Nice course, nice folks.
Can’t express how awesome the staff treats you. Our first visit was nothing short of awesome, from the bag drop to the after-round beverage, a first class experience.
Nice track
I always enjoy a round at whispering pines, many locals play here and you should give it a try. Great value.
Great Course Layout
Nice course with a great layout. Interesting and somewhat challenging holes that play fair with good shots. Greens are in good shape and run true with moderate slopes. Good value for the money.
Bad condition
Course was wet due to rain 4 days prior. Was not much grass in fairways, several od the greens had thin spots. I like the layout and have play in the past when it was in great shape that is why I was a little surprised at how it had changed. I used to recommend to others, don’t think I could do that now.
Great day in Feb
Fairways were. Wet because of rain for a couple of days, but in good condition. Greens in good condition. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to a friend for a good day of golf.
Busy day as Sun was shining and weather was excellent. Teamed with another twosome and had a great day.
Despite the weather
Rained early on both nines, but managed to through it. Kept thinking the yellow stakes marked 100 yds, but then figured out they meant one should get carts off the fairway. Several holes han no penalty area markings (eg. Hole 15).
I like the course layout but the conditions were not that good. Had a lot of shots off bare ground or very sparse grass. Very hard to get under the ball on short shots over hazards. I've played here many times and the fairways were much better. Overall I still like to play this course.
Whispering Pines February Golf..
Course in good shape, a few of the greens were still growing in.. Would recommend this course, great value.
Whispering Pines city course
Course was in pretty good shape. Layout is poor, many holes criss cross, easy to get hit with an errant shot.
Great, except….
Played for the course for the first time this past Fri, January 27. Course was a little wet due to recent rain, but overall in playable shape. Some of the greens were a little sparse. Like the course lay out here again
One fly in the ointment was the gentleman they had working at the bag drop. Beyond asking which bag was the drivers bag, he was completely non-communicative… When I asked if there were any local conditions we should be aware of he failed to mention the 90° rule, the purpose of the yellow stakes (I believe they are to indicate that the carts are to leave the fairway at that point…we initially thought they were the 100 yrd marker) Or that the actual yardage markers or painted on the cart path.
Although we arrived early and had plenty of time, he jumped in our cart and moved forward, causing my wife’s jacket all out on the floor, and then gruffly indicated we were to move ahead and T off when in fact we were 15 minutes early for a time.
Not sure why the course would have someone with such poor people skills acting as the first face that people encounter when they pull up… The other staff were pleasant to deal with
Course near airport
Weather was in high 40's and breezy. This made it challenging. Greens were just ok and many sand traps had water in them. Pace of play was 3.25 hours.
