Beautiful Setting, Beautiful Course!
My son and I were paired with a couple of great guys. Course was fair, fairly open, and in very, very good shape. Everybody was friendly. Only thing that lacked was 1) no food/drink cart all day and 2) may need some updated range balls. Other than that, it was a fabulous experience, beautiful day, and a fun round of golf!!
Another gem
Hard to compare courses in the Myrtle Beach area they are all very nice. Great staff and course was amazing
Above average
Good course for the value and when not aerated I'm sure it's very nice. Pace was slow and my two 3somes joined up as we were waiting on several groups ahead of us (we kept up and still had to wait on every hole). Staff came over and told us to break up, even though we kept up. I said "hey, your course, but you should be telling the groups ahead of us to go faster rather than wasting effort on us."
Side note, the course was recently aerated, and I wish courses or this site would notify people prior to booking. I would have avoided it in this case.
Better than average
Good test of skills with plenty of water but not so hard our groups beginner was overwhelmed. Friendly course staff and pro shop/ food staff. Very accommodating and course was nice enough to send out ice cold towels to cool down from the humidity. We've never had a course do that but we usually go out at 8am. Pace of play was very good not wide open but not waiting to hit either. All in all it was a good day and would do it again.
Greens plugged
Greens plugged. Empty tee box but course won’t let you go out before GolfNow tee time.. Starter nice but guess rules are rules? Played as twosome. Good layout, played in past years. No notification that greens and fairways plugged. Should be some type machine to pick up plugs from fairways you would think?
Water, water, water
Very fun course. Water everywhere. Lost a few balls but had a great time. Worth playing.
Really don’t like the way they handle golf carts. Seems to be a myrtle beach or east coast thing, but they wont let you have your cart more than 10 minutes before tee time. I found that annoying, but it was consistent throughout the 7 rounds i played in myrtle beach.
Also worthy notting that they dont have GPS on the carts like most southwest US courses. Bring your GPS. I left mine at home as i ran out of room (you can’t leav it in your golf bag due to it having a lithium battery).
Lots of water
We had a great time and the course was very enjoyable.. there are a few hidden water hazards and/or bunkers. It would have been nice to have a fps on the cart that showed distance to the various hidden hazards.
Seems to be a myrtle Beach thing, but they won’t give you the cart until 10 minutes before your tee time, and they charge for range balls. Again, that seems to be a thing here, but I’m used to being able to get my cart, go to the range and warm up. I find it frustrating that I have to walk to the range with my bag.
Greens were smooth and fast. Pace of play on the front was great. On the back it was very slow. That seems to be the way it goes when you start people off 1 and 10. When you make the turn you catch up to all the groups that started on the other nine. Again, something that is ubiquitous in the Myrtle Beach area. They really needed a Marshall as on every tee on the back nine we got to the tee before the group in front of us had teed off, and they were waiting for the people in front of them, and so on and so on. It could have been due to the water in the back nine- I think there was water in play on 7 of the nine holes.
Still we had a great day in perfect weather and would play here again.
Awesome
Awesome course, well kept with killer views, will 1000 percent be back.
