Really enjoyed Whispering Pines, but...
Thoroughly enjoyed playing here. But...be prepared for lighting fast greens!!!!! LOL
The staff was very friendly and the pro shop was well stocked.
Really like the Air Force memorabilia, as well. (USAF 1990-97)
Looking forward to playing here again.
Harder than you think
Course was fairly flat, fairways were fine, ladies tee boxes, not great. Greens teeny tiny!!
930tee time and they were already 25 minutes behind,
Would play again.
Fair course for the dollar
Course could use maintenance, greens were fair to poorll
Andy’s review
Overall it was a great experience.only issue we had the group behind kept hitting into us. The Marshall was nowhere to be seen, even after I told the starter at the turn. Okay, one more thing, no beverage service on the course.
Other than that the staff was VERY friendly, pace of play was great! We played in 4:24, 18 holes and teed off at 10:00AM on a Sunday.
Great overall value!
Play at Whisoering
I like the layout of the course. It was easy to move about.
Fun course
Greens could be faster but roll nice and wide open fairways the rough is good great value for money in my opinion.
Coulda woulda shoulda.
We chose this course for our last round on getaway day. The course is right across the street from Myrtle Beach International. We paid about $66 for a 9 a.m. round (not bad). The reviews were hit & miss. Most gave it a 👍. Some were a bit critical. I found it to be a decent layout, but nothing spectacular. Considering the price for the round, I found the overall conditions not up to expectations. Keep in mind, my expectations are based on my Midwest courses that I routinely play. I get it, you charge what you can get away with. And the thing I don't understand is that it can't cost more to maintain a course in Myrtle Beach than in StL or Omaha. And I do accept that. Just keep your course in Pristine conditions. That is what us out of towners want. We want to see country club conditions. Whispering Pines is a great course for 1st and last day ⛳️. Do you really want people to walk 🚶♂️ away disappointed.
Whispering Pines is a fun course
I like Whispering Pines. I’m a 68-year-old OK player (with the t-shirt to prove it!) who plays for fun. Some of the holes at WP are too long for me to reach in regulation, but others are in reach with good swings. I had a birdie on one of the par 3’s. The course is in good shape. The pace of play was a little slow, but that was the fault of a foursome a couple of groups ahead of us who played like they were the only people on the course. The course ranger talked to them a couple of times about playing faster. The staff was friendly and courteous. I’ll go back to WP when I’m back at the beach.
Nice greens
I really enjoyed the greens. It would have been nice to have a ball washer on the course every now and again since the carts didn’t have one. The few ball washers we came across were either broken or had no towel or both. Should be very easy, quick fix. Some interesting holes. They should have a crew that drives down the fairways with dirt to fill in the bare spots.
Older Course
Older Course and it shows. Range balls were probably hit by Tom Kite when he was 15.
Overall, had a good time for $45.
