I like the course layout but the conditions were not that good. Had a lot of shots off bare ground or very sparse grass. Very hard to get under the ball on short shots over hazards. I've played here many times and the fairways were much better. Overall I still like to play this course.

Whispering Pines city course

Course was in pretty good shape. Layout is poor, many holes criss cross, easy to get hit with an errant shot.

Great, except….

Played for the course for the first time this past Fri, January 27. Course was a little wet due to recent rain, but overall in playable shape. Some of the greens were a little sparse. Like the course lay out here again

One fly in the ointment was the gentleman they had working at the bag drop. Beyond asking which bag was the drivers bag, he was completely non-communicative… When I asked if there were any local conditions we should be aware of he failed to mention the 90° rule, the purpose of the yellow stakes (I believe they are to indicate that the carts are to leave the fairway at that point…we initially thought they were the 100 yrd marker) Or that the actual yardage markers or painted on the cart path.

Although we arrived early and had plenty of time, he jumped in our cart and moved forward, causing my wife’s jacket all out on the floor, and then gruffly indicated we were to move ahead and T off when in fact we were 15 minutes early for a time.

Not sure why the course would have someone with such poor people skills acting as the first face that people encounter when they pull up… The other staff were pleasant to deal with

Course near airport

Weather was in high 40's and breezy. This made it challenging. Greens were just ok and many sand traps had water in them. Pace of play was 3.25 hours.

Windy Day at Whispering Pines

Our round this day had added difficulty due to 35 mph winds. However, we still enjoyed the course (which we had not played for five years). The course is moderately difficult normally with small greens. Our only criticism was that the condition of the greens was somewhat inconsistent, with the back nine better than the front. We consider this course good value and will probably play it again in th next month or so, hopefully with calmer winds.

Good historic tract

The course is fun for all handicaps. Traditional layout wraps around itself with no homes on the course! Greens are quick but were easy to read.. Some greens they were a little thin but putted true. Interesting pin locations were often just paces off fringe. Lots of dogleg holes. Slicers should bring extra balls as wayward shots are in the piney woods. Excellent helpful staff

Dad and son play

It was our annual golf trip to Myrtle Beach during winter break. The layout and field conditions were nit bad. There were slower players but it was little better than other courses. When I went to play 2nd time, it was heavy raining fall and we got rain check. We will definitely go back thus winter.

Impressive layout and personel

Enjoyed the course and the layout. Had (ONE) party that held up everyone, us included because he waited on every hole till the party ahead of him had exited the green before he teed off. A marshal would have helped for sure. Its in the past but it did happened. The threesome ahead of us walked off on the 17th hole totally frustrated. FYI.
